The Gemfields is a locality in Central Highlands Region, Queensland, Australia, near the town of Emerald.

Geography

The locality contains three small towns: Anakie, Rubyvale, and Sapphire.

History

As the name suggests, the main industry in The Gemfields is sapphire mining, supported by tourism.

At the 2011 census, The Gemfields had a population of 1630.[1]

Amenities

The Central Highlands Regional Council operate a public library at 7 Burridge Road, Rubyvale.[2]

Events

GemFest is an annual festival in the region, attracting large numbers of visitors.[3]
