First in 1981?
[edit]This article currently claims:
- When opened in 1981, the Port Liner was the world's first urban transport AGT.
However, the Morgantown Personal Rapid Transit began operation in 1975 in Morgantown, West Virginia, USA. The Morgantown system appears to also be a Automated guideway transit system. So how does the Kobe Port Island Line merit being called first in the world if it opened six years after another system? 67.86.73.252 (talk) 13:41, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
- The Toronto Zoo Domain Ride was a monorail AGT that operated from 1976 to 1994. 67.86.73.252 (talk) 02:02, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- The article for the Tokyo Yurikamome mentions "However, the line is not the first in Japan, as Kobe's Port Liner opened in 1981, 14 years before the Yurikamome." and does not try to imply that the Port Liner was the first in the world, rather only the first in Japan. 67.86.73.252 (talk) 02:14, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- I have changed the wording to reflect the fact that it was the first in Japan, not in the world. --DAJF (talk) 02:20, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks very much. It looks good. By the way the claim at the Tampa International Airport article is that the Westinghouse people mover there was the first in the world (probably operational in 1971 or 1972) and the claim at Satellite Transit System is that it was the second in the United States in 1973 - and it has an external reference for the claim. (I realize some may wish to draw a distinction between an urban AGT and one for an airport, zoo, or amusement park). 67.86.73.252 (talk) 02:49, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
