Jabari Parker's high school career

You just G4ed Jabari Parker's high school career. The AFD and DRV were for a 49 KB version. I trimmed it down to 33 KB, so it is not a recreation. It is a streamlined version that must be AFDed for deletion.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 00:56, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Note G4 says "This excludes pages that are not substantially identical to the deleted version, pages to which the reason for the deletion no longer applies, and content moved to user space for explicit improvement (but not simply to circumvent Wikipedia's deletion policy)."--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 01:02, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
From the original AfD, it appeared that the issue with the article was not its length or its content per se, but that it was unnecessary to begin with, and that (some of) the information should be in his main article rather than a separate one. ... discospinster talk 03:14, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
This is a greatly revised article and the commentary on the prior version is likely not relevant on the current version of the article, which is why G4 says it is not to be used on greatly revised articles. I believe an AFD would yield a very different result in this case. There were many types of arguments in the AFD. Some were that the article notable as presented, some were that it was unnecessary, some were that it was overly detailed. This is a completely different article. Given my track record with recreating formerly deleted articles (12 current WP:GAs as you can see in my talk page header), I think I am entitled to the benefit of the doubt and at least a full AFD reconsideration. Also note that some of the arguments that it was unnecessary were made before the main article was trimmed down and when there were greater redundancies.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 04:16, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Fair enough, I will restore the article. ... discospinster talk 13:20, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Please explain why you assume that Ukraine was dominated by Polish Commonweal

Please explain why you make such assumption. It is offensive and not objective. Simple you looking for support statement that Ukraine needed to fight for independence. Femen/Euromaidan/Odessa

Since you did not like the FEMEN update I first did, I have clarified it further by adding a link to a post where a Femen leader states that Ukrainian Femen activists still work with Maidan. And I clarified that there is no direct evident that Femen actually participated, even though Ievgeniia Kraizman posted a photo of herself in front of a fire that day.

Strong keep - Dr. PremRaj Pushpakaran's profile

Strong keep - Dr. PremRaj Pushpakaran's profile is highly notable in India. India is already hideously under-represented in WikiBios. Such articles should be encouraged. Dr. PremRaj Pushpakaran, despite heading some of the most famous US universities like Harvard, had a distinguished academic career as teacher and scientist. True notable people like him always seem to be left out on Wiki! because the person has received significant coverage in reliable sources as a philanthropist; hence the topic passes for publishing.

The article on Dr. PremRaj Pushpakaran was an entirely bad faith move on the nominator's part that was meant to influence the outcome of this AfD and they should be severely trouted if not taken to ANI for such surreptitious actions. The subject is clearly notable from the sources listed above. Even when WP:ATA arguments are discounted, there's still no consensus to exclude the article.

The sources as references, which I've checked, are more than enough to rescue the article. Individual claims are a matter of normal editing. The sources provided can be briefly quoted if more is needed.I urge very strongly to keep the article . As a person of article, he has already earned enough to be in the pages of Wikipedia by now. Remember, Wikipedia is not a pulp newspaper that keeps deleting or 'forgetting' articles as someone just feels like. Those who want to recommend this page to be deleted have neither a vision about Wikipedia nor an idea about the very reasons why the page should be there. It is not because the person has become a 'superstar human being' or an eternal soul, but due to the very viral NOTABILITY he aquired (and continues to aquire) through his calibre. He has singlehandedly strived, succeeded and proved that it is possible to contemplate and execute such research projects for humanity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.241.56.184 (talkcontribs)

He does not appear to be notable by Wikipedia's criteria. See WP:N for guidelines. ... discospinster talk 15:28, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

In googling his given name, you may not find anything related to his music; in googling Ninth Parallel along with the names of his works, you'll see numerous large-time U.S. and non-U.S. blogs writing pieces on him as well as large YouTube channels raving about his music. Tasty Network is a Latvian channel with over three hundred thousand worldwide subscribers. The same goes for Epic Network Records, with a little over three hundred and seventy thousand worldwide subscribers, based in Lithuania. The list goes on. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.205.68.31 (talk) 18:46, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

First, blogs and YouTube are not reliable sources for purposes of notability. electronin dance music

EDM is an acronym for electronic dance music. It is a term that is used by all major media outlets on the planet when describing all dj music. It is a meta genre. Musical Key Vandal

Hello Discospinster,

Thanks for helping me stop this persistent, habitual vandal who anonymously removes or destroys content mainly in the musical key articles in the contemporary song sections. Recent example:

Do you have any ideas on how to stop this?

