Do not make contested moves

I think it's time for all of us to drop the article "the" from "the Earth" to cherish and honour our unique home planet.

Life is beautiful, so does our home. It would be greatly appreciated if you could use your admin power to do a bulk change from "the Earth" to "Earth".

Hi, I am not an administrator, but I am familiar with some of Wikipedia's guidelines and policies, and I'm pretty sure that this will not work. For instance:

• in this edit you removed the article from "The Earth tide". Bad idea.
• in this edit, likewise with "The Earth sciences".
• in this edit you removed only one "the" from "... exerted by the Moon and the Sun and the rotation of the Earth." Bad idea.

Please have a look at wp:retain.

I suggest that you first open a new talk page section at Talk:Earth and propose to remove "the" from all the occurences of "the Earth" in article Earth, and in Wikipedia in general. I'm pretty sure that this has been discussed before, and the regular contributors will point you to the relevant discussions. Good luck. - DVdm (talk) 14:24, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
