Separate?

[edit]

Shouldnt there be separate pages for the film and book? Ed Wood's Wig (talk) 02:31, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would say the book deserves its own page, but as far as I can tell no one has made one. This article seems focused on the movie only, rather than trying to cover both. --Steve Schonberger (talk) 11:35, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Nick and Norah (1).jpg

[edit]

Image:Nick and Norah (1).jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Plot description

[edit]

Needs to be re-done. It's rambling, and makes little sense.69.127.236.16 (talk) 20:48, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Little does she know that Nick is Tris's ex-boyfriend. It turns out she developed a crush on Nick even before seeing him, due to his mix CDs he had made for Tris after she broke up with him."

Who's stopping you? Please, be bold and fix any such problems, what appears to be acceptable to some can be unacceptable to others! DaRkAgE7[Talk] 04:31, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Someone wants to say straightedge and queercore -- neither of these are accurate in the context of the film. In fact Nick is asked if he's straightedge and he says no. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.231.204.74 (talk) 10:04, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Commentary

[edit]

I made two observations about the film that might deserve inclusion in some sort of commentary section.

  • Tris starts the film portrayed very beautifully, and Norah is portrayed as plain (by movie standards). As the film progresses, Norah becomes more beautiful while Tris becomes less attractive, apparently following Nick's attitudes toward the two.
  • The gum struck me as a metaphor for sexually transmitted diseases.

If I were to add those here, they'd be original research. I can't reasonably use my own review [[1]] of the film as a reference. If anyone can find another source for those observations (or others), it might improve the article. -- Steve Schonberger (talk) 11:35, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Factual inaccuracies

[edit]

I was looking over the factual inaccuracies section and, I don't know, it just seemed a bit nitpicky and pointless to me. I don't see the point of mentioning that a subway bench does not exist. Does anyone have a particular reason for including it? Hydrokinetic (talk) 23:50, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There should be a separate article for the novel

[edit]

This was a novel long before it was a film - and a notable novel. There should be a separate article created for the novel and this movie article should be moved to Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (film). 23skidoo (talk) 04:01, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The novel is extremely different than the book. --DrStrangelove95 —Preceding unsigned comment added by DrStrangelove95 (talkcontribs) 22:56, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Soundtrack

[edit]

The soundtrack section mentions that the song Ottoman by Vampire Weekend is not on the soundtrack, but it is listed as track #5. Was there a different Vampire Weekend song in the movie that is not on the soundtrack, or should that be removed? --Chibbie (talk) 01:45, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Other Musical References

[edit]

When were The Buzzcocks referenced? --Spiff666 (talk) 15:01, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nick and Nora Charles

[edit]

Has anyone heard of any relation to these folks? Nick and Nora Charles 75.22.205.212 (talk) 18:51, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, the author was just lazy and decided to steal the names so that any reference to the couple seems like a reference to her book. I fear the day that kids think Xander Harris' joke about Nick and Nora Fury is seen as a reference to this movie.99.240.146.252 (talk) 19:51, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review

[edit]

Reviewer: GaryColemanFan (talk) 18:16, 21 December 2009 (UTC) This article is very well written, developed, and sourced. I had only a few minor concerns as I read through it:[reply]

Lead

  • "Written by Lorene Scafaria, based on the novel of the same name" -> "and based on the novel..."
  • "in October-December 2007" -> "from October to December 2007"
  • "September 23, 2008" - comma after 2008

Plot

  • "Manhattan's Lower East Side" - comma after Side
  • "Tal starts a fight with Nick" - comma after Nick
  • "share a kiss" - a little repetitive after they "share a smile" in the previous sentence. Would just "they kiss on the escalator" work?

Cast

  • "Dennings was the second actor to be cast after Cera" - was she the second cast overall, or the second person cast after Cera (ie. the third overall)?
  • The link at the end of Rafi Gavron's description has changed. Updating it with the new url (to which it currently redirects) would be good.

Writing

  • "Rachel Cohn and David Levithan" - comma after Levithan

Filming

  • "and Williamsburg, Brooklyn" - would probably read better as "as well as Williamsburg, Brooklyn"

Theatrical release

  • "US$11,311,751 from 2,421" - 2,421 what?

Soundtrack

  • "he would email songs" - would read better (and maintain verb tense) as "he emailed songs"

Aside from that, the references, fair use rationale, stability, neutrality, and all the rest is just fine. I'll place the article on hold for a week or so. It's just a few minor fixes, but let me know if you need more time because of Christmas. Best wishes, GaryColemanFan (talk) 18:16, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the speedy review! I think I've addressed all of your concerns. —97198 (talk) 00:25, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm satisfied that this meets the GA criteria, so I am promoting the article. Thanks for the quick response. You've done an amazing job with this article. GaryColemanFan (talk) 00:37, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again, —97198 (talk) 02:52, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nick and Norah's Infinite PlaylistNick & Norah's Infinite Playlist – It's largely referred to with the & symbol (including the lede), and the poster and DVD cover clearly shows that the film is written with an & symbol. Corvoe (speak to me) 17:06, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
