Notability of Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols, by 70.244.57.41 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 19:24, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Editing is blocked only for new users and IPs. Once you've edited 10 times elsewhere you should be able to edit the article. It gets vandalised every time it's unprotected. Dougweller (talk) 14:48, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
The article Catherine Bracy has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Gbawden (talk) 12:44, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Catherine Bracy

A tag has been placed on Catherine Bracy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Everything OK now, JodyB? I've added categories, I've supplied secondary references ... Let me know if anything else is necessary for demonstration of notability.
I have "userfied" this article for you - moved it to the location above in your userspace where you can work on it. If it is to be kept, you need to show how the CELEF meets Wikipedia's inclusion criterion, which is called WP:Notability, and is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought it significant enough to write substantial comment about? See also WP:Notability (summary) and WP:Notability (organizations and companies.
If you input an article which does not at least make a credible claim of significance or importance, it is liable to be speedily deleted (because many people put in "articles" like that and never improve them). If you want to take time over developing an article, the best way is to click on Help:Userspace draft and input the title: that will make a draft page for you to work in.
You need to consider notability when choosing a subject, in order to avoid wasting time. There is good advice at WP:Your first article. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:06, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
Catherine Bracy needs better sourcing
[edit]You have made a start on the Catherine Bracy article. But you do not have any reliable sources. You need things like newspaper articles or magazine reports of Bracy and her work. LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube are generally not accepted either. The idea is that if Bracy is truly notable, there will be coverage of her in other works that are considered reliable. I would start with local newspaper coverage and work from there. Just because a person or organization exists does not mean it is worthy of an article here. I would quickly gather those sources and bring them to the article. Otherwise, the article will be removed. Let me know if I can explain or help. JodyB talk 01:42, 28 November 2013 (UTC)
JodyB, I probably won't be able to work on this again until around 3-4 December. Are PandoWeekly, ThinkUp, ... *not* considered reliable magazines? As I read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Introduction_to_referencing/4, I understood them to be among those "... written by the publisher's professional writers ...", and therefore included--in fact, to be preferred over local newspapers. If local newspapers are preferred, then perhaps I'll make time next week to provide those.
