GA review

[edit]

I have the following comments:

  • In the lead, it states that Sde Dov is a hub, in the infobox it states that Ben Gurion is the hub and that Sde Dov is a focus city - the focus city article states that "a focus city is a location that is not a hub". So a conflict of information to be resolved.
Wow - you're good - Thanks for that - sorted--Flymeoutofhere 12:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Arkia's life ..." - slightly too anthropomorphic for me.
OK - changed--Flymeoutofhere 12:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I believe it is conventional to embolden alternative names, such as "Israel Inland Airlines"
OK - done--Flymeoutofhere 12:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • "As a result, El Al, Israel's national airline, fulfiling the international demand, founded the airline ..." - I don't think the "fulfiling the international demand" is required.
Done--Flymeoutofhere 12:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Started in 1950, the following year, in 1950 - inconsistent.
Done--Flymeoutofhere 12:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done--Flymeoutofhere 12:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • 60's - be consistent with your other decades, so 1960s.
Done--Flymeoutofhere 12:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • WP:DASH says en-dash for year ranges, so 1967-1968 should be 1967–1968.
Done--Flymeoutofhere 12:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • "jet prop" - should be fully written so "jet propeller"
Done--Flymeoutofhere 12:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Could wikilink "scheduled".
Done--Flymeoutofhere 12:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • "grew fast" - quickly would be better.
Done--Flymeoutofhere 12:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Destinations section has two very short paragraphs, better to flow into one I think.
I agree- was unsure about that one - done--Flymeoutofhere 12:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So I'll place the GA on hold until these are attended to. The Rambling Man 11:36, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another comment, the infobox says founded in 1949, the text says "Arkia's started operations in 1950..." and then "(El Al)...founded the airline as a subsidiary with flights starting the following year..." (presumably 1951). I'm confused about this, so I'm sure others would be too. Can you clarify the situation? The Rambling Man 12:25, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK - I see your point - I got a bit confused there - i think the airline was founded in 1949 by El Al and started operating in 1950 - anyway - this is now cleared up --Flymeoutofhere 12:31, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good stuff, thanks for clearing those up. I'll pass to GA now. The Rambling Man 10:33, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Second Largest Airline

[edit]

I am posting this on Israir Airlines as well. It seems this article and Israir both claim to be Israel's second largest airline. Does anyone know which is correct? HebrewHammerTime 15:20, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA Reassessment

[edit]
This discussion is transcluded from Talk:Arkia Israel Airlines/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment.

I will be doing the GA Reassessment on this article as part of the GA Sweeps project. H1nkles (talk) 21:15, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The primary problem with this article is the structure. Per WP:LEAD the lead is to be a summary of the article, the lead in this article is the body of the text. The main information should be listed after the lead with the lead just summarizing the information.

A secondary problem are the references, Refs [2], [3], and [9] are dead links. This is 1/3 of the references. Also I've added a [citation needed] template to the end of the section on Destinations since this is unreferenced.

To fix the article will require a complete reorganization of the article along with a rewrite of the lead to better summarize the article. The information will need to be broken down into sections so that the article is better formatted and complies with MOS. Citation will need to be found for the Destinations section and references will need to be fixed. Due to the amount of work to be done I will delist the article from GA currently and recommend that work be done and then the article nominated at WP:GAC. If you have questions please contact me at my talk page. H1nkles (talk) 21:31, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A330 order

[edit]

I've reverted this [1] last edit. It again added incorrect information and also had a misleading edit summary since the reference provided had nothing to do with Flightglobal. Furthermore, the source provided mentions the ″A320neo″. The airline had just signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus for a possible acquisition of A330s. This is not a firm order yet.--Jetstreamer Talk 21:29, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted again--Jetstreamer Talk 23:02, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
...and again. The source provided clearly stated a memorandum of understading was signed. Not a firm order yet.--Jetstreamer Talk 11:59, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
...and again. A commitment is not a firm order.--Jetstreamer Talk 19:47, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And again. Requesting protection. Nobody seems to be reading this.--Jetstreamer Talk 14:31, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Missing Planes From Fleet

[edit]

I see on planespotting websites that Arkia has a gulfstream plane too, can anyone confirm the current fleet details? http://www.planespotters.net/photo/394805/4x-cpx-arkia-israeli-airlines-gulfstream-aerospace-g-iv-gulfstream-iv-sp — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikiramiwiki (talkcontribs)

What I can confirm is that Planespotters is not a reliable source.--Jetstreamer Talk 23:00, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the input, here's another source I found - https://planefinder.net/data/aircraft/4X-CPX which databases are considered reliable for checking plane registration details?-- Wikiramiwiki (talk) 19:52, 24 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, most of online aircraft databases are not reliable. A reliable source is Flightglobal.--Jetstreamer Talk 23:58, 24 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

4X-AGN - needs to be added — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.24.112.250 (talk) 15:48, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Source?--Jetstreamer Talk 15:53, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/4x-agn — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.130.99.253 (talk) 18:34, 16 June 2019 (UTC) Also previous user is correct- performs private flights for the company 4X-CMN https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/4x-cmn If entry is locked- please maintain all updates accordingly- if it flies - it exists! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.130.99.253 (talk) 18:45, 16 June 2019 (UTC) Here is a lovely pic you can add of this cute plane!!! https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/9165354 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.130.99.253 (talk) 18:50, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The only thing https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/4x-agn shows is that Arkia operates an A321 with registration 4X-CGN. This source does not state how many A321s are in the fleet. As for the other reference, it shows that the aircraft is under private operations, there are no mentions to Arkia. The article has been protected precisely to avoid the indiscriminate introduction of such information.--Jetstreamer Talk 21:32, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Utterly ridiculous...who was talking about 4X-CGN? It is 4X-CMN- complete listing is on https://www.sky-high.co.il/%D7%90%D7%9E%D7%91%D7%A8%D7%90%D7%A8-4X-CMN.html (Hebrew- use Google Translate if you need). Operates under private hire mostly for RHO flights. And 4X-AGN is operating fully https://centreforaviation.com/news/arkia-receives-third-a321neo-912160 Will escalate! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.255.231.121 (talk) 21:39, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Headquarters

[edit]

Sde Dov has closed. Is there any update on Arkia's headquarters and hub? Ibadibam (talk) 23:35, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
