The Sims is an upcoming American comedy-drama film directed by Kate Herron and co-written by Briony Redman. It is based on the video game series of the same name by Maxis.

Development[edit]

A live-action drama film based upon the franchise was announced in May 2007.^[1] The Sims film rights had been purchased by 20th Century Fox in the same year.^[2] It was to be written by Brian Lynch and produced by John Davis,^[3]^[4] and the film remained in development hell for a number of years. In 2019, following the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney, the film along with numerous video game-based movies in development at Fox were canceled.^[5]

In March 2024, it was reported that a live-action adaptation was in early development with Kate Herron attached to direct and Margot Robbie producing.^[6]^[7]
