Sola versus Sora (yet again)
[edit]- I corrected a typo in the spelling of her name. Her name in japanese is 青い空, which when written in romanized characters, romaji, it is spelled Aoi Sora. There are no "L's" in the Japanese language.
No:
- You changed multiple instances of "Sola" to "Sora", and although you may argue that some were mistaken, it's highly unlikely that (as "typo" is normally understood) most of these were typos. Instead, they were written deliberately. (See the chitchat above, passim.)
- No, her name in Japanese script is not 青い空; it is 蒼そら. (Of course this is designed to suggest a meaning conventionally written as 青い空, but that's a different matter.)
- When you say that There are no "L's" in the Japanese language, I think that you mean that IPA [l] doesn't occur in Japanese. Well, it's a rare allophone. IPA [r] is a rare allophone too (indeed, a rarer one). IPA aside, a claim that's some close variant of "Japanese has the 'r' sound but not the 'l' sound" is grossly simplistic and/or underinformed. (Perhaps what you wanted to say is that "r" is used in the Hepburn romanization system for a Japanese phoneme, whereas "l" is not.)
She, or the company that manages her, chooses "Sola" as the romanized form of her name. This doesn't break any of the conventions of English, and therefore it's what we use. (On conventions: If her publicity had her name systematically written "sOrA", for example, we'd write "Sora".)
More disturbingly, you made numerous changes exemplified by that from "What Does Former Porn Star Sola Aoi Think Of This Sino-Japanese Spat?" to "What Does Former Porn Star Sora Aoi Think Of This Sino-Japanese Spat?" (referring to this web page, emphases added). No: Most or all of these wrote "Sola", and this shouldn't be falsified. (If a source referred to her as "Sora", we'd quote this as "Sora".) -- Hoary (talk) 23:09, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
Sola Aoi Age
[edit]What was Sola Aoi's age when she started AV work? The article says 'eighteen' but the math gives 21. Debut July 2002 and date of birth April 26, 1981.
Birthday conflict?
[edit]We currently say April 26, 1981, but some other sources say November 11, 1983, e.g. IMDb (though unreliable) and her own official site, following this Japanese language YouTube video, this matter was probably caused by her driver license which was wrongly entered per another requester. Do we have ideas on whether fix it or not? Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 02:42, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
