Link between antisemitism and ban on free speech
[edit]Currently the lead of the article implies that its because of antisemitism, that French and German banned pro-Palestinian sentiment, including the keffiyeh. But the keffiyeh is not antisemitic, nor is most pro-Palestinian speech.VR (Please ping on reply) 16:34, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- I agree it could be clarified as “pro-Hamas” instead of “antisemitic” (although I assume the rational is that pro-Hamas is antisemitic). Leaving it as just antisemitic is a bit misleading. 71.179.129.209 (talk) 19:54, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Describing a traditional Palestinian item of clothing as "pro-Hamas" would also be misleading. AntiDionysius (talk) 20:14, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- To say “accusation of being pro-Hamas” is not misleading. That is what they are being accused of (even if you disagree with that characterization). 71.179.129.209 (talk) 20:18, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Right, but the comment you were replying to is objecting to the use of "antisemitic" on the basis that it's not true, not that it's an inaccurate characterisation of an accusation. AntiDionysius (talk) 20:23, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
