Image copyright problem with Image:Fajara beach.JPG
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Fajara beach.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 10:30, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Your questions answered (hopefully)
[edit]- Wikifying: You wikified the article very well. It is obvious you do not need any practice in that area.
- Gambia: a)I wouldn't worry. As long as you know about the subject it shouldn't matter. b)A relevant WikiProject would help. Try WP:WikiProject Africa.
- Wikicode: I can help you there. My sandbox will show you the basic stuff and if you ask me on my talk page I can easily explain the more complicated formatting.
- Templates: They all have specific requirements in those areas. As a general rule, templates go at the top of the page or section (Article for cleanup, deletion etc, Talk page for most others. Once you understand Wikicode, creating templates should be easy.
- Images: I'm not overly familiar with them but I can help with categories, licences and templates. If I don't know something, I can look it up quickly.
That's about everything you mentioned that needs covering now. I'll happily help with anything else. George D. Watson (Dendodge).TalkHelp 23:13, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
In response to your query
[edit]Sorry for the lateness of the reply. My internet´s down so I´m having to access Wikipedia in Spain. (I´m on holiday there). The idea of being bold is to be bold. If you think something needs doing, do it. Although it is possible to link almost every word, that is obviously taking it too far. If you feel you are going too far, don´t go any further on that article. Only link the first occurance of each word and don´t link words that occur commonly. It is not useful to link the word hat, although busby, referring to a particular type of hat is. It all depends on the context and really, there is no rule but that set by your best judgement. Hope that helped (or I´ve just wasted 3€). I´m trying to get my internet sorted and I should be on this computer as much as possible, so please don´t hesitate to contact me with further queries. Further apologies for the lateness, George D. Watson (Dendodge).TalkHelp 19:47, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of User:Annatto
[edit]A tag has been placed on User:Annatto, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:User:Annatto|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Annatto (talk) 15:12, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Ubxtrolley.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:28, 20 December 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 18:28, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Just dropping you a note about having listed some images you have uploaded at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images/2008 December 20#More SXC images, seeing as they appear to be sourced from http://www.sxc.hu and tagged as free licensed without a confirmation that the photographer who uploaded it to sxc.hu has granted permission to use this license. The images are File:Stock Bigben.jpg, File:Stock size1.jpg, File:Stock size2.jpg, File:Stock balloon.jpg, File:Stock balloon2.jpg and File:Yearnin.jpg. --Sherool (talk) 19:05, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Image tagging for File:Ubxtrolley.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Ubxtrolley.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned non-free image File:Africell.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Africell.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 04:37, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

I'm guessing you were replying to my comment I posted a few months ago. Next time can you give some more context in your reply, or link to the old discussion so that I'll know what you're talking about? Thanks and sorry for any misunderstandings. - M0rphzone (talk) 22:22, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Africell
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Africell, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be a clear copyright infringement of http://www.lintel.com/Holding. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. heyzec! 09:30, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Contests
[edit]User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:11, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
Invite to the African Destubathon
[edit]Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing, whether it's a river in Malawi, a Nigerian footballer, or a South African civil rights activist, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. For those of you who signed up to the North African contest, that will hopefully be held in the new year. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:11, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
