About James Denton

[edit]

I have no problem with that, but I just thought I should let you know that I didn't write the James Denton (Gay activist) article. I merely moved it from the Jamie Denton article which, prior to the move, contained biographies for two persons, the gay activist (which now got his seperate article) and the presumably more famous Desperate Housewives actor playing the role of Mike Delfino.

If I for some odd reason should come across a page mensioning the gay denton, I'll put up a link. :) --MadiZone 09:11, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocking of User:Noobarei

[edit]

I have unblocked the above user, whom you indefinitely blocked, because he seems genuinely sorry about his vandalism on Xbox and methamphetamine, and left a message on my talk page to that effect [1]. As the person who originally warned him (the last vandal I warned before getting the mop), I believe an indefinite block is too harsh, and have unblocked him with a warning not to vandalise again. Request for unblocking this IP

[edit]

(Note I'm making this request on behalf of user:Brian New Zealand) I would like to request the unblockage of User:125.236.44.48. I am aware that that IP has made many vandalist edits, however its a shared school IP, and some of the editors do many good things. However I feel 12 weeks is excessive when it is blocking legitament users as well. user:Brian New Zealand is prevented from editing by this, and he is a good active contributor to wikipedia (as well as being active on other projects. admin on wikinews:). Thanks for listening. Bawolff 23:27, 29 June 2006 (UTC) (also avalible on irc. primarily on #wikinews and #wikinews-en)[reply]

ЯEDVERS awards this Barnstar to Can't sleep, clown will eat me for putting in the hard admin work that makes Wikipedia better for everybody.

Thanks for spotting that 85.217.208.40 was an open proxy. Didn't even think to check when I blocked it for a week.

BTW, isn't it about time you archived this very very long talk page?

Oh, and have one of these. ЯEDVERS 19:27, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is a faction of people who want me to unarchive my older discussions, because this page isn't long enough.  ;-) I really need to trim this down though. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 19:29, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Carney, Fish, Kennington

[edit]

Before you make the articles completely go poof, you may want to check the behavior of some of the editors who vandalised the pages, as well as the original author. A link posted in the Fish article was a GNAA link. The editor who posted it, as well as the original author who posted the tree articles may be GNAA operatives. --DarkAudit 22:18, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Simon Overall

[edit]

I hate to be so picky, but why was Simon Overall deleted with the rationale of CSD A7? That did not apply, because it did clearly assert notability (even if the assertions were false). Some non-criteria for speedy deletion are hoaxes and "non-notable subjects with their importance asserted" "even if [their claims seem] ridiculous". Ardric47 06:30, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If another administrator wishes to overturn the deletion of this non-notable hoax for any reason, I have no objection to that. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 06:34, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trouble with an anon user

[edit]

Recently after I inserted a sourced link for the artcile List of U.S. cities in multiple counties, User 198.181.182.2 reverts it. I didn't want to be involved in an edit war due to the fact that it's not civil, plus the 3RR rule, but I warn the user to cite sources. I just wanted to know how to solve this problem, thanks! --Moreau36 00:34, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Hey, I have a question regarding a page I found and you seem like a fairly active user here, so I thought I'd drop you a line. Basically, I randomly came across the page Shawn Cloninger on the recent edits page, and I'm unsure as to whether I should nominate it for deletion. I noticed that the name of user who created it matches one of the subject's own nicknames, which could qualify it for vanity, and I'm not sure whether local radio DJs are covered by WP:BIO. It seems borderline to me, but then I'm relatively new to this. What do you think? Phileas 06:29, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It probably depends on the size of the radio station and the market it serves, but there is nothing definitive within WP:BIO that applies to radio disc jockeys as far as I know. Personally, I don't have a problem with the article, but if you have any doubts you can always take it to WP:AFD and see what happens. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 06:31, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thanks. Phileas 07:08, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

recent2.js

[edit]

I think the problem was that you changed the warning message, which caused a syntax error. A string like this: 'Can't "sleep"' is invalid. This is OK: 'Can\'t "sleep"' and so is this: "Can't \"sleep\"". Hope this helps, Lupin|talk|popups 14:03, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good evening. You deleted and protected this page from re-creation. The recent DRV discussion was closed as "Author requested deletion". While the DRV discussion was hardly civil, I think there was some evidence that the user has learned more about our policies and standards. Do you think that it would be safe to remove the deletedpage yet? Rossami (talk) 02:22, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AOL blocks

