Orphaned references in List of AEW personnel

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of AEW personnel's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Sorry I removed it. This is because that source is not reliable. We need a secondary reliable source or a reliable primary source (something from Cody, The Bucks, etc.) Since the source is self-published and he is not well known we can't just take his word for it. Roster criteria

[edit]

Does this sound like good criteria for listing someone on the roster page?

  • Listed on AEW's official roster page
  • Tweet/video by AEW showing "X is ALL ELITE" or release stating that person has signed
  • Credible media report the person has signed with the company to appear for more than one show.

For office staff, it's likely going to be a credible media report that person is working for AEW.Froo (talk) 13:09, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yup sounds good to me. I am only iffy on "X is ALL ELITE", they could do it as a gag on BTE, or they could do it for someone that is just making one appearance. If third party reliable sources say that the person is signed that's fine though. StaticVapor message me! 17:18, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Cuellari - Associate Producer is official title, not coordinator

[edit]

In the most recent Road to Double or Nothing videos and the latest ITV special on AEW has Michael Cuellari listed as Associate Producer under his name...not Coordinator. He was listed as Coordinator in the first two episodes, but has since been renamed.— Preceding unsigned comment added by NicolasRSparrow (talkcontribs)

Awesome Kong / Riho ?

[edit]

The official aew site has added Awesome Kong to their website as of 6/5/2019. Also, is it necessary to mention Riho when she is just there for limited amount of dates? Why mention her and not the rest? The official aew site does not mention her. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NicolasRSparrow (talkcontribs) 14:26, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like we should include Kong then. As for Riho, we have confirmation that she is there for multiple dates in the future, the other women we do not have that same confirmation for. StaticVapor message me! 23:18, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Rafael Morfii

[edit]

I think it would be better to classify Rafael Morfii as Backstage Personnel as opposed to Executive. He heads live events, and should be with other Head Department figures, like Shawn Carr, etc. Since his title is of Director of Live Events. Executives should be for the Khans, "Chief" positions, and EVP/VP's. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NicolasRSparrow (talkcontribs) 15:25, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Records

[edit]

Should we include records or not? AEW's official roster page lists singles, tag team, trios, and overall records for each wrestler on their website. They feature it on Dark, Dynamite, and their PPVs during their entrances and throughout the broadcast. Also, Tony Khan and the EVPs have stated AEW's commitment to placing an emphasis on making wins and losses matter.

From Cody Rhodes:

  • “One thing we really strongly want to present is wins and losses mattering again in pro wrestling. That takes more than the W and the L column”[1]

From Tony Khan:

  • "I've talked a lot about how I want wins and losses to matter because at the end of the day, that's why you're having the match. There's going to be a winner and a loser and it matters. It should matter to your standing in the company and it should matter to your standing in your chase for the championship which at the end of the day is what everyone is trying to attain"[2]

If the consensus is to implement them, it should look like this:

Ring name Real name Records[3] Notes
Singles Tag team Trios Overall
Adam Page Stephen Woltz 2-2 0-1 0-0 2-3

Billy (Gunn)

[edit]

When Billy was last on AEW Dark, his name graphic just says "Billy", no "Gunn", and the announcers only refer to him as such. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6Y_aRyfo_I and head to 50 secs in, and you'll see what I mean. IanPCP (talk) 22:09, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, in the rosterpage, he is listed as Bill, not Billy nor Billy Gunn. Last week he wrestled as Billy Gunn, looks like WWE isn't the only promotion shorting the names --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 22:28, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I can only assume WWE had issue with him using "Billy Gunn", so AEW shortened it to "Billy", but WWE still had issue with it. IanPCP (talk) 09:30, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Billy is not allowed to use the name Billy Gunn in AEW that's a WWE trademark he just uses Billy (of the Gunn Club), please stop changing that. Jimmy Skitz's Answer Machine 15:53, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at the AEW roster page on their website, you'll see that he IS indeed listed as Billy Gunn. Apparently, somewhere along the way the copyright was lifted, and AEW is allowed to use his full name (looks like the same thing happened here as with Cody Rhodes). QT Marshall / Allie

[edit]

@Vjmlhds:On last night's Dark, Dustin came out with Brandi but QT brought out Allie. AEW's been running an angle with QT/Allie on the past couple of Darks, too IanPCP (talk) 18:18, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rebel

[edit]

Do you think we should include Rebel as other on-air personnel? She has been working on screen as Baker's assistant. Also, she is known as Rebel, not as Tanea Brooks. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 17:16, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Manager of..."

