Hello. You wrote that the asteroid ist named after the dinosaur. The IAU states that it is named after the newsletter of the Houston Museum of Natural Science, see [1]. The newsletter is called Dashing Diplodocus. The George Observatory in Needville, where the asteroid was discovered, is associated with the museum. The museum has Diplodocus bones on display. That's all. Where's your information from that the asteroid is named directly after the dinosaur as such? Regards, --Gereon K. (talk) 09:44, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

Advice Polack

[edit]

One really cant help wondering if deleting a page as an 'attack page' is a good idea - especially when it was fully referenced and created by a senior Wikipedian, User:John Vandenberg, are we to ban him now as a subversive undesirable?. Even more incompressible is that you delete the page so quickly after it's nomination while a debate is ongoing. Most curious. I've no doubt you have your reasons; if not - I strongly suggest that you invent some.  Giano  20:22, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

I second that. Had you checked the log you would have seen that the page had been deleted before as G10 -- which absolutely doesn't apply -- and then immediately restored by someone who knew better. Your action was especially irresponsible given that a discussion had just begun not an hour earlier among 4 or 5 editors, re source reliability.
What in the world qualified this for G10?
EEng (talk) 20:36, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
I'd like to thank you, Merovingian, for such a swift action. For those who might not realize the significance of your decision, I included sensitive data in my rationale on the talkpage there, which under no circumstances should be featured in Wikipedia, that's why the removal was not only necessary, but also urgent. Thank you again, Poeticbent talk 22:03, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
I'm sorry... where is this sensitive information to be seen? EEng (talk) 22:19, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Article request

We had a red link to Reds Meadow, CA on an article I was working on, Coyote attacks on humans. It seems to be a real place where a notable incident happened: some coyotes suddenly began attacking people, so I made this redirect to West Bishop, California, which was as close as I could get, but as I recall it was not the same place, just the nearest place. Do you think that's as close as we can get the readers of that article to Reds Meadow, the place where it happened? How can we better link readers of that article to the place where it happened? As I recall, it's also notable in that it's at the terminus of some historic trails upon which some notable travels took place. Chrisrus (talk) 06:10, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for helping me. I have run into another place where something important happened and for which the link remains red: Vargas Island. We have Vargas Island Provincial Park, only, so I piped it through to that article. I didn't turn it into a redirect there because I wasn't sure if that would be right. After all, a Provincial Park is one referent, and the island itself is another. But I'm not sure so I thought I'd ask your opinion. I think the Island should get an article of it's own. WHat do you think? You can reply on my talk page as before, but if you would let's keep the conversation in coherent context. Chrisrus (talk) 04:57, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Cones Hotline, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages A45 and Grumpy Old Men (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

In the section Canis_cedazoensis#Fossil_distribution, there is a red link to Cedazo, Mexico. Google hints it may be in San Luis Potosi. Do we have an article about that place, and, if not, do we have another article that is pretty close and would be the best we have in order to pipe the reader through the link to that article, so that s/he will end up fairly close to Cedazo, Mexico? Orphaned non-free media (File:MutekiKanbanMusume OST.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:MutekiKanbanMusume OST.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 16:00, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

The article Boring, Tennessee has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Location does not actually exist. Despite the USGS reference that records a name, there is nothing at the designated GPS location but a single private rural residence, a garage, a horse trailer, and a camper. While the USGS map, Google map, etc. do show the name "Boring" in the general vicinity, there is nothing really there. This is likely a joke name submission to the USGS. In any case, there is zero likelihood that someone's rural residence will ever achieve notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~Amatulić (talk) 06:43, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Abwe

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Abwe requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. CaroleHenson (talk) 15:09, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi,

I am currently attempting to restore that article through DRV. I posted the request several hours ago to have the article restored while awaiting the outcome at DRV. So far I have not received any responses. I was wondering if you could restore the article so I can edit it, add some citations, and remove some cruft. A cart with over 4000 ratings on yelp with 4 and a half stars is notable I thinking the premise on which it was deleted is invalid as well.

If you can restore the full history to some other links so that I can view the history additional citation that would be great!

(all the same cart)

Second article was hoping to work on was Jim's Steaks which was deleted speedy, however I have extensive citations I will add and wikify the article over the weekend. Thank you so much! Valoem talk 22:01, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! Is it possible to restore Jim's steaks as well? I don't think there was too much there, but it is a speedy I am contesting as I have a large amount of information I can add.Valoem talk 18:38, 15 February 2014 (UTC)
