Vyas (Byas), is a municipality of Tanahun District located in Gandaki Pradesh in Nepal. It was previously known as Karlung Village development committee but later on was merged to form a Municipality. The municipality was established by merging the former Village development committee Damauli (previoulsy district headquarter of Tanahun) with several of its neighbors,[when?] the most recent merger being the one with Pokhari Bhanjyang in 2014. It lies on the bank of Madi Khola. Damauli, the district headquarter of Tanahun District is a small village that is part of Vyas Municipality. It is one of the municipalities, which could be formed after re-establishment of multiparty democracy in 1991 A.D.At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 70,335 people living in 18,339 individual households. It is believed that Sage Vyasadeva was born in this place, for which the municipality was named after him.
There are 14 wards in Vyas Municipality. Different VDC and Previous Vyas Municipality has been now merged and formed as Vyas Municipality, Tanahun, Province No. 4, Nepal from 2073/11/27 B.S.(10 March 2017 A.D.).

To Promote local culture Vyas has four FM radio station. That are Radio Bhanubhakta - 104.2 MHz , Damauli F.M - 94.2 MHz, Smart F.M - 89.4 MHz and Madi Seti FM 105.8 MHz Which fall under Community radio Station.
