(draft)
[edit]I believe the page shown as "User:Sbjohnson/Shelley Tanaka" should be moved to "Shelley Tanaka". KaryAnca (talk) 19:46, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- That is common when a registered editor works on a new page in hirs user space. The creator did move it here one month later, after more work.
- There are some things to be done when a new "biography" page is moved to article space, which were not done here. (So I added template {{WPBIO}} above and did part of it.) I don't know whether any such thing should be done with a draft in user space. --P64 (talk) 23:53, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
Translator
[edit]I refashioned previous section 4 as section 3.9 comprising two chron lists under bold headings French and German. During rearrangement I added info to some listings; added only one listing --the latest, Hound and Hare (2011), source [ref name=goethe].
John Kilaka - I identified the source language for True Friends as German by reading WorldCat records for him.[1] Note that his three most widely held works in WorldCat libraries are English-language translations from German (original titles show), published by Groundwood Books (records state). Tanaka is likely to be the translator of all three. The WorldCat records don't identify any of the translators, which is unusual in my experience.
- Qualification. One record shows the English is transl from German OCLC 61300807. Unfortunately one shows the German is transl from English and credits a someone with a German name OCLC 76563837; another shows the Danish is transl from "English original"(?) OCLC 144589419. Two others show the French is transl from German OCLC 182622945; the Swedish is transl from German OCLC 485650686. One for Kinyarwanda (language or Rwanda) is silent about other languages OCLC 61269716.
- Why list German here? [1] The unspecific credit to Tanaka predates me. Translation from German is her expertise and we say she is a Groundwood editor. [2] WorldCat seems to give first publication dates 2004 for German and Kinyarwanda, 2005 French and Swedish, 2006 Danish and English. [3] WorldCat reports more titles for Kilaka in German than in another language.
Tenzing Norbu Lama - may be the illustrator, not writer, so that she did not translate his contribution. See Himalaya at French Wiki (which i can't read) fr:Évelyne Brisou-Pellen#Œuvres.
Two more of her writers at German de.wiki: de:Rotraut Susanne Berner; de:Heinz Janisch.

- John Kilaka says that his first book was published in Switzerland in German language (2000) three years after he started to write and illustrate stories (1997). [2] --P64 (talk) 23:43, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