[edit]

You probably know more about this stuff than I do; I just got a complaint about AOL still being blocked, and the edit summary resembled one of yours, I think. Could you take a look? Thanks... CanadianCaesar Et tu, Brute? 06:40, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That is rather odd, anonymous editing was specifically enabled. It is becoming increasingly difficult to assume good faith here, but I have released the block for now. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 07:43, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not to bother you or anything, but it does look as if your range blocks are preventing account creation "Account creation from this IP address (64.12.116.202) has been temporarily restricted." I checked, and this is what I get, over, and over again, is it possible that you're not using the correct type of IP block? or is this intentional?--AOL user 17:14, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I might be mistaken, but is it possible that you're using the wrong type of range block? The one you are currently using on AOL ranges is definitely prohibiting account creation--AOL user 22:41, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is a limit of I believe 6 accounts per day to each AOL subnet, so it may be that that number has been exhausted for the day. I am not sure how long it takes until it refreshes, but I assume its something in the neighborhood of 24 hours. Please let me know what the exact phrasing is of the error message you're receiving and I'll check into this further. By the way, is there a reason you need another account?  ;-) Can't sleep, clown will eat me 22:45, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I don't, I just decided the best way to see if it worked was to test it myself. The message is "Account creation from this IP address (*.*.*.*) has been temporarily restricted. This is probably due to persistent vandalism from your school or Internet service provider." which is a completly different message than the one dealing with the number of accounts created--AOL user 22:51, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. Well, the block has been released in its entirety, we'll see what happens. Thanks for keeping me apprised of the AOLsituation. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 22:56, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Back again...

[edit]

Can you just have a look at these - this IP has changed three Sockpuppet templates to be from Iasson to Faethon. I didn't want to do anything, because I didn't know if I would be right in changing them back. The link is: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&target=193.92.154.197  Killfest 07:20, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, since I can't see any reason why an anonymous editor should be changing sockpuppet tags, and the editor in question failed to provide a legitimate reason (or any reason at all, for that matter), the changes have been reverted. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 07:21, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's what i was thinking, but I've caused enough controversy in my short time using VP (check my talk page), so I probably didn't have the confidence to revert them. Thanks for being bold.  Killfest 07:25, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and are users allowed to post information on their pages which is degrading to Wikipedia, like so?  Killfest 07:28, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Its a judgement call. These types are best ignored, in my opinion. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 07:31, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's hard when they criticise your every move on your talk page - is there a feature where you can block a specific user from editing a specific page?  Killfest 07:33, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, the only avenues available right now, other than user blocking, are protection and semi-protection. With regards to this case specifically, I would just leave the person be. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 07:41, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Amonos Mountains

[edit]

Thanks for the assistance with IP 193.255.230.227! S/he does have a point in the current title of the page being wrong, but is just proceeding in the wrong manner. Should I go ahead and move the page to Nur Mountains, given that no-one else has commented on my title request query at Talk:Amonos Mountains? - MPF 10:25, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, if there are no objections. The main thing the anon editor needs to understand is that cut/paste swaps are frowned upon, mostly because they do not preserve the edit history, and would later require a cumbersome merge by way of moving, deleting, and restoring. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 22:48, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Done. I fear the anon (probably through lack of knowledge of English; I suspect he's Turkish) just doesn't understand the page move concept as he's not responded to any requests to ask on talk pages - MPF 23:14, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Comedy on screen

[edit]

Let me explain why I think some such list, not necessarily with that title, is important. As an actor in community theater, I often look for films of stage plays, particularly films of plays I plan to try out for or have a role in. These films are often produced for academic film libraries, and may be hard to find. I chose the title "Comedy on film" not because I liked the title but in imitation of Shakespeare on film.

Would you have similar objections to an article titled "List of filmed plays"? Would "List of filmed Shakespeare plays" be a better title for Shakespeare on film?

