He is signafigant for his discoveries of hominid fossils. The Canadian encylopedia mentions him. Many books on the subject matter note him.

The article suggests, that Black was one of the main excavators, but he first joined the project after having heard of the first two teeth (), and what he at first did, was just naming what others had discovered. --De.Gerbil (talk) 18:12, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