[edit]

Why do we list Penelope Ford as Kip Sabian's manager, but not list Kip as Penelope's manager? They're both wrestlers, and both accompany the other when they have singles matches. Surely neither should be listed as a "manager"? You could probably say the same about Allie/QT and Brandi/Dustin too, especially if Allie and Brandi are going to be wrestling more (as a team) going forward; as implied on this week's Dark episode. IanPCP (talk) 17:44, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's true. maybe it's the male dominated eviroment. When a woman is with a man, she is a manager (even when she is a wrestler), but if a man is with a woman, he isn't. Today I watched Dark and Dustin Rhodes accompanied Brandi. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 17:59, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed notes about Allie, Brandi and Penelope being "managers". If someone is a wrestler in their own right, then I don't think we should label them a "manager" as they're more like a team mate IanPCP (talk) 19:20, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Until I watched Dark, I didn't know Brandi works as a wrestler in AEW. But agree, they are wrestlers allied with male wrestlers, not like Anderson or Roberts. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 19:24, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What happened to the List of AEW Alumni page?

[edit]

What happened to the List of AEW Alumni page? Before it was just Kylie Rae that was the only AEW Alumni but since then Tenile Dashwood, Jimmy Havoc, Sadie Gibbs and Bea Priestley have all became AEW Alumni as well. - 2A02:C7F:C283:C100:78AA:C57:A17D:CBA9 (talk) 09:06, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Serpentico

[edit]

His Twitter bio refers to him as wrestling for AEW, his website is listed as the AEW website, he refers to it as his "dream job" in tweets, and the official AEW shop website has a Luther/Serpentico t-shirt for sale. It's all a good sign he is now signed with AEW. Thoughts? IanPCP (talk) 11:18, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No. AEW hans't announced him signing a contract. And AEW does it a lot with every new wrestler. Several of them work on Dark and aren't part of the roster, like Red Velvet, Channel or Will Hobbs. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 12:39, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thunder Rosa

[edit]

Please leave Thunder Rosa on the list, as per the reference I provided (from the Wrestling Observer, which is considered a reliable source), Rosa has a "per date" deal with AEW

Put simply, that means that while she is contracted to the NWA, she also has a side deal going with AEW.

There's all kinds of different contracts...full time, part time, side deals...and it is documented that Thunder Rosa does have a "per date"/side deal contract with AEW.

Vjmlhds (talk) 13:27, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. Surely a "per date" deal just means she comes in on a date-by-date basis, much in the same way the 'jobbers' on AEW Dark do? IanPCP (talk) 17:51, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

AAA Title

[edit]

I think we should delete the AAA Mega title. Usually, we list titles recognized and used by the promotion, like the NWA Women's or the RevPro titles in NJPW (they aren't defended, but at least the wrestlers appear with them). Omega hasn't been called AAA Mega champion in a while, he doesn't appear with the tirle and his last defense was on March 3, 2020 (6 months ago). There is no point to include the title anymore. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 16:22, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. IanPCP (talk) 17:52, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Vjmlhds:, do you have any opinion about the subject? --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 10:23, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I say keep it...it HAS been defended on AEW TV, and AEW does acknowledge the title. Just because it hasn't been front and center lately, doesn't mean it isn't still there. Vjmlhds (talk) 11:51, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Had been defended in the past, but the title isn't mentioned. Doesn't still there if Omega doesn't show with the title belt. I would agree if it's like NJPW with the RevPro, PWG or EVOLVE titles (not defended but appear on TV), but the AAA title doesn't appear. Same as the AAA Tag titles, were defended but now, AEW moved from them. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 12:24, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
HHH Pedrigree May I ask why the AAA Mega Title listing bothers you so much? This isn't the first time you brought it up, and it seems like every few weeks, you bring it up, then it dies down, then you bring it up again, lather, rinse, repeat. While never a "Written in stone" rule, we (meaning Wiki at large) always had a "gentlemen's agreement" where if a wrestler holds a title from an acknowledged partner promotion, and said title gets defended on their air, we list it, and never had any fuss about it (this all mainly started with ROH/NJPW, where wrestlers would frequently win titles from the opposite company and have them defended on each other's shows). I guess my question boils down to why now, and why this particular title? Vjmlhds (talk) 12:45, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't bother me, but several IPs deleted and you keep including it. It's the most common edit in the article. As you said, there is a agreement of including titles of other promotions but at least, the title should be used in TV regularly. I see no point to include a title which doesn't appear on TV, isn't mentioned and hasn't been defended in months. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 12:49, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Let's do this - AEW"s next PPV is Full Gear on November 7, if the Mega Title is still unseen/unheard by then, it can go bye-bye. At least then we'll have a firm date. Fair enough? Vjmlhds (talk) 14:02, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Okey. Deal. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 22:00, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well, what do we have here...Omega just busted out the AAA Mega Title tonight on Dynamite to taunt the Lucha Bros. So that should settle that. Vjmlhds (talk) 02:13, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