Hi. I noticed you reverted this vandalism by User:Brandon03: [2]

Just a short while later, a very similar vandalism was made by anon IP 65.138.69.18: [3]

Seems good evidence of sockpuppetry to me. Since you're the one who blocked him, I felt you might want to know he's evading your block. Kasreyn 17:24, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally, I blocked and legally warned User talk: 65.138.68.151 for defamation per the defban discussion; immediately thereafter, this brandon user defamed Francis and myself on his talkpage, which I protected. This is a recent string of attacks ranging from simple vandalism to defamation, and I'm also willing to help block sockpuppets now that I'm committed to the issue. — Deckiller 17:27, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I don't know how to handle this kind of problem, so I thought I'd bring it to you (I've seen your admin work occasionally). The user Buddy the Bird has been adding huge numbers of pages, all containing exactly the same content. Read his contributions for a list, such as AMX-014 Doven Wolf, Austrian hip hop, Albanian hip hop, etc. Can you help? -- dcclark (talk) 01:31, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For my future reference, what is the preferred method of reporting this sort of problem? It didn't seem to fit under WP:VIP and such. -- dcclark (talk) 01:58, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The name had escaped me initially, but this account was a sockpuppet of Philp the Moose (see Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Philp the Moose). What you can do is tag the userpage with {{sockpuppet|Philp the Moose}} and then report it to WP:AIV for blocking and crosspost to WP:ANI as well for clean up. If the nonsense persists, make a note on the long term abuse page, and I will contact someone with CheckUser abilities to see about escalating this back to the vandal's service provider. Vandalism to CAPTCHA

[edit]

Hi, you added a standard test template to User_talk:200.44.228.173, but I think that this type of edit (CAPTCHA, 27 Jul 2006) warrants a immediate block or at the very least a last warning. Han-Kwang 15:26, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Most administrators tend not to block an IP address outright when they've only made one edit. Generally speaking, it is only appropriate to block after a single edit if the address leads to a compromised proxy server. This isn't the first time this spammer has caught my attention though, so I've added their domain to my badwords list if they try to return. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 00:24, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User ban related to edits of article on Frank Sartor

[edit]

You blocked an IP 202.173.128.90. on the grounds of "repeated vandalism for several days, please log in if you wish to edit - AO". The user concerned has contacted the unblocking list. My understanding is that it was due to problematic edits of the article on Frank Sartor. I have removed them and will add it to my watchlist. Are you aware of any other problematic edits by this user or was it all related to Frank Sartor. Capitalistroadster 09:28, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

All of the vandalism-related edits should be reverted now, but other articles which were affected include Simon Hackett, Chicken Run, Refugee, and Immigration Restriction Act 1901. The block issued was for anon-only, so registered users should not be affected. If you come across any who are, please have them contact me. AOL account creation blocks

[edit]

What is the reason for not blocking AOL account creation during the short AOL IP blocks? If AOL account creations are limited to 6 by subnet, wouldn't blocking account creation actually help more legitimate users by preventing that quota from being used up by vandals during a heavy vandalism time? —Centrxtalk • 02:48, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is one of six IP addresses registered to an Australian school that seem to do nothing but vandalism. The six IP addresses have 66 unique blocks among them, and the other five of them are under long-term blocks, some of which you set. The IP in question was on a vandalism spree last night, was blocked for three hours (its 12th block) and immediately returned after the block to vandalize your talk archive. Since these IP's seem to be unreformable vandals, I'd recommend you take the same action against this IP as you did against the others and block it for a considerable period of time. - Bootstoots 14:55, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced quotes

[edit]

I appreciate the fact that you apparently scour wikipedia for vulgarities and vandalism, but I saw you recently removed the entire list of Wack Pack quotes because they are "unsourced." Does anyone really doubt that any one of these quotations was uttered by a Wack Packer on the Howard Stern Show? For example, would it be sensible to go and delete, say, the entire section The_Jim_Rome_Show#Classic_takes just because each of the items on the list is not properly sourced? I think the fans of these radio shows find these lists useful. By the way, if I annotated these quotes with the date of their broadcast, would it be acceptable to you? Let me know your thoughts.

