- And it's nice to be here. But I'm afraid I've brought the stalker with me too, and s/he is continually vandalising this article. RolandR 12:04, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

On his work
[edit]I tried to do an edit highlighting one of his more famous works, but this was "undone" and said to be undue-vio. See http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Tawfiq_Ziad&diff=480833766&oldid=480833178 - can someone tell me why? Really, I don't understand what you mean! Undue because of what? 90.132.197.182 (talk) 20:12, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
- You have to provide a reliable source backing the info. Even if it's common knowledge to some, that's just how it works. Let me know if you need help anywhere. --Al Ameer son (talk) 22:48, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, IP. I'm the rascal who reverted this good-faith edit; I hope you're not discouraged by the undo. I'll try to explain my reasoning in terms of Wikipedia's editing guidelines and policies. Al Ameer son has covered the sourcing issue; so here's what I meant by "undue".
- An article lead section (introduction) should accurately summarise the article's cited content but not usually much more than that. There's no outright rule against introducing material in the introduction that's not covered later in more detail, but in this instance the introduction's very short. A well-informed but uncited opinion on the importance and significance of particular works and performances is editorialising or original research. If a reliable secondary source attests the significance of a particular work in Tawfiq Ziad's career and its performance by a particular artist, that work and its performer can be highlighted in the article's main text. And I guess it might also be summarised in the lead section but only if reliable sources emphasise the exceptional significance and weight of this particular work, performance and performer in Tawfiq Ziadare's own career and public reputation. I hope I've made my reasoning clear. If I can help, do let me know. Best, Haploidavey (talk) 00:28, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
