Wind farms

[edit]

I've worked up a table of the currently operating (and a couple of nearly-finished) windfarms, on my sandbox. Its based on the BWEA list and some other sources to cross-check. Anyone care to comment or should I just stick it in the article? Regards, Jonathan Oldenbuck (talk) 12:02, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good to me. Other possible sources are:
New sites will probably be increasingly offshore e.g. Robin Rigg. Ben MacDuiTalk/Walk 18:39, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Ben. The Gazetteer is pretty out of date these days, and I wasn't proposing to add the consented, but unbuilt, windfarms. I think a separate section on the two offshore farms would suffice? Jonathan Oldenbuck (talk) 08:34, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Operator

[edit]

What is the definition of Operator. The organisation(s) who looked after it when it was generating; or the owner of the plant even after it stopped generating.

For example - Inverkip was still nominally and operational power station when it passed to Scottish Power. Hunterston A ceased generation the day before SSEB ceased to exist and pass it on to Scottish Nuclear.

..and then there is whether all the operators are listed for the like of Cockenzie, Galloway Hydros, Cruachan, Hunterston B.

--Stewart (talk) 16:06, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would have thought it should be the former - the company which operated the establishment when it was a functioning power station. I've been through and tabulated all these lists, using what info I could find on WP and obvious web sites, so there may be inaccuracies as you point out - please go ahead and correct them! I wasn't sure whether it would be helpful to list previous operators of existing facilities - maybe we should just list the current operating organisation, or just the last one if it's a closed facility?
Hydro is not really an area I have any knowlege of (I'm more into wind farms :)), and the list of hydro stations "needs tidying", as the comment says. I'd be grateful if someone who is familiar with the various schemes could have a go at this section. Regards, Jonathan Oldenbuck (talk) 16:25, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure if we are meant to add future plants to this list. Maybe future capacity ought to have a new, separate section? Anyway, 2011 should see Siadar Wave Energy Project. Cheers. --Mais oui! (talk) 09:50, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Same goes for Orkney Wave Power Station. Regards. Rehman(+) 09:02, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pumped hydro capacity

[edit]

Should the table showing capacity for pumped hydro schemes be in MW (instantaneous power) or MWh (stored energy)? Needs clarification either way. Thanks, p.r.newman (talk) 17:20, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

How up-to-date is the information?

[edit]

New power stations open, and old stations close down. Therefore, a page such as this one is likely to go out of date within a year or two. Although the page does say that it was last modified on 7 June 2014, it does not say how extensive this modification was. The reader therefore has no idea of how up to date the offered information is. Would it be possible to explicitly state, at the bottom of the page, the latest date on which the information is believed to be valid? First Pumped water storage power plant

[edit]

The German wikipedia page lists different locations and dates for the first such power stations. 194.207.180.128 (talk) 17:11, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