DDT Iron Heavymetalweight

[edit]

I watch Dark every week and I don't recall this ever being mentioned. Which episodes has it been acknowledged on? IanPCP (talk) 15:51, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if it was on an episode. Baker won it here, and the Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship article lists the event as "N/A", so it seems like it was just an Internet thing. That said, Jungle Boy did win it on AEW Dark on November 10th. — Czello 16:11, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
At least, AEW uses the DDT title on social media, as well as the Pakistan 24 / 7. Why are Penta andf Fenix as AAA Tag Champions? Did they appeared recently with the titles? --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 17:19, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Cagematch has no record of a DDT title change on 10th November https://www.cagematch.net/?id=1&nr=296242 Was it a backstage segment? As for the Lucha Bros, I do not recall them appearing with the AAA titles IanPCP (talk) 18:42, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As the source says (thanks google) "November 10 (local time) Jacksonville, Florida Daily's Place ● Joey Janella & Sunny Kiss vs Lucasaurus & Jungle Boy ○ 7 minutes 42 seconds * Jungle becomes the 1495th Ironman Heavymetalweight & Pakistan REW New Champion." So, DDT recognized a title change because Jungle pinned Janela. About lucha bros, then delete the titles. It's about titles used by the promotion, no just every title they win --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 18:54, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have any references for AEW acknowledging the DDT and/or REW titles? IanPCP (talk) 00:40, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Both Colten Gunn and Hook should be added to the list, as it should be clearly apparent at this point that both guys got set up with jobs in AEW to work with their respective fathers (Billy Gunn and Tazz).

Brodie Huber

[edit]

I know there's some fuss over the little guy, and how he's listed, but let's just look at it this way...

AEW just signed him to a long term developmental contract.

Let's just leave it at that.

BTW...I removed the "unassigned" section, as that is really just a WWE thing because they have different brands, and it's for wrestlers who haven't been placed on a specific brand...doesn't really apply to AEW (or Impact or ROH or MLW, etc) since they don't do brands.

Vjmlhds (talk) 21:55, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nope. Unassigned fits since he is under contract but he has no job. He is not a manager, not part of the broadcast, and of course, he is not a wrestler. Don't include as a wrestler just because you want. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 08:33, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Reworded Unassigned to Miscellaneous. Again, unassigned is more of a WWE thing because of the brands, listing Brodie Jr. as misc. personnel works better as he doesn't have a defined role, but IS under contract. Vjmlhds (talk) 20:01, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have no problem with the word. Just don't include him as one of the wrestlers, since he is not a wrestler. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 10:10, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I hear you. Like I said, my issue was with the word "unassigned", as AEW doesn't have brands to split the roster up into...you're either in AEW or you're not. Vjmlhds (talk) 17:38, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Would he be better fit under Other on-air personnel as he has appeared on-air a few times now, cutting promos and such. -Originalchampion (talk) 23:48, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well, at the time, his mother said he wouldn't appear more since he is a kid. I would have no problem to include as other on-air if he keeps appearing. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 11:18, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I support move to other on-air as he has made several more appearances. - Originalchampion (talk) 08:33, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Agree, he's clearly an "on-air personnel" at the moment. I expect it's very much temporary so we'll probably have to move him back to "miscellaneous" at some point in the future, but for now I support him being in "on-air personnel". — Czello 22:33, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Agree too. It was reported he would be a one-time thing, but looks like things have change. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 22:34, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Is he still with AEW? He was removed from the roster page on their website a month or two back and hasn't had a match since December. IanPCP (talk) 00:36, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think he was included shortly after. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 09:09, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Move Rebel to Other On-Air Personnel section + Backing up recent Ivelisse removal statement

[edit]

So apparently my recent edits to the AEW personnel page by moving Rebel from the Female Wrestlers section to the Other on-air personnel section may have resulted in one very upset/annoyed user getting upset by seeing reason and resulted in the section without seeing the reason behind it.

