citations

While it's nice that it has over 50 citations, why are they so alarmingly sparse in the debut section? Pandacomics (talk) 01:43, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

section 'TV shows' plus original bio info to become section 'Television and acting'

Again I put bio information into section Television and acting, as TV and acting is certainly an important part of pop art, and their involvement is an important aspect for Kara as a group. (a word to SKS, if you look around, you won't be surprised by many band or artist articles having a section of TV and film acting as a major section) This section needs to be clean up a little I should admit. For now it is at least a place holder that has all the original information contained in previous versions, to start with. Clari 2010 11 May 2010 —Preceding undated comment added 14:01, 11 May 2010 (UTC).

re-structured

Removed biographies(to be exact, short profiles) of each member as it is not a standard to include member biography for a band article. The majority of the content in the biographies, however, is not removed. This is because the information in previous biographies are mainly information about their TV and acting activities, thus an existing section 'TV shows' is expanded into 'Television and Acting' with each individual's TV and acting activities. Also removed previous discussion of the removal of biographies. Clari 2010 11 May 2010

I don't want to be pessimistic or anything, but this makes the page look more cluttered to me, as all the information in the member bio section was just crammed elsewhere. I know that having a lengthy members section isn't much better, but at least it was organized.
But then, I could be in the minority, so...thoughts? SKS (talk) 04:15, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
I've placed citations in the 'Members' section since that tag has been on there since November 2008. The ref list is messy I know, I'll try to clean it up as best as I can. Akkies (talk) 05:15, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
I second SKS. It does look clutter. There no need to have so many subheadings in the history section.Cherrieslovable (talk) 22:34, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Some sections need to go. Provide sources instead - for improvement of article's quality

The least important sections has got to go. Sorry but if you guys want to improve this article's quality then try and summarise things and cut out the parts that aren't really important and can be easily found.

Try putting a source as well so that the people reading this article doesn't need to read a whole paragraph. When you guys shorten and section and the reader wants to know more he/she will just have to click on the source instead which will lead to source that explains more. Please do try. Blueknightex (talk) 10:35, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Need more pictures on this article.

Please, if you have any pictures of KARA at a concert, fan-meeting or showcase/venture in Japan then you are more than welcome to post them here. Don't be shy. We need some pictures to increase the quality of this article a little bit more. Blueknightex (talk) 09:09, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Try to expand "Awards" ---> "Awards and nominations" section

Most artists including groups in Wikipedia have that in their section. It is important to place it there to improve the quality of the article and make it more relevant. Bleubeatle (talk) 02:15, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

too LONG & too UPDATED

Wiki hates updates. Plus, the article is SUPER LONG. BLBLBLBLBL (talk) 18:19, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

The article has been re-organized and compressed. Hope its easier to read now.Bleubeatle (talk) 02:17, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

They are not a band. They are a 'group'.

I don't get why its called "Kara (band)" because they are a group? How do you change this to "Kara (group)" instead?Masterpeace3 (talk) 06:58, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Normally you would do it by moving the page (but don't do that without getting agreement on its talk page first). In this case, though, there is already a redirect from Kara (group) to here, so changing them round would require help from an administrator, and it is probably not worth it.--ColinFine (talk) 08:52, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
Ok but why are they called a 'band'? Is it alright to refer to them as a band even though they are a group? Masterpeace3 (talk) 23:34, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
As far as I'm aware, sometime in the 80's or 90's people stopped talking about groups and started calling them bands. I have no idea if there is a difference today. --ColinFine (talk) 10:37, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

Early beginnings & Debut

Sources for this is difficult to find.

I'm not sure if it's okay to add the info on their first fanmeet or not.

Should I add stuff about how they promoted each single, but were overshadowed by WG and SNSD? That seems kinda, Idk.

Maybe something about Showvival?

It's hard to expand this part of the article because they really didn't do much... Gittyjona42 (talk) 01:00, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Editing needed

The introductory section is too long and detailed. Some needs moving into the main article.

