School description

The setup of IIM Sambalpur was announced in 2014 by Ministry of HRD , Government of India and was established in the year 2015. The first batch of Post Graduation Program (PGP) in Management at IIM Sambalpur[2] started in September, 2015. On 23 September 2015, Sanjay Kumar Das Burma, Minister of State, Employment and Technical Education & Training, Govt of Odisha inaugurated academic session at IIM-Sambalpur.

Campus

IIM Sambalpur is currently functioning from its temporary campus at Sambalpur University, Jyotivihar, Sambalpur, Odisha. The campus houses the academic block, student accommodation, food canteens and merchandise stores. In its two hostels, students are provided double occupancy rooms with basic amenities including washing machines, refrigerators, TVs at each floor. IIM Sambalpur is well connected to Raipur, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata through a network of road and rail and to Jharsuguda, where Odisha's 2nd biggest airport being constructed. Recently, a direct flight from Bhubaneswar has been launched to Sambalpur. Colloquially known as the second capital of Odisha, Sambalpur is home to the famous Hirakud Dam and is a place of great tourist attraction.

[3][4][5] In January 2015, HRD Minister Mrs. Smriti Irani cleared the proposal for the campus in Sambalpur, Odisha. The Government of Odisha has selected 237 acres of land in Basantpur, Odisha for the permanent campus.

Academics

IIM Sambalpur currently offers post graduate diplomas in management. Admission is primarily[further explanation needed] through the Common Admission Test conducted jointly by the IIMs.[citation needed]

Campus Life

There are several student-managed Committees & Clubs at IIM Sambalpur. The following are the list of Committees and Clubs:-

The Students’ Activity Council(SAC) is the nerve centre of all student activities on the campus. It acts as an interface between the institute’s administration and the students to sort out matters concerning student welfare. The SAC is responsible for developing, reviewing, and evaluating plans and setting directions for student affairs in accordance with the vision, mission and strategic plan of the college.

Acadcomm facilitates the management of the academic system at IIM Sambalpur. The Council acts as the interface between students and faculty and is also responsible for course bidding process.

More than 100 companies across the globe visit the campus every year for summers and final placements. The placement processes are facilitated by the PlaceComm.

Industry talks by notable guests, Panel Discussion, Guest Lectures, Industry Visits and Alumni Engagement Activities are managed by IARC.
