Common name

Per WP:COMMONNAME, I was checking the three possibilities for this article's title Lilimar Hernández, Lilimar and the current Lilimar Hernandez. She has acting credits using all of those names. Spanish language sources use "Lilimar Hernández", most current English language sources use "Lilimar Hernandez" although she is credited on Bella and the Bulldogs as "Lilimar". I think it is justified to keep this article at "Lilimar Hernandez" with redirects to here from the other names used. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:40, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WP:BLPLEAD

As per WP:BLPLEAD, ethnicity should not be mentioned in the lede, only nationality, and thus "Venezuelan-American" is inappropriate, as it's an "ethnicity tag" (i.e. for a "type" of American). As she was born in Venezuela, that's what needs to be in the lede. If she has American citizenship (as I assume she does), then that can be mentioned in the 'Personal life' section, as long as it is properly sourced. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:57, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up

As per this discussion, I have changed this article's lede, etc. to reflect that Lilimar Hernandez is an "American actress". As per MOS:BLPLEAD, "the country of which the person is a citizen, national or permanent resident" is what should be listed in the lede, and as Lilimar Hernandez is at least a "permanent resident" of the U.S. (she is likely a citizen, though there is no sourcing about that...), and all of her "notable works" have been done in the United States, it is proper to categorize her as "American" in the lede. (On my end, I wouldn't object to having it be "Venezuelan-born American actress" in the lede, as per Sasha Pieterse, though some editors feel strongly about this, and will oppose it...) --IJBall (contribs • talk) 16:45, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

American vs. Venezuelan in into

From the article: Lilimar Hernandez (born June 2, 2000[1]), also known mononymously as Lilimar, is a Venezuelan actress. I think we've talk about this before, but this strikes me as being a lot like the cases of Breanna Yde, Madelaine Petsch, and Sasha Pieterse – born in a foreign country, but all the relevant notable work being done in America... Is the issue here that we have no evidence that Lilimar Hernandez is a U.S. citizen?... Because, otherwise, I'd say we should call her an "American actress" or at least a "Venezuelan-born American actress" as per those other three articles... --IJBall (contribs • talk) 16:17, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@IJBall: Per MOS:BLPLEAD it should be "the country of which the person is a citizen, national or permanent resident", basically pick the one where all notable actives occurred. We mention residence in infobox to support American resident and no indication she did anything anywhere else based on credits. Proof of citizenship really not necessary in this case. We should not be mentioning birth location in the intro as that is irrelevant to why notable, just say "American actress" and change all the categories to match. American actress doesn't mean she is an American, just that that is where all her notable activities occurred. Need to explain all this on the talk page as it will likely be contentious if you do make the change. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:33, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
