Find A Grave

[edit]

@Czar: I was following the advice on the template page that says to be judicious in using Find A Grave as a source, and replacing it if a better source comes to light. (I know the template page is not official guidance, but it’s written to follow guidance, and is referenced at WP:FINDAGRAVE-EL.)

I’d like to at least add it as an external link, according to WP:FINDAGRAVE-EL #6, so the information is available to readers. NotARabbit (talk) 02:16, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That documentation was misleading. Especially since there is no tombstone photo at the link, this page is no different than any other random page on the Internet: its contents are user-contributed (not by even some topic expert) and not vetted for accuracy. I wouldn't link it at all. The point of relying on reliable sources is to lean on those sources' credibility. In this case, Find a Grave has none. czar 13:17, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I bow to your greater experience in this. Thanks. NotARabbit (talk) 20:03, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