So I will clarify why Rebel should be moved to the On-Air Personnel section and not be in the Female Wrestler section for this current moment in time. The argument for her to being in there, and I quote: 'She wrestles enough' is a completely flumsy and inaccurate 'argument' (if it can even be called that) to make. The woman has only wrestled two matches in her entire AEW run, and her last match being on the August 27th 2020 episode of AEW Dynamite. Well over seven months ago. Two matches with the last being 7 motnhs ago, is not 'enough'. That is laughable to think she should be added to the Female Wrestlers page based on that logic alone when she is not an active female wrestler for over seven months, not even having a current profile or ranking system on the AEW Roster page to back it up like a lot of the other women (minus Ivelisse) have who are officially signed.

And the user's argument against my counter argument was simply, 'Please stop.' So they didn't have an argument for my claim as to why Rebel should not be in the Female Wrestlers section, simply that they lost the argument and they somehow have more power on different wrestling themed wikipedia pages to make incorrect decisions like this and lock down people from making edits to pages.

Due to indirectly mentioning them on here, I will likely get claimed with a warning or worse for calling them out for making these decisions, and they have every right do to so, even though I think that would unfair for them to do that since I truly don't understand how what I said said (apart from talking about them in the open like this) is wrong in any way. So I will most likely get a claim by whoever has power editing these pages (if it isn't that user that is), even when they see the reasoning to not have Rebel in the Female Wrestlers section and putting her in the Other On-Air Personnel section. As all of the reason to have her on that section is completely inconsequential.

I am aware my behavior in this matter may seem volotile, and for this I apologise to anyone else who sees this as such. However the fact this user is able to constantly make incorret edits to wrestling themes pages such as the AEW Personnel section without providing substancial evidence is an abuse of power, it's that simple. Especially when the 'evidence' they used in insufficiant and doesn't hold enough grounds for the edits they make.

Also a seperate point not about the one mentioned above, but someone recently brought up removing Ivelisse from the Female Wrestlers section and I will have to agree with them slightly. While I can see why a lot of people would want to keep her there since Ivelisse herself confirmed she is signed with AEW, AEW themselves have yet to even acknowledge her comments, and that is more telling on her status in the company than anything else. Literally anyone who competes on AEW Dark & AEW Dark Elevation can say they are signed with AEW and people can believe them, but that doesn't make it true. To take two more recent female signees, Leyla Hirsch and Red Velvet were rumoured to be signed with the company months ago, but it was until their recent 'is All Elite' social media posts where it was made officially by Tony Khan, Cody Rhodes or other official parties who are signed with the company providing them with that all confirming 'is All Elite' banner. By this logic, people can just as easily add in any of the talent that has wrestled for AEW Dark and AEW Dark Elevation and say they are signed (including the talent themselves) without an official confirmation by the company or any of the heads in charge and just as easily believe them.

