Endorsement: TYR

[edit]

@Chaheel Riens and Kcpohio1:

TYR is Ledecky's first endorsement. As such, it may be important, but, whether or not deemed notable, it is backed by reliable sources, including the Washington Post.

I suppose my issue is that we'd best come to some sort of consensus as to whether it's notable, and, if so, how to word it. Thanks! — Javert2113 (talk; please ping me in your reply on this page) 14:15, 8 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Javert2113: I'd agree with your first statement - if it's backed by sources other than TYR themselves, then it becomes notable and is ok for inclusion. The Washington Post is a good start. Tbh, I'd go as far as to say it could be added now based on The Washington Post. My initial removal was based on the source being the sponsors themselves, and the terrible marketing prose that was contained within. Chaheel Riens (talk) 14:21, 8 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Chaheel Riens: Fair enough. I understand completely: best to keep marketing and advertising off of Wikipedia. Now, I'm just not sure how to word it... — Javert2113 (talk; please ping me in your reply on this page) 14:25, 8 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Photo Change

[edit]

I work for Wasserman, a sports marketing and talent management company. We represent Katie Ledecky, and we would like to change the photo on her Wiki page.

Surname

[edit]

Shouldn’t her surname technically be Ledecka? 82.4.6.68 (talk) 22:07, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There's no "technically" about it. Her surname is Ledecky. 67.188.115.109 (talk) 18:24, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Although Ledecky has Czech ancestry, she herself was born and raised in the USA, and her first language in English, and she has never used Ledecká as her surname. In such cases, we do not include an older, non-English version of a person's surname in an article. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 04:46, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2024 Olympics

[edit]

I have never commented on here but four sentences to sum up what Katie accomplished at the Olympics in Paris seems unworthy of all significant historical records she attained. I'm glad someone wrote something but just seems that a little more is needed Just my humble option. 73.178.160.241 (talk) 01:33, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
