Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Manfred von Ardenne into Television. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:36, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya, I see you added to Höchst's page with this edit. If you could kindly tell me where you found this exact number so I could add it as a citation, I'd be grateful! -Asheiou (they/them • talk) 13:21, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Radio

[edit]

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for improving the radio article with that material you added that was supported by that nobelprize.org citation. However, the text you added after that did not have a citation, so it had to be removed. If this was a mistake, of if you have a citation for that secondary bit of text, please feel free to re-add, albeit with a citation of that source. If you ever have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 17:31, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

tagging edits

[edit]

HI @BauhausFan89, thanks for your efforts to improve Wikipedia's coverage of Kant. The edits you have made are not, however, "minor" on the Wikipedia definition. For future reference, you can find that definition here. You are likely to be reverted, or just generally annoy other editors, by tagging non-minor edits as minor.

Cheers, Patrick J. Welsh (talk) 19:41, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ah, thank you. will remember that. :) BauhausFan89 (talk) 16:49, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Still marking non minor edits as minor as of July 2024, so apparently not. TylerBurden (talk) 14:46, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DHL Group

[edit]

Hey,

you wrote that the "DHL Group was the largest logistics company worldwide in 2022."

The stated reference only says that the DHL group is "the worldwide leading post and logistics company according to themselves". Companies sometimes claim to be the "leading company" while not being the largest one. The reference does not say by which measure DHL is supposed to be the largest. Do you know by which measure and do you have a better reference? WikiPate (talk) 00:02, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Germans

[edit]

You are editing against consensus on the Germans article. Please avoid edit warring. You clearly want to change the article in a very fundamental way. You'll need to try to convince others on the talk page, and not just by repeating the same types of edits over and over. The article is basically about German citizens at the moment. The concept of "ethnic Germans" living outside of Germany does not seem to have a standard definition in the 21st century, although it is a topic discussed in many different ways for distinct historical periods. So it is a difficult one to handle. I think it needs to be handled more thoughtfully. Andrew Lancaster (talk) 07:33, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please make sure to give attribution

[edit]

Hey, about the article Romanesque architecture in Germany- it is effectively a word-for-word copy of Architecture of Germany. I see unaddressed concerns about this on your talk page as well. Doing so makes it difficult to trace the origins of content, as per Wikipedia's licensing, which is why it is generally discouraged. Please make sure to provide attribution. For more information, see WP:CWW. Thanks! Sincerely, Guessitsavis (she/they) (Talk) 23:45, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for the advice. I will remove the text besides the most basic points. BauhausFan89 (talk) 22:28, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to dog

[edit]

I have reverted your change to dog from November 2023: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dog&diff=prev&oldid=1184692364

You claimed that dogs were domesticated in Oberkassel, Bonn. Obviously that town did not exist tens of thousands of years ago, and something that long ago could not be narrowed to a specific area. (It didn't even *happen* in such a small area.) Unsurprisingly, it wasn't in the citation that you inserted your text next to. I believe this was deliberate vandalism. Please refrain from that in future. Quietbritishjim (talk) 21:22, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Image dos and don'ts

[edit]

Images make Wikipedia more informative, accessible, and professional.

In general, when working with images:
DO:
Review the image style guide and use policy.
Give context with captions and alt text.
Try to find at least one image for each article.
Find free images, or create and upload your own.
Clean up images: crop, color-correct, etc.
Use the best file format for each image.
Use objects for scale where helpful.
Place images in the section to which they are related
DON'T:
Don't upload non-free images.
Don't use images in place of tables or charts.
Don't use images or galleries excessively.
Don't add images that are not relevant.
Don't flip faces, text, or works of art.
Don't set fixed image sizes.
Don't sandwich text between two images.
Don't refer to images by their placement.
Don't place images too early or at the end of sections.

Fortune Global 500

[edit]

Hey you previously undid my correction of your edit on the Fortune Global 500 Rankings. You falsly included company leaders in industries while the ranking was only about sector leaders as I mentioned in my edit summary before. SunshineeDarkness (talk) 19:55, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing

[edit]

Hey there, I saw you give WP:BAREURLs as references which are vulnerable to wp:linkrot. An easy and fast way to build full citations would be with one of the wp:CITETOOLs.

I personally recommend [Citer]--easy copy-pasting. JackTheSecond (talk) 23:39, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Certain articles have Stewart's as they are featured articles and have gone under extensive editor evaluation. Pls see WP:FAOWN ..... The best best course of action is to open up a discussion of the talk page about inclusion at Talk:Germany. Moxy🍁 01:15, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Frankfurt

[edit]

Hi, your alterations to the Frankfurt collage are always the beginning of the end of a good collage. Every time you add a photo of Höchst in the collage. Höchst isn't at all what Frankfurt is known for, it is, if at all, an insider tip, that no one outside of Frankfurt knows about. This time, you replaced a photo of the reconstructions on the Römerberg, that are a thousand times more famous and more well-known, with your Höchst photo. Höchst does not belong in the collage. If you don't have good arguments for the change, i will undo it. Tibesti1 (talk) 14:32, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sport in Germany, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Michael Gross. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

General WP:UNDUE and Copying within Wikipedia

[edit]

Information icon Please do not wholesale copy/paste material from a Wikipedia article about a specific individual to a Wikipedia article about a general topic as you did here. General histories on a topic should follow reliable sources on that topic. They are not based on your observations that Braun "shared the nobel prize" with Marconi so he should be mentioned along with Marconi. Fountains of Bryn Mawr (talk) 14:36, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
