Vandalism

[edit]

I cut this bit of vandalism out of the article. And to answer the question, yes, I do believe you are an idiot. Marshall Stax (talk) 18:51, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"the yamaha TTR125 is the best out of any motorbike in the world hahaha by emily qwerty from Queensland hahaha jokes i am not telling u my real name do u think i am an idoit right back emme"

Star section

[edit]

The date of announcement was incorrectly stated as 2005. Royal Star motorcycles were available in the 1995 model year. As such Yamaha must have announced Star in 1994 or earlier. The Royal Star Venture line began with the 1999 model. It should also be pointed out that the tuning fork logo and the Yamaha logo can be found on Star motorcycles. The Royal Star Venture has a Yamaha trunk badge, Yamaha imprints on the timing hole cover and water pump cover, and the Yamaha tuning fork logo on the headset. Types of Yamahas

[edit]

I propose this article be reorganized in the following way:

  • Street Bikes
    • 2-stroke road bikes
    • 4-stroke road bikes
    • Scooters etc.
  • Road Racers
  • Dual Sport Bikes
    • 2-strokes
    • 4-strokes
  • Off Road Bikes
    • Enduro/Trail
    • Observed Trials
    • Motocross
    • Supermoto
  • Alternative
    • Electric
    • Concept

If there are no strenuous objections I will attempt it. Cdw ♥'s(talk) 06:24, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If possible, a sortable table like a Wikitable sortable would be more useful. You could still use the above scheme as the default sorting, but if a user wanted to see all bikes in chronological order, or by engine size or what ever, a sortable table makes that easy for them. But hard for the editor who first builds it... --Dennis Bratland (talk) 15:27, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The trouble with a sortable table is that it is vertical thus preventing the use of column breaks and there isn't enough data already in the list to warrant a table. My concern is with creating a more compact article. A sortable table will work when someone takes the time to enter details like year, displacement, AKA, country/market, etc. for each model. Do you care to volunteer? --Cdw ♥'s(talk) 03:00, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

After looking into it the example given by Types of motorcycles would be better and might look like this:

  • Street Bikes
    • Cruiser & Touring
    • Sport Bike & Sport Touring
    • General Purpose
    • Scooters/Mopeds
  • Off Road Bikes
    • Dual Sport
    • Enduro/Trail
    • Motocross
    • Supermoto
    • Observed Trials
  • Road Racers
  • Alternative
    • Electric
    • Concept

Yamaha Tesseract

[edit]

Shouldn't the Yamaha Tesseract be in the "Concept/prototype motorcycles" section? I know it's technically a quad bike, but it's more of a motorcycle than an all-terrain vehicle. --205.204.248.69 (talk) 17:03, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yamaha referred to the Tesseract as "The 4-Wheeled Motorcycle" in its promotional materials. --Matthew Raymond (talk) 19:01, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

NIKEN

[edit]

What about the Yamaha NIKEN? https://www.yamaha-motor.eu/uk/products/motorcycles/niken/niken.aspx --Manorainjan 21:47, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
