Joe Panik's nickname.

[edit]

Where do nicknames come from? From the public which make their way into the written record. Joe Jesus and Joey Baseball(Joe Chill is an abomination) are commonly accepted nicknames for Joe Panik which have not made their way into the wide public lexicon. Who better to give Panik a nickname than the legion of incredible Giants fans at mccoveychronicles.com? Why does their opinion of something so arbitrary mean less than the words of a sportswriter? This is the definition of class warfare. I implore the mods to let the nicknames stand and end this bloody edit war.

I agree, and there is a twete out there that mentions that Tom Verducci called Joe Panik "Joey Baseball" in the World Series. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.76.18.85 (talk) 21:10, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That SB Nation article [1] doesn't associate those nicknames with Panik. Per WP:NEWSBLOG "Never use blog posts that are left by readers as sources". AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:22, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This SB Nation article uses "Joey Baseball" to refer to Joe Panik. Is this a good enough source? http://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2015/8/3/9071203/best-giants-infield-ever-diphtheria-stanky-69 107.3.154.78 (talk)! — Preceding undated comment added 20:32, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

One mention isn't sufficient in my view. Something like this becomes apparent, but I don't see "Joey Baseball" or anything of that sort becoming a prevalent nickname. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:47, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If it's somewhat notable like Brandon Belt's "baby giraffe", it can go in the body of the article. If it's prominent like Mr. October then it can go in the lead. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:07, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

He has been reported to the mets, so I want to edit it to say he is on the mets Scoot16 (talk) 18:28, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: The key word is that it is "reported". It has not been announced. Jon Heyman himself said "once they clear roster spot". That hasn't happened yet, so the deal hasn't gone through yet. Please provide sources that say it's official when it becomes official. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:31, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Now it's official. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:57, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
