Per a discussion on the talk page for List of best-selling music artists, is it possible to have the above edit notice implemented for List of best-selling music artists, thank you. Mattg82 (talk) 03:09, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Two comments:
  1. This seems excessively long for an edit notice. You might want to consider shortening it somewhat.
  2. You should use the {{editnotice}} template to generate the correct format.

I have now made it shorter and used the {{editnotice}} template. Mattg82 (talk) 14:00, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
plus Added. I've set an expiry date a year from now but it can be renewed if necessary. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:56, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is it possible to set a new expiration date? It helps to prevent some of disruption the list constantly experiences.--Harout72 (talk) 19:47, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please renew the time limit for the template as it has now expired. It is a list that attracts a lot of attention, we need this visible message to warn or remind editors of the inclusion criteria. Mattg82 (talk) 02:31, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done I see no need for an expiry  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:40, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please get rid of the quaint language ("whilst") and fix the typo. It should read "While we encourage editors to be bold, it is highly recommended to discuss changes on the talk page" (this >> the). Huw Powell (talk) 06:44, 23 April 2014 (UTC) Huw Powell (talk) 06:44, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Per this recent discussion, this moves the before-you-edit-this FAQ out of the article lede and into the edit notice. Please replace the current edit notice with the following {{editnotice}} template:

Thanks. --McGeddon (talk) 09:16, 10 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Done - despite it being the 10th ;-) removed erratic nowiki from the end of the text. Cabayi (talk) 10:29, 10 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to request that Big Bang be added to the admittedly already long list of artists that have not been added to the list. The band have sold over 100 million downloads in South Korea, which to my knowledge does not award any certifications.

I do not know what requirements need to be met to add an artist to that list, but I submit that Big Bang are (at least currently) more well-known across the world and especially in Southeast Asia and in the Americas, where I doubt older singers such as Charles Aznavour and Tom Jones are more well-known. Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit template-protected}} template. Consider inviting users from Talk:List of best-selling music artists and WT:MUSIC to this page to discuss this addition. Izno (talk) 15:23, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The required percentage for certified sales has been raised from 20% to 30%. Could an administrator please make the change so we can have the same reflecting on the page notice when the Edit button is clicked on the main page. Thanks.--Harout72 (talk) 20:52, 26 August 2021 (UTC) Harout72 (talk) 20:52, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

 Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit template-protected}} template. firefly ( t · c ) 07:42, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The change I'm requesting has already been made at the List of best-selling music artists, the Page notice, however, still says 20%. It also needs to be changed to 30%. The change I'm referring to is within the first paragraph of the Page notice where it says All artists included on this list, which have begun charting on official albums/singles charts have their available claimed figure(s) supported by at least 20% in certified units. The 20% simply needs to be changed to 30% as it already says on the main page of the list.--Harout72 (talk) 08:42, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The methodology used in the List of best-selling music artists has been changed, removing the requirements based on percentages. For that reason, it is now necessary to change the content of this template. The rest of the texts of the list have already been adapted to the new methodology.

In order to state the change request in a "change X to Y" format, what should be replaced is the current content of the template with the following wikicode:
