It's First
[edit]I have warned the anon user who keeps changing FTPE to TPE. Btline (talk) 17:48, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- I can understand the cause of the confusion, though — they seem to add or remove the ‘First’ from their name whenever they get a bit bored. David Arthur (talk) 15:07, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- In fact, the <title> of their home page seems to suggest they may even be called First TransPennine Trains! Divy (talk) 16:13, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
the company was set up as transpennine express ,their website is transpenninexpress.co.uk ,the department for transport call them transpennine express or (TPE) http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/rail/pi/wcml/wcms2008timetables/wcmstranspenninetimetable ,manchester Piccadilly screens call them Transpennine express ,Digital Doris at Manchester Piccadilly last time I heard called them Transpennine express and lastly they are joint venture between First and Keolis.
That is the fair point I am trying to make, i'm not trying to be a nuisance and i'm not trying to damage wikipedia as i use it a fair bit for my college work, However I feel that both names should be related to in the article and I think i'm making a valid point here.
Thanks everyone, take care p.s. i will be changing the tpe bracket reference slightly. User:Noddingdonkey142
- Ok, here is a fact. Despite many name changes, the company is called First TPE. Fact. Keolis call it TPE, because they reject First throwing their name about. Anything else that calls them TPE is out of date or ignorant. the website is tpexpress dot com because they can't be bothered to change it (again), and maybe because Keolis objected.
- But the fact is that it is First! look at the recent timetable booklets. Dynamic lines all over- it's First all right! Btline (talk) 18:40, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't see the need for anyone to get in a fluster here, im not trying to make a point nor am i trying to be difficult, all i am saying is i think that transpennine express should be a name variation mentioned, its no big deal
take care
Noddingdonkey142 (talk) 01:21, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- It is. I added it in a while back. Regards, Btline (talk) 19:13, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
This needs to be sorted, what is it with all the names "also known as". It looks stupid and silly. The company name is First TransPennine Express regardless of what it has been in the past. I dont see what the problem about this is. Year1989 16:01, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
I agree. The reason why I added "also known as.... etc." is because there was a user who would not take it that the name is FTPE! It was appeasement.
By all means change it - just watch out for said user! Btline (talk) 22:24, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
As a regular traveller on TPE services I notice that the announcements and most signage and the trains livery mostly say only Transpennine Express and that the only bit to cnnect it with First is the First Group "F" logo except on the route maps above the doors which do have the full "First transforming travel" symbol also the legal name of the company is First/Keolis Transpennine Ltd. so perhaps the article should be called Transpennine Express as opposed to First Transpennine Express. Penrithguy (talk) 21:32, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- I have to disagree with your statement about announcements; they always start with, "Welcome aboard this First Transpennine Express service to..." The same is usually true for the station announcements, although the departure boards do tend to leave off the 'First' - possibly due to space constraints. JCzech (talk) 00:40, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
I have changed the start of this article to comply with what is said on the last page of the online version on the national rail conditions of carriage. http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/system/galleries/download/misc/NRCOC.pdf —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.139.90.43 (talk) 22:43, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I've rv your edit. The TOC is called "First Transpennine Express" - as per their website, timetables, trains and on announcements. Btline (talk) 22:54, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
- It is widely accepted amongst us staff that they call themself something different each week. In a letter from the their solicitors last week, they abbreviated the company's full, actual title of First Keolis Transpennine Express Ltd to just "F.K. Transpennine Express." ....causing some hilarity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.3.34.158 (talk) 10:45, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Hunts Cross
[edit]Hi,
I have added Hunts Cross to the North Transpennine route map as it does receive a TPE service, (albeit very limited). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.25.232.164 (talk) 01:34, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
- I would also suggest going onto the surrounding stations pages and adding Hunts Cross Station into the TPX route boxes, and also adding in a TPX route box in the correct place on the Hunts Cross page. Tpxpress (talk) 18:04, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
Scotland
[edit]I have imported the other project banners from Talk:South TransPennine because that is now a redirect, but I am puzzled about the inclusion of the Scottish project here. Can anyone explain?--Robert EA Harvey (talk) 10:07, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
- Could it perchance be related to the fact that they run trains to Glasgow and Edinburgh? Tim PF (talk) 15:23, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
- Good point, well made.--Robert EA Harvey (talk) 20:09, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
- I've pulled in the banners from the other redirect pages, and the missing regional projects too. --Robert EA Harvey (talk) 20:30, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
- I thought you missed out Humberside, but then it looks like there isn't one (certainly {{WikiProject Lincolnshire}} includes reference to Barton-upon-Humber).
- Aye. Lincolnshire & Yorkshire projects both cover the 'ceremonial' Counties, we don't need the corpse of Humberside! The sooner it is forgotten, the better.--Robert EA Harvey (talk) 07:09, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

24 hour service
[edit]The text reads as of 23 April 2014, "First TransPennine Express is one of the few UK train operating companies running 24 hours a day, including through New Year's Eve night. For example, trains run between York, Leeds and Manchester Airport at least every three hours every night of the week." But once every three hours during the night can imply as little as
- last train at 2300
- "middle-of-the-night train" at 0200
- start of new day at 0500.
Adding one train in the middle of the night, that's not really a 24-hour service, now is it? Does anyone mind if I/we remove this claim? Classical geographer (talk) 10:48, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
- If there is a source like Modern Railways or The Railway Magazine that describes it as a 24-hour service, it can stay - provided it is sourced. --Redrose64 (talk) 12:57, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Future rolling stock
[edit]It is premature to include this section. See Wikipedia policy wp:CRYSTAL. Wait until it actually happens or at least the train leasing contracts have been signed. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 15:54, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
- I don't see a problem with including information that has been officially announced, such as 44x brand new 5-car trains and the Hitachi AT300 order. Agreed that it'd be premature to assume a class number, or otherwise anything unannounced.79.66.236.36 (talk) 13:20, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- I agree, what was wrong with including information that First themselves have announced? If they later announce that they have been unable to find the trains necessary then it can be changed. Absolutelypuremilk (talk) 16:00, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- Absolutelypuremilk, this TOC no longer exists, there is no future rolling stock. -mattbuck (Talk) 23:11, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

North TransPennine routemap
[edit]Afternoon folks,
The route diagram for the North TransPennine route appears to be the updated one for the new franchise from the May 2018 change, and therefore is not appropriate for this article. Is anyone able to restore the old diagram (aka pre-2018) into a new template specifically for use in this article?. TC60054 (talk) 15:50, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
