Early life
[edit]S. Suresh Babu is an Indian film writer, who works mainly in the Malayalam film industry. He made his debut as a writer with director Vinayan's 2000 movie, Dada Sahib.
Suresh Babu is a meritorious alumnus from the famous College of Fine Arts, Trivandrum with starting of his career as a Columnist and Writer with leading Malayalam newspapers and Magazines, Suresh first debut into Malayalam movies was more than 03 decades back in year 1990 with film "Vembanadu", starring yestyear Malayalam superstar and two times recipient of best actress Kerala State Film Award, Ms. Jayabharathi in lead role. From thereon he had scripted and screen played many a commercial super hits of Mollywood with many leading superstars and acclaimed Directors and Producers. Some of his acknowledged contributions to the Malayalam Cine Industry has been with movies like " Dada Sahib, Shikkar, Nadan, Thiruvambadi Thampan, Thandavam, Kanal, Sir C.P, Film Star, The Reporter, Jalam with the latest being OruThee. He is also a proud recipient of the Film Critics award for the Best Editor.
Career
[edit]Besides his career in the film industry, S. Suresh Babu has been a renowned Illustrator too who worked with leading Malayalam Magazines; Mangalam, Vanitha and D.C Books. His career as an Illustrator fetched him quite a good recognition with art lovers and has also received numerous awards for his distinguished illustration skills such as NCERT National Award for Children’s Literature, Kerala State Balasahitya Award for Thenali Raman and Bheema Award etc.
Suresh Babu is a curated painter by his own standards and his works has found way to board rooms, lobbies and drawing rooms of many a Corporate companies / Heritage hotel’s across Kerala. His most acclaimed work had been a series of 100 Painting’s on Travancore Kingdom history, these paintings have been on display at Travancore Hotel in Cochin. A Caricature specialist, Suresh Babu’s most renowned work has been 75 caricatures of the living legend of Indian cinema, the one and only one super star of the Malayalam Industry, Shri Mohanlal. These Caricatures has been based on unforgettable characters played by the movie legend, Shri Mohanlal who had a sprawling career for more than 4 decades. As a tribute to this great actor Malayala Manorama through its online platform manormainline.com had launched an online mobile App named “VESl” (meaning Roles & Looks of life) which features his most celebrated characters, his filmography, the caricatures based on his unforgettable characters of the cinema by Suresh Babu and Chat with Mohanlal.