By the way, when your removed the quotes you deleted the "{{Howard_Stern_Show}}" box, something else readers might find useful.--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back 03:34, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but quotes belong on Wikiquote not Wikipedia. If they are not properly sourced, they shouldn't be in either location. I will replace the {{Howard_Stern_Show}} template if it is still missing, thanks for the heads up on that. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 03:36, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen a lot of articles with quotes on them--articles about movies or Simpsons episodes, for example. Should they all be deleted? Also, please answer my question about the proper way to "source" a quote from a radio program. Is the date of its broadcast sufficient?--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back 03:40, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I do believe that long lists such as these should be relocated to Wikiquote if they can be properly sourced, including those in articles about episodes of The Simpsons. The guideline for reliable sources on Wikipedia is available at Wikipedia:Reliable sources , but since this content belongs on a sister project, you might want to check and see what their specific guidelines are before migrating. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 03:51, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Another proposed guideline you may be interested in is Wikipedia:Quotations, which suggests when and when not to use quotes within a Wikipedia article. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 04:00, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This is helpful, and of course I agree with the guideline's point that too many quotes can ruin an encyclopedia article. But I still think it's problematic to ask editors to provide a "source" for something they heard on a radio--and I'm not just talking about sources for radio quotes; I'm talking about verifiability in general as it pertains to articles about content that was broadcast on the radio. I've read Wikipedia:Reliable sources and haven't found the answer.--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back 04:12, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Consistency issue

[edit]

Dear Can't Sleep Clown Will Eat Me,

I need your help. I belive you are an administrator on Wikipedia. I have seen you revert vandalism and clear up edits in many places, which is why I am asking you. As you would probably know, there is an article on the Red Hot Chili Peppers' new album, Stadium Arcadium, where many fans are publishing more than needs to be published for the article. I do not know if I am doing the right thing on the article, which is why I am asking your advice and help in some ways. The bulk of the article, as shown in the current edit is largely irrelevant and uncited. If you read the article, you can see that under heading: "History," an article is used to detail the album but is uncited. I also daresay the information about the album's UK release and underpricing on Amazon.co.uk is not necessary to the article. There is also citation needed in the description under Direction and Style about the songs. Most of the article can also be cut down. I have tried doing so myself and putting a 'this article does not cite its references or sources,' as shown here [8], but this has been removed a number of times by unregistered users. Also about projection boxes: are they really necessary? I know a few other albums on the site have them, but in the interests of consistency, wouldn't it be better to fit all albums with projection boxes or none at all? Thanks for your time; I hope you will be able to advise me on this. Musikxpert 05:29, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Den'enchōfu

[edit]

I'm puzzled by this reversion by you. The paragraph that you zapped is not well-written, and neither (like most of WP) is it sourced; but it's verifiable on foot, and I can assure you that most of it is true. (As for the rest, I don't know.) -- Hoary 07:08, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This was reverted because it was unsourced and written by a problematic user. Please add it back if you can provide reliable sources for the content. Thank you, Can't sleep, clown will eat me 07:09, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The demand for sourcing is a bit unrealistic when you can just go to Den'enchōfu and see for yourself. Well, chances are that you can't but as it happens I can (which means nothing) and thousands of others can too (which does mean something). I do have serious reservations about this article as it was before the latest addition/deletion/reinsertion: it seems to me to recycle stereotypes about Den'enchōfu that are only partly true. (Also, I'm pretty sure that at least one of the photos isn't of Den'enchōfu, and the others are uninformative.) -- Hoary 08:11, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BLP template

[edit]

Hi. It might be best if you didn't subst {{Blp}}, for two reasons:

  • I'm not entirely sure it's fully stable yet
  • I have an AWB run underway through the entire Living people category (about 2/3 done now), removing Blp and replacing them with WPBiography|living=yes. Any subst'd templates can't be replaced and the living persons bio warning will then be on the talk page twice.