While an 'is All Elite' isn't always 100% confirmation for all the talents in the company, it still is for a good 90% of them at the bare minumum. — Preceding unsigned comment added by StarStingster (talkcontribs) 14:54, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I asked for protection on the article because Anon IPs were doing silly things like adding John Cena to the list - had nothing to do specifically with Rebel. Regarding Rebel herself, she isn't a manager so much as she is a toady/flunky, who does wrestle and "takes bullets" for Dr. Baker. AEW has God knows how many female wrestlers (and wrestlers period) and only so much air time to cram everything in, so nobody is gonna wrestle every single week. And overall, we're past the days where women are strictly managers any more. This is a case where it isn't black and white, Rebel wears a lot of hats in AEW - behind the scenes she does makeup, on air she's Britt Baker's flunky and wrestles periodically...she basically is a "Swiss army knife". This really is a case of "thou protest too much". Not that big of a deal. Vjmlhds (talk) 15:17, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If the other anon IPs adding false information like John Cena being signed was the main reason behind it, then that is fair enough and I apologise for 'protesting too much'. However I genuinely don't believe this to be one of those cases in terms of Rebel's placement on the page. Much like another wrestling themes personnel page where you used the same 'Please stop' argument against me, I know people are more than just managers, I'm not saying women as a whole can only be one thing over the other. But more often than not you see certain characters taking a preference to certain roles at the time in which they are used as. Tully Blanchard has a one match on AEW programming, one less than Rebel. But with your argument for keeping her in that section, should Tully Blanchard also be added to the Male Wrestlers section. Granted he is in that section on the official AEW Roster page, so that's why he is there. What about Dasha Gonzalez? She is listed as an occassional wrestler in the Broadcast Team section. That is her main role as that is where she is listed on the AEW website as well. However since she has had one less match than Rebel and she is more than capable of doing more than one role, should she too also be listed as an active Female Wrestler? How can it be black and white for Tully and Dasha and not Rebel?
I do understand that I am overreacting in regards to this, as I have done with you under just a simple anon IP address on one/two other wrestling themed personnel pages. I just don't understand why she can't just be placed in the section where she is mainly used as for the time being until she either gets added to the female wrestlers section on the AEW roster page, or she gets put in the Other On-Air section as that is where her main roles currently is at this time. If this is not enough for a reason to have Rebel be added to the Other-On Air Talent section even though that is literally what he role has been since she got brought in as an act alongside Rebel while also have sparatic wrestling matches herself, then I will stop. Because I feel like I would be fighting a losing battle at this stage. I do thank you for still putting effort into keeping wrestling sections and wanting to keep them as organised as you can from people who want to troll on them and not want to make valid changes to things they may see as wrong placement and the like, so please don't take that away from this exchange. StarStingster (talk) 16:35, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
StarStingster Here's the thing - it's subjective. Rebel - being the proverbial "Swiss army knife" - does a little bit of this, and a little bit of that. Also keep in mind she is a wrestler by trade, having wrestled for TNA/Impact. And if you look at her Twitter page, she describes herself as an actor/wrestler/"Dr's sidekick" (obviously referencing Britt Baker), so it's not something that has a definitive cut and dry answer. When there's grey area, I give the benefit of the doubt and put them in wrestlers. Vjmlhds (talk) 18:33, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
My 2 cents. Rebel to other on air. She is mainly used as manager. According to Cagematch, she has two matches in AEW. [2] 2, Remove ocasional wrestler from Dasha. She has two matches in her whole career and no signs of more matches in the future. [3] Ivelisse. I have seeen many rumors about her, but now, looks like she still's with the promotion --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 10:48, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at what HHH Pedrigree said, they at the very least agree with me in terms on Rebel's status, also highlighting the facts that I have stated. That's at least 2 'opinions' over 1 'opinion'. But going back to your points Vjmlhds, if it was subjective as you say, then it shouldn't be added into the AEW Personnel page. Subjective literally means 'based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions.' NOT based on facts. I never said she was not a female wrestler, that IS a fact. She obvious is having wrestled for the likes of TNA/Impact Wrestling, OVW, Stardom and many other places in her past. But this is not talking about her past, this is talking about her current role in AEW. And at this current moment, she is used as other on-air personnel due to mainly being used as a additional act alongside Britt Baker. THAT is a fact. Rebel also has also only wrestled two matches for AEW, with her last being on the August 27th 2020 episode of AEW Dynamite. Of course people can put that down to 'Well she's injured right now since she WAS supposed to team with Britt against Thunder Rosa and Riho on the AEW Revolution Buy-In'. And if she did compete then, then yes, I'd say having her on the AEW Female Wrestlers page would make more sense. But she didn't since she is injured (unsure if this is a legit injury or simply part of an angle with her right now), so she still only has two matches in her AEW career. Not enough for her to be warranted in the Female Wrestlers section in my and at HHH Pedrigree's mindsets, especially with how long ago her last match was. In Rebel's case, we cannot give her the benefit of the doubt when she has only had two matches in her entire run in AEW at this current time. Being added to the Wrestlers section SHOULD be a cut and dry answer, not one based on subjective opinions. When she has more regular matches on AEW Dynamite/Dark/Dark Elevation, then yes, she should be added to the Female Wrestlers section. And especially so if she ends up having an official Ranking profile on the AEW Roster website page. Until then, her literal role is that of an actor/Dr's Sidekick as is mentioned in her social media, with her being an 'Occasional Wrestler'. It's literally a fact for her current role in All Elite Wrestling to be given that in the Other On-Air Personnel section, at the very least until she has an official profile listed in the official AEW Roster page with her win/lose/draw record as mentioned.
But at the very least if you disagree with that still, that is still one opinion VS two opinions. If more people side with you than me & HHH Pedigree and add more substancial reasons as to why she should remain in the Female Wrestlers section and not the Other On-Air Personnel section, then I can let it go. But if nothing else happens, or if even more people agree with us about this discussion, then she should be added to the Other On-Air Talent until she either has more reaccuring matches under her record, or she gets an official ranking profile added to the AEW Roster page.StarStingster (talk) 13:36, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever consensus says is fine with me, no matter which way it goes. Like I said, my philosophy is to give the benefit of the doubt if there's shades of gray, but if others think different (especially if they have the numbers), then I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it either. Vjmlhds (talk) 13:56, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We need everyone whos on per apperance or nobody. U fair to have ivelisse and not the others. Everyone else is officially signed (even if theyve not been on tv in forever) we can’t use rumours of signings or take talent’s word, especially known trouble makers and difficult to work with like ivelisse Cammyt2001 (talk) 20:57, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Seems Ivelisse is done with AEW:

