Awards
[edit]I think separating the awards from the body of the article would strengthen it overall. If someone is dedicated to this article, make another section named Awards, and just mimic how the books are listed. Fdssdf 03:57, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Removed citation needed
[edit]Hi. I added one citation, and removed the tag for the statement about Cleary having written the two autobiographies. I asked at the Teahouse and the consensus was that as the books are listed in the bibliography, it doesn't need an inline citation. Since that's consistent with the rest of the article, I removed it.Tlqk56 (talk) 16:48, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
Use of citations does not preclude use of common sense.
[edit]This edit, and its accompanying edit summary, makes perfect sense, if one believes that, once she dies, Cleary will not be referred to as "one of America's most successful authors". Now if you really believe that her death will change her status in that matter, then fine, go at it, tiger.
But if, instead of trying to be a wikilawyer, you try to apply a smidgen of real-life common sense, you just might see how silly it is to insist upon the inclusion of that word.50.193.171.69 (talk) 19:27, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
- The given reference said she is one America's most successful living authors. This is in no way the same as saying she is one of America's all time most successful authors ever. Clearly there were many American authors writing before she started her career. It's refers to a different set of people. Span (talk) 00:04, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

- The line currently reads, "
One of America's most successful writers of children's literature...
" I'm changing it back to its previous wording, "One of America's most successful living authors," per the source. It's also more meaningful to say (as it says in the source) that she's one of America's most successful living authors [period] versus one of the most successful authors of children's literature. My edits to lead and Early life
[edit]FYI I changed references to Cleary by her maiden name to Cleary and also re-added her maiden name to the lead per WP:BIRTHNAME. A chunk of the Early life section was copied directly from the source, so I revised the wording to avoid copyright violations (see WP:COPYVIO). I also removed content that wasn't supported by any of the current sources per WP:BLP. Some of it might potentially be worth re-adding with appropriate sourcing, but a lot of it was trivia anyway. PermStrump(talk) 01:59, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
- I got rid of the personal life section because all of the stuff that was in there was already covered in the Early life section, but I think maybe there should be a section to talk about her personal life as an adult, like having kids. There's not much about her because she apparently didn't do a lot of interviews. When she did, she talked about her inspirations, etc., and not much about her current persnal life, so there won't be much. PermStrump(talk) 08:36, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
- Although the contribution is very modest, I added a section about her later life. It goes back to her marriage (not really so "later") and her 100th anniversary. You are right, the sources are slim. I will keep searching for sources in the other sections.

Need help verifying sources
[edit]So far I've gone through all of the Early life section and about half of the Career section attempting to verify sources and replacing them when necessary. It's sad how poorly sourced this article is. Of the ones I've checked, most of them did not correspond with the material it was attributed to. Is there anyone watching this talkpage that might be interested in helping to verify sources? PermStrump(talk) 07:57, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
- Let me see if I can help. This is a busy work time for me so I can't promise a fast and thorough turn-around.

Recent photo?
[edit]How about a recent photo? She still looks remarkable (considering); there are plenty of photos of when she turned 100, e.g.[1]. 107.15.157.44 (talk) 00:09, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