No reply needed. Cheers. --kingboyk 22:35, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note. It looks like WPBiography is a superset of the BLP template, I need to catch up on current events it seems.  ;-) Can't sleep, clown will eat me 22:37, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
:) They both transclude the same text, and since WPBio is gonna be plonked onto all relevant talk pages anyway, I figure that it's easiest to stick to that one template. Happy tagging! --kingboyk 22:44, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Improper AFD nomination

[edit]

Hi. That article was nominated by Anomo who failed to use an edit summary at all when s/he added the tag. I note that per Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion the proper procedure is to note that one is adding an AFD tag. Should the closed AFD discussion be re-opened? (Disclaimer: I have not worked on article or find myself agreeing it should be kept, but am disappointed that I and other people who may be watching the page were not notified of this discussion.) --Chan-Ho (Talk) 20:44, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Generally speaking, many editors fail to use edit summaries, including when nominating articles for deletion. [10] [11] Based on a quick review, it looks like somewhere between 10-20% of the articles brought to AFD were missing relevant summaries. Perhaps a few friendly reminders regarding edit summaries are called for, but I don't think it warrants reopening the discussion. If you disagree with this or any other outcome, you can always refer to matter to WP:DRV for review. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 20:58, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IMDb as a source

[edit]

Hi, Can't sleep, clown will eat me. this image uploaded by you has imdb as it source. Although the image can really be found on imdb, I believe the site is not the original source for the picture. As the image used the {{Promotional}} template, we need the original source to be sure the image comes from a press kit. Can you take a look at that? Thanks, --Abu Badali 21:35, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Abu. The text below the source URL reads "IMDb Photos are provided to IMDb.com by industry professionals, their agents and legal representatives" and is the primary publicity photograph used on IMDb for Ray Liotta. If this is not sufficient to meet the definition of fair use of a promotional photo, please feel free to list it on Images for deletion as I have been unable to locate an alternate free image for this person. Userfy request

[edit]

If you'd be so kind, I'd like to request that this article be userfied in my namespace. The author or major contributor is on a temp. wikibreak and wishes to work on it after he returns (K.V.). User:SynergeticMaggot/sandbox is technically a violation of the GDFL since it doesn't' include a revision history... and presuming that eventually the article would be moved back into article space it might be a little bit of a problem. Vocal profile for Sarah Brightman

[edit]

While I concede some points, I maintain that the reference to her highest note is sourced and therefore valid. I'm not sure what more you want for reliable sources. I was told that a reference to the Phantom of the Opera sheet music with the page that contains an inked-in E6 would suffice if the E6 is required for the role of Christine (it is); I added that. I offered to provide a few seconds-long clip of the song in question (the title song of POTO) with an audio recording of her hitting said E6, which is verifiable simply by taking a piano or keyboard and testing it (or using audio software to test it). Crystallina 03:34, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Neither sheet music nor original research is really acceptable as a valid source for an artist's vocal range. If you can provide a print reference, such as an interview or a biographical article, that documents this person's range explicitly that would be best. This has been discussed before, but if you have any further questions about what would qualify as a reliable source for this type of detail, please refer to Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Music. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 05:26, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand how a publicly released audio recording of artist singing a note qualifies as "original research". Pitch is objective, not subjective. Something is either, say, a middle C or it isn't. It's like taking a picture of a red square and calling it red. Crystallina 00:35, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you do not understand why listening to a song and then comparing it to your piano is original research, please defer to the aforemention WikiProject for assistance. Thanks, Can't sleep, clown will eat me 00:39, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have already read the WikiProject page and its corresponding talk page. As I said above, pitch is objective - not subjective. It verifies itself as color or shape would. You have not addressed the issue that a mass-produced, publicly available recording of a singer producing a note is verifiable proof that a singer is capable of producing said note and has produced said note in the past, especially when said note would be accessible from the article as I proposed above so that anyone who had doubts could personally hear him or her producing the note. Why was this article undeleted? We can't even post that there exist allegations about the guy without him tracking me down and calling my office pretending to be an NBC executive and threatening legal action. There was enough delete votes and the article is useless if it an only contain positive things, with or without semi-protection, thanks to the threat of a libel suit just for saying 2 people claim he was an ass in University. Why the undelete? :( jobeus 17:04, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The reasons for semi-protection should be obvious (repeated vandalism of a biographical article). The fate of this article is currently being discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brian Mandelbaum, please direct your comments there for the time being and remember that this is a discussion, not a vote. Autoblock issues

[edit]

Hello! I hope you are feeling fine. I would like to inform you that I am suffering from an autoblock right now. Here are the details of the three IP addresses:

Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing.
You were blocked by Jtkiefer for the following reason (see our blocking policy):
Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "Alien2". The reason given for Alien2's block is: "sockpuppet of User:NickBush".
Your IP address is 165.21.155.8.

