Japan–Maldives relations are foreign relations between Japan and Maldives. Diplomatic relations were established in 1967.[1]
History
Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, President Maldive,had visited Japan fourth times between 1984 and 2001. In 2014 Abdulla Yameen, President of Maldives, visited Japanese Prime minister, Shinzo Abe in Tokyo.[2]
Maldives opened an embassy in Tokyo, in 2007.[3] Japan has no embassy in the Maldives. The Japan Ambassador in Sri Lanka is accredited to the Maldives, and make periodic visits.[4]