Should we update her article or wait for the official confirmation by AEW? Wario-Man talk 02:14, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Considering AEW themselves never confirmed Ivelisse was under contract with them to begin with (That was all Ivelisse herself), it's best to keep her as removed from the roster.StarStingster (talk) 05:46, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Keep her off, she's done. And to clear up the previous controversy Ivelisse was under a per appearance deal, and not a full time contract, so essentially she had a part time deal with AEW. Not all contracts - just like not all jobs - are created equal...some are full time (like when "So-and-so is ALL ELITE!"), and some are part time (like Ivelisse). So when she said she signed with AEW, she wasn't technically wrong, as it was a part time deal. But it's all moot now any way, as she's gone, so that should be that. Notable Unsigned Wrestlers

[edit]

Hi, I was wondering if we can have a section for freelancers and wrestlers special circumstances that are raked for titles or appear on multiple episodes of Dynamite? (e.g. Thunder Rosa, Danny Limelight, the Varsity Blondes)(BackLash (talk) 18:14, 8 June 2021 (UTC))[reply]

I don't see it. The article includes people under contract. If they aren't under contract, no reason to include them. If we make exception, everyone is gonna try to include several wrestlers under several "special" reasons. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 23:00, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect Sandra Gray redirects here but she isn't on the page at all?

[edit]

I know nothing about wrestling, but I gather Sandra Gray is the costume director/maker for the show. I don't know enough to know whether or not this is worth putting into the article, or even under what category, but it is very confusing having a redirect where the name being searched isn't even to be found on the target page. Rather than immediately flag the Sandra Gray redirect for deletion discussion, I wanted to mention it here so that someone has the opportunity to incorporate it into the page if relevant, and if she isn't valid to mention here, then the redirect itself seems rather pointless. Thank you so much for your attention. Mabalu (talk) 17:18, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Listing of wrestlers who self identify as non-binary

[edit]

