Billed weight

[edit]

In FCW he's billed at 19 stone. Should that information be put up instead of using English/Metric weights? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.143.187.108 (talk) 19:14, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you can provide a reliable source, then sure. ♥NiciVampireHeart20:03, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
On His WWE Website Bio Hes Billed as 18 stone; See here: http://www.wwe.com/superstars/smackdown/drewmcintyre/bio/ - Titan —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.207.110.105 (talk) 19:20, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And stone is the weight system we English/British people use, that's why he's being billed as that as a Briton. Tony2Times (talk) 19:11, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Appearance for WWE

[edit]

I've edited in his appearance on Smackdown.--HDC7777 08:03, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Why was this edit removed?--HDC7777 16:18, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • I've edited the article again, as there is a degree of uncertainty about whether Drew did actually appear on Smackdown. He says it wasn't him, so I've removed the segment until it is clarified either way.
I didnt watch the show so i dont know whether it was him or not (though it wouldnt suprise me), when a source is found, add the statement along with the source correctly added as a reference. --- Paulley
I asked him personally (we used to train together) and he said it wasn't him. The guy on TV looked smaller too.--HDC7777 19:34, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Signed for WWE

[edit]

I have it on good authority that Drew has been signed to a developmental deal with WWE. I won't post anything on the main article until I have more concrete sources.--HDC7777 10:41, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He lives on the same street as my cousin. Added a pic.

Him and tiffany getting engaged is that a relaible source? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.107.9.26 (talk) 02:58, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well the one currently in the article is from the Wrestling Obsever, so yes. ♥NiciVampireHeart07:30, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality

[edit]

As highlighted in this concise essay, there is no established consensus on how exactly a person from the United Kingdom would be referred to in the opening paragraph of their articles, and is therefore largely left to each article's editors and article-specific cases. I therefore feel that it's important for us to reach consensus for this particular article, as it seems to be consistently raised during edits. Personally, I feel that we should use the term Scottish, as he is always identified and referred to as such, and also seems to self-identify as such as well; similar usage on these terms is seen on articles such as Sean Connery, where Connery is widely referred to as Scottish and as such the consensus is clear that he be referred to as such. ···巌流? · talk to ganryuu 21:04, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, as the essay explains, Scotland and England are constituent countries that compose the United Kingdom, so they are widely categorized as countries and nations (notably in sporting and competitive events) in their own right. This matter therefore should not be an issue in the slightest, as it's quite clear; what is far more important, in my opinion, is that verifiability is met and that we use the term he is most commonly referred to and identified as. ···巌流? · talk to ganryuu 21:14, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't care either way which is why I never revert it when it's changed, I'd probably agree that Scottish is more suitable but I've been trying to think of a concise way to write it that might include both British and Scottish to stop the pointless edits. Perhaps a "British wrestler from Scotland"? Tony2Times (talk) 21:51, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting idea, though "British wrestler from Scotland" just might seem a tad bit redundant or long, to be honest. Either way, I've never really seen him being referred to as British, so whether or not that really needs to be included is something that needs to be discussed in length before we decide on including it at all. ···巌流? · talk to ganryuu 20:43, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it is tautalogical but I only offered it as a compromise. Most, if not all, of the people who are changing it back and forth have no regard for Wiki rules and I just wanna see it stopped. Part of me wonders whether an invisible message might at least stymy some attempts. Tony2Times (talk) 21:58, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
A message is quite a good idea; it would help stem such edits. Also, this article can be semi-protected due to excessive vandalism, so that should take care of any edits. ···巌流? · talk to ganryuu 22:03, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just want to/would like to see written that even though he is from scotland, the main nationality, as a whole, is British. It is like if someone said that he is not american but washingtonian. I don't know, I see it like that. Please tell me if i'm wrong. ҢДM(Hundry Marquina!) 21:17, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Scotland, as is England and Wales, is a constituent country and home nation that forms the United Kingdom, and is therefore considered a nation in its own right. For more information, please see this essay. It's not the same as an American state, so that analogy would be incorrect. As the aforementioned essay demonstrates, there are many instances in which Scottish or English people who have been most commonly referred to or identified as Scottish or English, especially sportsmen and athletes but others as well, are referred to as such. For a related example, see Dave Finlay, where the subject's article correctly describes him as Northern Irish, rather than British. ···巌流? · talk to ganryuu 22:03, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just to chuck in my two cents here: I think it should say "Scottish" as it's more specific. All Scottish people are British, but not all British people are Scottish. British is somewhat vague in my opinion, and it raises questions. If I hear the term British wrestler, I'd immediately think but which in country in Britain is he from? ♥NiciVampireHeart13:03, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
He's billed from Ayr, Scotland. It's fine as it is. All sports are for usually who they represent. Check any soccer page. None of them should ever mention Britain/UK as their description (David Beckham English footballer). Pretty much every person page will mention if they are Scottish, English, Welsh, unless they are some sort of mix or personal/political stance. eg: there's Elton John English songwriter. Logie Baird Scottish inventor. Tony Blair British Prime Minister. The link just up above from user Ganryuu describes it well. --Revolt (talk) 15:03, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Degree

