Dua Lipa concert chronology

The Self-Titled Tour was the first worldwide concert tour by British-Albanian singer Dua Lipa, in support of her debut album Dua Lipa (2017). The tour began on 5 October, 2017 in Brighton, England, and concluded on 10 December, 2018 in Denver, Colorado.

Background[edit]

On 19 January, 2016 Hayley Williams announced that Paramore was in the process of writing their next album[1], with the band then uploading footage of themselves in the studio a few months later.[2] Paramore continued to upload studio footage to social media throghout the songwriting process with drummer Zac Farro appearing on June 17, 2016[3], leading many to suspect his return to the band after his departure in 2010. While Farro denied his return to Paramore at the time[4], Billboard announced his return on 2 February, 2017.[5]

On April 19, 2017 Paramore released "Hard Times" as the lead single from their fifth album, After Laughter. The full release of the album followed on May 12, 2017.[6]

The first set of tour dates were announced as "Tour One" on 24 April, 2017, with the band touring intimiate venues in Europe.[7][8] Dates in North America and Oceania followed.[9][10]

"Tour Five" followed as the final set of shows, touring arenas and amphitheatres across North America.[11]

Critical Reception[edit]

In a positive review, Luke Beardsworth from Birmingham Live noted that "Hayley has evolved into a phenomenal frontperson, darting around the stage driving some of the crowd into hysterics."[12] Liam Rutherford for The Sun stated that "The show marked the end of Tour Three but you could have easily mistook it for the first night. The band's infectious energy gripped the crowd throughout." In another positive review, Emma Madden from The Independent stated that "[...] this is a band that is wholeheartedly in love with their music. There's proof of that in every song, and there isn't a single one the band doesn't perform with the grit of Olympians."

The North American leg of the tour was met with similar reception, Andrew Sacher for BrooklynVegan attending the New York City show said: "The current seven-piece band version of Paramore is razor sharp, and they handled all the '80s-inspired nuances of those songs as masterfully as they do on the album." Nicole Economous, writing for The Sydney Morning Herald, praised Hayley's vocal ability: "William's compelling vocal acrobatics barely faltered. Even when treating the crowd to her signature high kicks, her delivery remained blistering."
