please, intros should be kept simple, so he's an Uruguayan footballer not URUGUAYAN-SPANISH, even if he has been given double nationality. OK? No, sorry, only read it now because i only received a notification after logging in for TWO messages, not THREE. If you have seen other good articles that have double nationalities inserted in intro they are wrong man, we at WP are encouraged to write, in the introduction: 1 - the last nation the player represented (for example Mesut Özil is German, not German-Turkish); 2 - no nation at all (for example "Pepe is a footballer who plays for...").

Regarding your request, even though i have edited here for nearly eight years, i know little of the guidelines, i'm more or less a freelancer :) But if you ask here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football) someone surely will guide and assist you.   • In Mustivar's case, please do as follows: in his introduction write "...is a Haitian footballer who plays for...", then start the CLUB CAREER section with "Born in Aubervilliers, France, Mustivar...". I repeat, introductions must remain simple, not complicated.

  • About your wording doubts, the phrase "Petrolul won four national titles and three Romanian Cups since its establishment" you suggest seems 100% well put and correct, you only have to update it if/when the club wins more titles.

1 - "The latin tradition cultivated by the sports club was illustrated by its emblem, which is based on the history of the foundation of Rome where a she-wolf nursed Romulus and Remus" is a good bet i think;

2 - "1-2" or "2-1" are both correct in my opinion, but the English (British)* correct form (i've been told) is to say "2-1 loss" when the match is away and "1-2 loss" it the match is held at home. Happy Saturday --AL (talk) 18:17, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi there DODO (this is former user ALWAYS LEARNING, 99,999% retired),

please, again, in the storyline it's FC PETROLUL PLOIESTI, PETROLUL PLOIESTI is for the box OK? Full name in storyline. In the intros, we are not supposed to write divisions of clubs anymore (because the relegations and promotions mean we would have to update many clubs several years), so we will write "plays for Romanian club FC Petrolul Ploiesti as a...".

Da, user-ul care va face echipamentul ar trebui sa traga nitel cu ochiul la echipamentul nationalei Croatiei si al lui Bradford City din Anglia. Mai trebuiesc gasite numerele noilor jucatori achizitionati pentru sezonul 2015/16, modificat pe pagina principala sponsorul principal respectiv actualizarea componontei staff-ului. The bit I removed in intro (him being captain) belongs in storyline (when he became captain, we could write for example "In X year, Budescu was appointed team captain").

  • Done with Nicolae Stanciu, I did not know who did what just by looking at the edit history, so I proceeded as habitually. Now, I'll need your assistance please, in the translation of the following Romanian refs: #13, about Neymar and Brazil, I am pretty sure I translated it all wrong because sentence makes no sense at all; #14, the "Cît ia Vasluiul de la Steaua în schimbul lui" part; #16, the "unul dintre remarcatii finalului de campionat vrea sa se impuna si in mandatul lui Radoi" part. The rest, I think I translated more or less accurately.

I think a better move would be to "Nicolae Stanciu (footballer, born 1993)", but that's just my opinion. Remember, stuff about him being scouted by X or Y clubs is not relevant for his article unless a transfer does happen (his article already has the mention of clubs like Brescia or Hoffenheim tracking him, no need for more).

Hopefully you won't be upset, but I don't think there is a need a sub-section for tournaments (Stanciu's article), the text flows better that way (he gained his first cap on 23 MARCH and almost immediately after he was called to the squad, it's best to keep it in same paragraph; just remember, then we have the 2018 WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS, the finals, more friendlies, EURO 2020, it would be quite a mess trying to sort that out in sections). I also made some adjustments after your very nice work (for example, with the style of play section you created, no need to mention his playmaking skills again in intro).

Euro 2016

Thanks for the kind words, but I don't support any team, the national team is a team with the country's emblem inserted in it, nothing more, nothing less. Plus, I don't like the hysterical nationalism that nations go into every two years, and I am a bit sick and tired of the worship this guy gets.

In my opinion, THEY (the players, the staff) won the tournament, I did not win anything, they do not represent me. They won a couple of FOOTBALL matches, that is it. I like football, of course, do not get me wrong. But these idiotic interviews/analysis DAY AFTER DAY, the parades, etc, they have what to do with football?

  • Hi there, it's me without an account. I never got to do any stuff on Alibec (working in real life now), but i trust in your work so no worries there. About Nicolae Stanciu (footballer, born 1993), the following tips: 1 - no need for all that info in intro, i trimmed it down a bit; 2 - display of publishers in references, when you add the [[]] the first time (for example "BBC Sport"; the second time you refer to that site you only need to write "BBC Sport", without the wikilinks); 3 - the fact Steaua defeated Sparta Prague with his goals is very important, the fact they went on to play against Man. City is not (for Stanciu's article, it belongs in Steaua's page not here); 4 - international career, again i removed the sub-headers, especially the second because it has an enormous title. I think it flows better like this but if you reinsert them again don't worry i give up, will not touch that part again; 5 - Stanciu NOT PLAYING against Switzerland does not merit any mention in the text, only the games with France and Albania.

Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section.
