Hayes is a west London suburb in England once administered by Middlesex County Council with considerable though declining industrial activity, once drawn to the infrastructure of the Grand Union Canal that flanks the town centre. Parallel to that east-west canal, now used predominantly by recreational boaters, runs a fast four-track railway line part of the Great Western Railway which serves stations such as Paddington and Kensington Olympia on the western edge of central London. The local station is called Hayes and Harlington station and it functions as a convenient interchange with frequent buses linking London Heathrow Airport and Harrow. This dog-legged route appeals to Heathrow workers and passengers partly because many aviation-related firms and hotels are clustered along the A4 road that separates the northern airport runway from residential districts and partly because a premium fare is levied on passengers that choose to travel on the Heathrow Express train service to or from London Paddington. Buses to the low-rise Stockley Park business park built on former gravel pits, also link to Hayes and Harlington Station, to the centre of the busy airport, and to West Drayton station that performs a similar interchange role for rail passengers approaching Heathrow from places in Oxfordshire or Berkshire.

If the Crossrail scheme proceeds then that premium fare arrangement might need to be phased-out, which would clearly make the direct rail service more popular and perhaps, uncomfortably congested. A small railway museum can be found at nearby Southall. The significant plane builder Fairey Aviation had a factory at Hayes until about 1990. This produced aircarft such as the STOL Lysander, the nimble Firefly, the noisy, shipboard Gannet and the diminutive Scout and Wasp helicopters, a few of which survive on civil registers. By the time of this helicopter building period the company had become part of the Westland group. EMI records is another long-established employer with premises close to the railway.

Harlington's future is particularly threatened by a scheme yet to be elaborated for a third parallel runway for Heathrow. This relatively short extra runway was suggested publicly by the airport's commercial operator close to the M4 motorway in about 2000 on land well-beyond the airport's current northern perimeter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.78.83.84 (talk) 00:06, 10 December 2004 (minor revisions subsequently added by —Preceding unsigned comment added by Francs2000 (talkcontribs) 20:22, 4 February 2005 and —Preceding unsigned comment added by ADNghiem501 (talkcontribs) 01:08, 4 August 2006).

– I believe Hayes, Hillingdon is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC of Hayes. As stated on that page I have used the pageview analysis tool to compare all the listed articles on that disambiguation page solely named "Hayes". The analysis proves that Hayes, Hillingdon is dominant out of all these links and therefore qualifies as a primary topic. Permalink of the analysis: [1].

I compared the analysis of Hayes, Hillingdon with other solely named "Hayes" articles, of which there 9 (8 places, one surname). The results of 5 years' data show that Hayes, Hillingdon, is by far the most popular article.

  • Hayes, Hillingdon has had 334,716 views, which is alone 59% of the total views of all these ten articles.
  • The monthly average views is almost 3x higher than second placed Hayes (surname), 5x higher than third placed Hayes, Bromley, and 19x higher than fourth placed The Hayes
  • It has had more editors than Hayes (surname), and more than double the number of editors compared to Hayes, Bromley (56)
  • The article size of 106k bytes is also more than the other nine combined.

I've looked at the Hayes command set article and as the name already says, it is seldom referred to as simply "Hayes" but with the "command set" next to it. File:Yeading Brook Meadows 2.JPG

Because Hayes, Hillingdon, has multiple times the view numbers of other "Hayes" pages and has multiple times the size and content (i.e. proving popularity and long-term notability), there is no doubt in my mind that Hayes, Hillingdon is a primary topic and should be moved to Hayes.

Note: Hayes titles a dab page with significant content and so is ineligible as a new page title unless it is also proposed to be renamed. This request has been altered to reflect that fact. P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 23:49, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
