Spanish ancestry[edit]

Is she really of part-Spanish ancestry, as implied by the categories (including Category:Eurasians) she is filed under?

No she isn't. She's Filipino born and besides the chances of being 1/4 Irish and British are very rare especially to those living in Philippines. I would accept the fact that she's at least a quarter Spanish.

Read the source provided and it states her ethnicity as "One-fourth Irish, one-fourth Spanish, half Filipino". I have added back the information and the source to the article. Aspects (talk) 17:24, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. That insane. She's born in the Philippines, lived there, and has no direct or known ancestors who had European ancestries or such so its very unbelieveable of her to make claims of such. But her word is her word and it still has to stay on this page cause it was coming from her own words. PS: She looks too native looking to be even Spanish or at least have European ancestry but she can still pass if she said that she was 'Mexican' descent lol Blueknightex (talk) 06:40, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Someone born in the Philippines could have a Caucasian (Irish/Spanish) father and a 100% Filipina mother, or have a parent who is half-Irish and half-Filipino and a parent who is half-Spanish and half-Filipino. Image purported to be the subject's father watching her performance.[edit]

The description of this image as provided to Wikimedia Commons by the United States Navy says, "Aboard USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19) March 24, 2004 - Machinist's Mate 1st Class William Velasco, from Batanes, Philippines and a shipmate watch Velasco’s daughter, Camile Velasco, 18, of Maui, Hawaii, perform her rendition of the classic song 'Desperado' on the nationally televised 'American Idol'". This seems somewhat inconsistant with her parents owning a restaurant at the time, as currently stated in the article. BD2412 T 04:09, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
