Second generation
[edit]Is it true that new TT's spoilers activate at 120 kph? I found this in article on spoilers:
- Thus, some spoilers that are effective at very low speeds often generate excessive drag at high speeds, and spoilers that work well at high speeds are often ineffective while moving slowly.
So is new TT's spoiler effective at high speed and does not generate excessive drag at high speeds? –195.210.208.197 15:51, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- The spoiler deploys at (I think) 70 mph and retracts at 50 mph. There is also a manual switch (it's on the centre console just in front of the gear lever). It retracts because the designers didn't want to change the lines around the back end, and it's designed purely for high speed use. SheffieldSteel 03:33, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- The TT spoiler does activate at 120km/h. I've personally tested it on a Australian delivered model. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.31.4.10 (talk • contribs) 01:28, 2007 July 14
TT-S information
[edit]The Wiki provides information about the TT-S and RS models but states them as being fact, when it's all just speculation. Perhaps a new section could be made for this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.31.4.10 (talk • contribs) 01:28, 2007 July 14
Looks like
[edit]I've always thought the TT looked like an evolved VW Bug. I.E. what the Bug might have changed into if it had been changed a little every few years, instead of just the classic and new designs.
Has such an observation ever appeared in literature about the TT? —MJBurrage • TALK • 17:40, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- Its deffinately been refered to as a squashed beetle in motor journalism in the UK.(86.31.188.11 (talk) 13:09, 1 October 2008 (UTC))
Any evidence Audi claims that the understeer is deliberate?
[edit]The whole section trying to explain that away is pretty weak, especially as Audi's newer models in the more serious ranges are moving to rear-balanced steering. John Nevard (talk) 01:10, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
I found the explanation to be relatively convincing, actually, but then again, I do prefer understeer. 1505, 20 March 2008 (AQ) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.152.182.181 (talk) 22:05, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- Krysiak wasn't certified. Can't explain that away, either, whole thing was pretty weak. It was the undercertification, and the Audi didn't run well.--76.212.155.48 (talk) 09:35, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
The understeer was designed in when Audi replaced the front wishbones with the 2nd gen compliant design busings. Good write-up here: http://www.wak-tt.com/mods/defcon/defcon.htm —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.63.157.53 (talk) 18:38, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Origins dispute
[edit]What exactly is being disputed here? The origins of the styling of the TT are fairly well documented [1] [2] [3] (Google cache) [4] although Peter Schreyer, Martin Smith or Romulus Rost could be credited too. Letdorf (talk) 23:44, 27 December 2009 (UTC).
- That's a good question. It's like the origins of the TT name are out of the Oregon woods or something.--76.212.153.176 (talk) 10:41, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
6-speed conventional manual for first-gen 3.2?
[edit]I'm trying to determine if a regular 6-speed manual was available for the first-gen 3.2L variant. This German article presumably says that it was added as an option alongside the standard 6-speed DSG at the end of the 2003 model year, and I presume it's a Euro-only option, because my (Canadian) literature (Carguide's 2004, 2005, and 2006's Buyer's Guides) lists the DSG as the only available transmission throughout the life of this variant for the first-gen TT. --HashiriyaGDB (talk) 18:03, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
US TT-RS production totals
[edit]Doing the research, and compiling the data MYSELF, as I am an owner of a 2012 TT-RS, It is, the MOST ACCURATE data to date, short of a press release from Audi of America. The total US production total is 1407 units. I have gained this simply by asking Audi of America. ANYONE who is an owner can give them the VIN off of their car, and they will give a response in which lists their model year TOTAL, and the breakdown of their particular color code. I compiled a spreadsheet, and asked everyone with the varying colors / years, to put for the question to AOA (Audi of America) and inquire on the totals. We had received the 1407 US total production figure from letters returned to both 2012/2013 owners.
My letter response from AOA:
Reference # 713009649

There was no need to delete my update for the totals as this is straight from Audi of America. If you would like, I can give you my VIN, and you can ask Audi of America for the totals yourself, to corroborate the findings... GAME?
Otherwise, my breakdown for the totals of the US Production Audi Numbers can be found here: http://forums.fourtitude.com/showthread.php?6847328-STICKY-2012-2013-TT-RS-Production-Total-Breakdown-%28VERIFIED-through-Audi-Of-America%29 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.124.68.202 (talk) 18:52, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
Proposed merge with Audi TT Offroad
[edit]This is just a concept car. If it is indeed notable, and I don't think it is, then it needs to go in the main article, and not a seperate page. Manway 05:45, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Photos in the article
[edit]The way photos are jammed to the left at the start of each section creates a strangely narrow and difficult to comprehend column of text. What gives? 842U (talk) 15:05, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
