Add source[edit]

@PeeJay: Hi! I see the source of information in subsection 2022–23 under Club career has not been added by anyone. Hope you will do this. Thanks!!! Hongkytran

Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 15 June 2024[edit]

I request that the editors add the number of each type of trophy inside brackets under the Honours section.

For example, changing:

La Liga: 2004–05, 2005–06, 2008–09, 2009–10, 2010–11, 2012–13, 2014–15, 2015–16, 2017–18, 2018–19

to

La Liga (10): 2004–05, 2005–06, 2008–09, 2009–10, 2010–11, 2012–13, 2014–15, 2015–16, 2017–18, 2018–19

Could you do this for every type of trophy so it is easier to count the total? 81.104.80.12 (talk) 16:04, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Messi's honours[edit]

I am not a CR7 fan or a person showing bias, but hasn't Messi only won 3 UCLS? The 2005/06 UEFA Champions League campaign does not count since he was not on the Champions League squad 2406:3003:2002:2D79:F85A:96C:9190:1DD7 (talk) 07:46, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes but this was recently discussed and people came to the consensus that he should be listed with 4 CLs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Lionel_Messi/Archive_27#New_Note_on_CL_honours_section --FMSky (talk) 18:15, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It wouldn't be too difficult to note that he did not play in the 2005-06 final, surely? Black Kite (talk) 18:34, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Was also discussed in above discussion and apparently it should not be mentioned --FMSky (talk) 18:35, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hmph. It would actually be more accurate to mention it (even if only in the stats section at the bottom of the page), regardless of what the fanboys think. This is not a Messi fanpage. Black Kite (talk) 18:40, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agree --FMSky (talk) 18:40, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are a lot of players who didn't play in the final. For example, Pele played two matches at the 1962 World Cup, he was injured in the match against Czechoslovakia and had to sit out the rest of the tournament.
Why do we mention it here and ignore other players? Annh07 (talk) 18:55, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That wasnt in the CL though. UEFA apparently has these rules about CL titles. A note should actually be added to every player that fits this criteria --FMSky (talk) 18:56, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If those are UEFA rules can you provide the source? The source you provided in the last discussion is just a statistic.
Can you list all the players that fit this criteria? Can you guarantee that there will be no errors? The number of players is huge because Champions League has gone through seven decades.
In addition, there is no guarantee that there will be no controversy when adding notes to players' articles. Most articles are not protected, anyone can remove notes at any time. Annh07 (talk) 19:39, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It wouldn't be difficult to do, but would come across as amazingly petty and mean spirited. You get players who have league title medals, who barely start a game all season. That's because it's a team/squad sport. And where does it end - suddenly Roy Keane and Paul Scholes have an Asterix against their name because they never played in the final? And it would also have to be applied to all sports. People do didn't appear in the Superbowl, and the NBA finals and son on 147.161.143.72 (talk) 14:09, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