Prior to 4 October 2022, this page listed the individual Abadon (wrestler) under "female wrestlers" and the individual Sonny Kiss under "male wrestlers" (link). Per their individual biography pages, Abadon self-identifies as non-binary and uses "they/them" pronouns, while Sonny Kiss identifies as genderfluid and uses both "he/his" and "she/her" pronouns. My reading of MOS:GENDERID is that referring to Kiss as a male and to Abadon as a female on this page is contrary to the policy. Accordingly, I changed the page to list Abadon and Sonny Kiss under "non-binary wrestlers" (link). However, my edit was reverted. I would be grateful for views from the community on the correct course of action. McPhail (talk) 21:15, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not trying to give you a hard time, but the AEW website roster clearly has Abadon listed as a female wrestler and Kiss as a male wrestler. Unlike WWE or Impact, AEW separates the male and female wrestlers on their website roster, listing them in their own sections. How Abadon and Sonny identify in their personal lives is irrelevant to this list, as AEW clearly has them listed in specific sections, and since AEW doesn't do intergender wrestling, it's pretty cut and dry - Abadon is listed in the women's section and wrestles women, while Kiss is listed in the men's section and wrestles men. Upending the article would just open Pandora's box and lead to God knows what. Vjmlhds (talk) 23:55, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The page does not purport to be a roster - it is a list of personnel in which the personnel who are wrestlers have been organised by gender. Kiss identifies as "genderfluid and transfeminine". Wikipedia:Gender identity clearly states "Give precedence to self-designation as reported in the most up-to-date reliable sources, even when it doesn't match what's most common in reliable sources." Kiss' self-designation takes precedence over whatever a page on the AEW website states. Listing Kiss as a "male wrestler" when Kiss does not identify as male (and vice versa for Abadon) would appear to me to be clearly contrary to WP:GENDERID. McPhail (talk) 07:07, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: A non-binary heading is not the way to go because "non-binary wrestling" is not a thing. As a point of comparison, Quinn (soccer) is categorized under "women's" categories at the bottom of the page despite being non-binary and being referred to with singular they pronouns because they play for the women's team. As Vjmlhds notes, this sort of split applies here too. AEW's website linked above calls it "men's roster" and "women's roster", so maybe those could be used as headers, relying on AEW as a source, if editors are unhappy with the current headers. Crossroads -talk- 05:03, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
To lean on your example, would it be appropriate for Quinn (soccer) to appear on a "list of female soccer players"? I would suggest not. McPhail (talk) 07:07, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Just a mention. When I suggested the header change, I also suggested a note.
  • Comment Maybe, we should change the header from male wrestlers to male division? Kiss is listed under the Men's Roster and Abadon under the Women's roster. We can include a note, like "Despite being a non-binary, Abadon is listed under the women division". Usually we separate rosters by divisions (WWE men Women, NJPW Heavyweight and JR Heavyweight, CMLL Men, Women and Minis). --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 08:06, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I like this idea, and seems to be a fair compromise. My only thoughts are that we should label them "Men's division" and "women's division" (rather than male/female) to make it consistent with AEW's roster page, and to make it sound less clinical. — Czello 08:16, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Cool with me - in fact I already implemented it. Vjmlhds (talk) 13:34, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If someone wanted to add the note, fine and dandy, my only thing was just not to take it upon themselves, and wait to let others throw in their 2¢ to avoid problems down the road. since it's apparent that other editors wish to include it, that's good enough for me. Vjmlhds (talk) 17:36, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sonjay Dutt as wrestler

[edit]

VJ included Sonjay as a wrestler, since JJ is now Jay Lethal's manager. He is not a wrestler. Last year Dutt was signed as producer. His main work is producer, not wrestler. Since 2017, he had one match. Including him as wrestler "just in case he return" it's WP:CRYSTALBALL. There is no signs of him becoming a full time wrestler or resuming his carrer. The one match he had it's an special ocasion, just like many others had in pro wrestling (Tully Blanchard, Jim Ross, Eric Bischoff). HHH Pedrigree (talk) 08:25, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Meh...not worth the fuss. Vjmlhds (talk) 13:46, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Kiera and Regal

[edit]

Do we have any sources that both Kiera Hogan and William Regal have left AEW/stopped being on air characters? IanPCP (talk) 11:28, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No. It's unsourced. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 16:09, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hogan removed AEW from her Twitter bio, and Regal - since he isn't a manager anymore - really no longer has an on air role at the moment (with Moxley running him off to explain his exit). Like anything else, it's not to say down the road Regal comes back on-air or Hogan returns to AEW, but for now, it is what it is. Vjmlhds (talk) 18:27, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There is no rule that if you are not a manager, you are not on air personnel. Regal doesn't need to be manager to keep appearing on regular TV programming. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 18:34, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be more inclined to re-add him if he had a clear defined role, and not just "dude who makes random appearances" now and then. Vjmlhds (talk) 18:42, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
But again, there is no source for Regal being no longer an on-air talent. Just a promo "run" and he is off? Too soon, we don't know if he will be back in afew weeks. And I remember, the idea of the roster is not to change positions every week depending on storylines. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 23:53, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Things change, people come and go, roles get adjusted, and stuff happens. Can't be married to what was when it isn't now what is. Vjmlhds (talk) 03:23, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