[edit]

As far as I know from knowing Drew personally, I'm pretty sure (don't quote me though) that he was doing his criminology degree but abandoned it when he got offered his WWE contract in June 2007. Not sure though. That's just what I remember him saying, but it was years ago so probably inaccurate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.17.148.42 (talk) 15:34, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just going from the sources I read; this Record article states he finished the degree and as nowhere else that I could find either said he dropped out or completed it, I went with what I read. If you can find a source from the horse's mouth more the better, but unfortunately we can't take your word for it, even though I know some people who know him too. Orphaned references in Drew Galloway

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Drew Galloway's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Scot Drop?

Scot Drop was never a Reverse STO. It was what Future Shock was originally called. Even in the 2011 game they call it "Scot Drop". Proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghIIAJ8ZriQ 71.183.89.177 (talk) 15:07, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Sub Headings

[edit]

I think we need to sort out a problem this article is having when it comes to the sub headings between 2009 to 2012. I beleive they need to be kept The Chosen One (2009-2011), Brand switches (2011-2012) and 3MB (2012). However, some people have a different idea and keep changing it. We need to stop changing these sub headers and come to a consensus on how the 2009-2012 should be laid out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GamingWithStatoke (talkcontribs) 13:31, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Five Time World Champion?

[edit]

I'm curious how Drew is a "5 time World champion". By my accounts he won the WWE world title twice and the TNA World title once. So, if anything it should be three times. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.196.67.65 (talk) 18:21, 22 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on how people determine world title. If it's PWI recognised singles titles, he is a three time world champion. If including PWI recognised world titles, including tag team, he's held five.
People often count the ICW World Heavyweight Championship, which is not PWI recognised. I don't object to that particularly but bundling his first ICW reign into World title status on the strength of the second reign (https://ecstasyofgoldwrestling.wordpress.com/2022/11/01/new-phenom-the-icw-world-heavyweight-championship-reign-of-drew-galloway/) is a big stretch.
Lastly, some other wrinkles occur as he announced the EVOLVE Championship (https://ecstasyofgoldwrestling.wordpress.com/2022/08/07/self-chosen-the-evolve-championship-reign-of-drew-galloway) had earned World title status in 2015 *and* some news sites (and WWE.com itself) occasionally referred to his NXT Championship reign as a World Championship. TLDR: I would say three World titles between WWE and TNA since most people go by PWI.
Hope this helps. SugeRight (talk) 02:10, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing "RAW's Gold Medal of Excellence" from Championships & Accomplishments

[edit]

Unless there is a Wikipedia policy that I'm missing, please stop removing "RAW's Gold Medal of Excellence" from Drew McIntyre's "Championships & Accomplishments" section.

What we think of the prestige or value of this accomplishment is pretty irrelevant. It's really not debatable that it occurred and it's easy to reliably verify this.

It's listed on his WWE.com profile, a physical medal was awarded by an on-screen authority figure on WWE RAW television, it is available on WWE's YouTube/Peacock/WWE Network, many news sites reported on it and it's listed in a number of his independent profiles as an accomplishment/accolade/career highlight.

That is it not a repeat accolade does not disqualify it from inclusion on Wikipedia, since there are many one-offs titles/trophies/cups/awards/battle royals in WWE/wrestling history which are listed on Wikipedia. This includes ones which are not recorded on WWE.com under wrestler profiles, etc.

Ultimately, this section refers to his Championships & Accomplishments within WWE and WWE lists it among his "Career Highlights" along with his other title wins and the 2020 Royal Rumble. If it's demonstrably canon in WWE that this is one of Drew McIntyre's "Accomplishments" then it should be canon here.

RAW's Gold Medal of Excellence is now detailed and sourced in these two relevant sections:
Drew McIntyre#Championships and accomplishments
Drew McIntyre#Alliance with Dolph Ziggler (2018–2019)
If there's an issue with any of the sources already used, I hope you will find plenty above which will substitute them. SugeRight (talk) 02:51, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