Also, the word "eventually" is overused. and I am not sure about the talk of come-backs. -- Beardo (talk) 18:09, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Yeah that's what I was wondering as well when I first read it. I think with some work, this article can become a good article. I just shortened it now and made some changes here. Masterpeace3 (talk) 23:23, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

I honestly don't think it's THAT long. If you see alot of the other articles, they're much longer than Kara's. It's a good length IMO. Btw, "Fastest South Korean in Japan" made me laugh so hard. Gittyjona42 (talk) 00:38, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Well I understand that so yeah its alright I guess but I think you are mentioning too much on this edit. At the Oricon part; "making them the first foreign female group since the creation of the Oricon to rank #1 in the first week of release and the first foreign female group in 30 years to do so." - I don't think that mentioning "first foreign female group" in one sentence is necessary. Also, I reckon that its too soon to place Pandora. Masterpeace3 (talk) 10:20, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Hmm, I guess Jumping could be taken out, because it was promoted in both countries at once. And Pandora is totally a hit! It hit melon roof! A first for Kara! But yeah, it may be too early.Gittyjona42 (talk) 15:59, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Get this article to Good Article status?

This article's got a lot of information and yet it still doesn't have that good article sign. So I reckon we should work on getting it. If you guys are interested, then read the Wikipedia:Good article criteria. Let's do it for KARA! Masterpeace3 (talk) 10:01, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

The first step is getting some images in the articles. I don't have any of my own, so the ones I upload would probably be copyrighted. Anyone with images are welcomed to add them to the article in appropriate sections.Gittyjona42 (talk) 16:02, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Hara, Gyuri and Seungyeon have left the group. Hara will be going into the acting business. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.87.0.117 (talk) 14:28, 5 January 2016

Edit Request: All member are past member

Previously, I edited and User:Random86 reverted. I will talk about this issue. In the news, Park Gyu-ri revealed that the group did not disband and that the members hope to release new albums in the future. I think she just say about reunion in other name group, not named in KARA because DSP Media did a copyright trademark name.[1] [2] It can't possible to member reunion with KARA, named. They have one way that is a rejoin with DSP Media. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zealous37 (talkcontribs) 14:36, 2 June 2016 (UTC)

I had previously edited the page to show the group was disbanded, but I was reverted by other editors. I agree that is it is likely impossible for the members to release more albums as Kara, since DSP owns the name. However, Fin.K.L never officially disbanded either. That page says "Fin.K.L is technically still in existence, but has remained inactive and defunct since 2005." Random86 (talk) 07:51, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

Gyuri says she, Seungyeon, and Hara never left, but they were under different labels, does that mean they are current?76.174.35.70 (talk) 20:40, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

Kara is legally disbanded, but members are still in contact. How should we show that?

If I am correct Kara IS legally disbanded, since no-one signed a contract with DSP to continue to be part of the band. But this Wikipedia article states that they are just in hiatus. I think it's impossible isn't it? I mean most other members have signed a contract with other companies, and never signed back to DSP to continue the Kara name. So, what should we put? I believe Gyu-ri is just trying to explain that the members are not "disbanded" in practice and are still in contact with each other, but they cannot use the name "Kara" anymore. 115.66.203.56 (talk) 16:51, 30 August 2017 (UTC)

Move discussion in progress

The status of KARA

I know you have mentioned to me multiple times Kara is disbanded. But based on SS501, (Where Hyunjoong confirmed they were active, but not the label,) I honestly think there is no disbandment, and 3 reliable sources confirm so, with statements by aGyuri and Youngji saying the group is on hiatus, but plan to reunite soon.

Requested move 2 September 2022

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: not moved. Opposed because there are several other contending articles and the use of simply "group" may be too ambiguous.

There has not been much discussion of Kara (British band) (and it wasn't formally added to the request), so that shouldn't be affected by this if anybody still wishes to look into that. (closed by non-admin page mover) ASUKITE 15:38, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Kara (South Korean group)Kara (group) – There is no other article about another group named Kara. RapMonstaXY (talk) 11:41, 2 September 2022 (UTC) RapMonstaXY (talk) 11:41, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

Support Looking at the history of redirections, the original dab topic marker applied on this title was '(band)'. This was moved in 2015 to '(South Korean band)' dab topic marker, presumbly to further disambiguate the then newly created article of 'Kara (British band)'. In 2018, this page was moved to the current dab topic marker '(South Korean group)'.
WP:BANDDAB is clear on which dab topic marker to apply: '(band)' for when the ensemble has members performing with instruments, '(group)' for when the ensemble has members being mainly vocalists with others playing the instruments. As for 'Kara (British band)', maybe it should be moved to the '(band)' dab topic marker as well, since there is no other band named Kara on Wikipedia at the moment. – robertsky (talk) 15:41, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
@RapMonstaXY do you mind if the request is modified to include moving Kara (British band) as well? – robertsky (talk) 04:33, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
Yes. The page Kara (British band) shall be moved to Kara (band). RapMonstaXY (talk) 09:23, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