We don't even know if Regal or Kiera are done. For now the article should remain unaltered unless it becomes clearer that they actually are finished with AEW. — Czello 11:19, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Never said Regal was done in AEW (as he is a backstage coach), just that he's not gonna be an on-air personality with the end of the Blackpool Combat Club. And as I said, Hogan removed AEW from her Twitter bio, which is as big of a tell as anything. Vjmlhds (talk) Vjmlhds 14:41, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There's no confirmation Regal is done in an on-screen capacity, either. Let's not confuse kayfabe with reality. Hogan changing her bio isn't strong enough evidence, either. If she's actually done with AEW then it'll get reported soon enough. — Czello 14:49, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not that big of a deal, and this particular hill isn't worth dying on...just explaining why I did what I did (there is a method to my madness - I don't do things just for the heck of it). Vjmlhds (talk) 18:33, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Bronson / Boulder / Cole Karter

[edit]

Is there a source that indicates these three are CURRENTLY signed with AEW? Bronson and Boulder have been regularly working ROH, so it's likely they are signed; but Cole Karter doesn't seem to have appeared for AEW or ROH in months. IanPCP (talk) 15:24, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Karter was a "per appearance" guy who was mostly Dark/Elevation fodder...shows which no longer exist. If we were to disappear, it wouldn't cause too big of a stink. Vjmlhds (talk) 18:02, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Analogical to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of former Ring of Honor personnel and similar, lists of former personnel are bad idea. They require pointless updates, the split stuff for no good reason, and are often non-encyclopedic (failing NLIST, as such lists do not exist in reliable sources). Readers want to see one list, not 2+ sublists. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:03, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sting

[edit]

As far as I can see, Sting is still employed to AEW.

Should we still have him on the list but list him as "inactive; retired"?

Sting did say he could take a future backstage position or he could become an ambassador, but I still think he should be on the list since he is a contracted individual to AEW despite being retired. Lemonademan22 (talk) 20:27, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, I've re-added him with this note. Unfortunately there's no "natural" place for retired AEW personnel to go (the WWE personnel page has an ambassadors section, but people on Legends contracts aren't listed – but AEW doesn't have Legends contracts or an equivalent we know of. In short, until we hear otherwise he should remain where he is. — Czello (music) 21:15, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Im' surprised, I didn't notice Sting being removed. I haven't seen any new about him leaving AEW, just retiring. I would include it as backstage or other on air (if he stills a on screen character). --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 21:43, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They still have Brodie Lee listed on the roster, and he died 3 years ago. Lee has been kept on the roster as basically an homage, and Sting looks like it's the same thing. Vjmlhds (talk) 22:24, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, if you look at the ROH website roster (which is relevant here since it's under the same roof) they still have Jay Briscoe listed, even though he died about a year ago. So AEW/ROH has a history of keeping roster spots listed as homages, and it appears Sting is in that class. Vjmlhds (talk) 22:29, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is a major difference between Lee, Briscoe and Sting. Many wrestlers keep working with the promption after retirement, like Jason Jordan or Tyson Kidd with wwe, Gail Kim with TNA... Right now, we dont know if Sting left the promotion, stating its an homage its WP:OR --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 23:05, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The only mention I know about the subject is a Q and A. some reader asked PWInsider Sting's position after the match. [4] the answer, he didnt know but believes he stills with AEW.--HHH Pedrigree (talk) 23:12, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here's an interview Sting did with ESPN right before Revolution. Quoting, he said "he might remain part of AEW in other capacities in the future, but Revolution will mark his final match." So for sure he is no longer an active wrestler, and he said he might come back to AEW down the line in another role. But as of now, he's done. Vjmlhds (talk) 23:23, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just to repeat what I said on my talk page for the benefit of this thread: Ultimately the page isn't a list of active wrestlers – we include anyone notable who's under the payroll, including non-wrestlers. I think until we get confirmation he's no longer with AEW he should remain there. — Czello (music) 08:41, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As Czello pointed, the personnel article includes people under contract with AEW. Both PWInsider and ESPN aren't clear about his status. but there is no source pointing Sting left AEW or his contract ended. Many retired wrestlers keep working with the promotion as producers, trainers or just ambassadors. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 09:13, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, now that I see what the discussion is, I'll let things lie. I wasn't aware that there was further discussion on this until just now. So Sting will stay until something definite comes out. I thought it was clear before, but I'm not into fighting city hall these days, so Sting shall stay until proven otherwise. Vjmlhds (talk) 14:04, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