Please solve this situation soon. Thank You! --Siva1979Talk to me 03:51, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Siva1979, it appears that autoblocks 239503, 239508, and 239509 have been cleared. Please let me know if you are still experiencing any further problems. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 04:24, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for more detail

[edit]
  • 08:56, 7 June 2006 Can't sleep, clown will eat me (Talk | contribs) blocked "61.69.12.15 (contribs)" with an expiry time of indefinite (per request of De La Salle College Malvern)

This block has affected me, could you please lift it and then re-block allowing logged in users to edit? You may also want to know that 61.69.12.12/24 are all used by the same school (Just incase you feel like blocking some more IPs). I was also hoping you could explain in more detail the reasoning behind the block. --Michael Billington (talkcontribs) 12:58, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Computer Systems Manager of this school specifically requested that this school be restricted from editing due to repeated libelous content being generated from their network; I will contact Mr. Barnard and see if he is interested in converting this into a soft-block. Thanks for the heads up, Can't sleep, clown will eat me 16:52, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure if you have the right school then, this is an IP address of St. Joseph's College, Melbourne, where I am editing from now. (Hence me being curious as to why it was blocked at the request of another school) Michael Billington (talkcontribs) 02:23, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
From what I understand, this network is shared amongst a small number of schools in the same region. I will go ahead and enable soft blocking (anon-only) while I await his response. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 04:23, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Dacre vandalism

[edit]

The Paul Dacre article is still being vandalised. I've reverted but the unsupported edits have reappeared. -- Whpq 15:15, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And possible sock puppetry at work if you examine the changes to Tim Lovejoy -- Whpq 15:17, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Whpq, this is now being investigated. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 17:27, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Next top model train wreck

[edit]

Good call on closing that debate. I predict it was going to go on until 2015. Cheers! Budgiekiller 19:59, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The problem with bulk nominations, especially those in the neighborhood of 70 and 80 articles, is that they're difficult to manage and near impossible to derive consensus. I trust that everyone has learned from this and we'll successfully reach consensus on a number of these articles in the weeks to come. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 20:10, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Couldn't agree more. Job done, for the time being. Budgiekiller 20:15, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to ask you to reconsider the deletion of this article. The person in question is not notable, and none of the arguments presented demonstrate that she is notable. --- Hong Qi Gong 00:33, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There was not a consensus to delete this article. Wikipedia:Deletion policy clearly states, in bold, "If in doubt, don't delete." If you would like to contest this closure, you may do so at WP:DRV. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 00:37, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stacy's friend

125.236.44.50 keeps vandalizing. Doesn't he need another block? --Ypacaraí 10:10, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question regarding policies

[edit]

Hey. In the article Radhanath Swami, recently someone has added an 'episode' of his life. I reverted it because I didn't think it was all that relevant to the article, as it covers just a few days of his life. It has just been re-added, so I wanted to revert it again and cite the relevent policy. However I don't know what that policy is. Please if you could inform me it would be of great benefit! Thanks Dwayne Kirkwood 21:41, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Would it have been unkind of me to point out to the new user that GOD does not meet Wikipedia's standards as a Reliable Source? I guess. I'm not going to jump back into that debate. Fan-1967 02:36, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You can borrow my ten-foot pole, if you'd like.  ;-) Can't sleep, clown will eat me 02:39, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Need to go metric. Maybe a ten-meter pole might be long enough. Fan-1967 02:41, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

When you remove invalid license tags, as you did here, please add a {{subst:nld}} as well (or {{subst:nsd}}) if the uploader didn't specify the source either). Thanks! Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh 01:18, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Kimchi.sg, aren't the bots handling these automatically now? I was under the impression that they were, but I appear to be mistaken. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 01:23, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OrphanBot checks only newly-uploaded images. So humans will still be needed. :) Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh 03:22, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