These IP socks are a real problem: the changes are superficially plausible, so human and bot patrollers are prone to miss them. Further, the target articles are often unsourced, requiring one to google the right answer. The most recent case: just after being blocked, the vandal is back at List of songs about Toronto. Due to the frequent IP hopping, there was vandalism in that article that was present for months. And there are so many articles affected. I noticed Prosecreator gathered some IPs, though that is just a smidgen of them. Because the IPs are so diverse, range-blocking probably isn't an option. vzaak 14:17, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

Deletion, Alcatrazz

I understand why you deleted my post, Howie "Dickhead" Simon. The truth is, he is an asshole who is pretending to be part of a legacy band and the original band members are not happy. Lamprell History

Hi Discospinster,

Thank you for updating the Lamprell page on Wikipedia. It has been indeed very informative. The history section however, I believed is dated. I have tried to copy the texts from the history page of our own website www.lamprell.com to update it but later it just went back to the original texts. I have tried to ask help from our IT department to put the latest information about the Lamprell history, the same thing happened. After a few minutes, the information that was put in there was replaced with the old texts.

Would you help us how we can update the history part of the Lamprell Wikipedia? If you are the only one authorised to do it, we would like to give you the texts to put in the history section. Do you have number of word limitations in the history section? Please let us know as our internal auditors have subjected this Wikipage in their findings. We in Lamprell Corporate Communications need to address this.

Your response will be highly appreciated. You may email your response to Communications@lamprell.com or to sfrancisco@lamprell.com. Thank you very much. 83.110.103.62 (talk) 12:12, 18 June 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.110.103.62 (talk) 09:07, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Anyone can update the article, but you have to make sure that you are not using copyrighted content without permission. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for instructions on how to allow the material to be used on Wikipedia (via the terms of the public licences CC-BY-SA and GFDL). It is probably better to just write it from scratch, since content from an organization's web page tends not to be neutral as Wikipedia requires. ... discospinster talk 13:33, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

I understand but the contents that we have put in the Lamprell Wiki History came from the official Lamprell website. We are also the source of those information since we are from Lamprell. Does the page have any limitation as to number of words? Additionally, we have just updated our website which is why we want the same to reflect on Wiki and this is a requirement by our auditors and our Quality Department. 83.110.107.189 (talk) 09:04, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

I get that you want the information to be accurate, but as I mentioned, we can't accept excessive content copied from other web pages. We have no way of knowing outright that a particular Wikipedia editor has permission to copy the content; that's why there is a procedure to license the content (Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials). I would suggest just re-writing it in your own words. ... discospinster talk 11:42, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

I note that you have added back a list of notable players to this article. I have removed them again as the inclusion criteria provided to my my mind in no way satisfy the requirements of the Manual of Style. There are two major problems with the list. Firstly and most importantly, this statement: or made significant contributions to the sport either before or after playing for the team in no way fulfills the requirement of the manual of style that clearly states that any editor considering adding a player to such a list, or excising one, should be able to make such a decision on the basis of verifiable fact, not opinion or whim. The notion of "significant contributions" is inherently subjective and there contravenes the manual of style.

Secondly, there are a number of players on the list who either do not have an enwiki article or have no wiki article at all. This creates an inherent contradiction that editors are calling them out as particularly notable, yet no one has bothered creating an english language article for them.

By all means have a list, but please ensure that only those players with 5 years service / 100 apps / 50 goals or intl caps are on the list, and that, if references are not provided in the club article, that all players claims to notability can be verified at least in their own WP article.

Finally, I am sure your four reverts in six minutes was an oversight on your part and you do not need to refresh your knowledge of WP:3RR. Fenix down (talk) 09:12, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Hello. Whether or not the list satisfies some sort of criteria is not the reason I reverted its removal. User:Artssadr was blanking the list with no explanation, either in the edit summary, the talk page, or elsewhere. And I am familiar with 3RR policy, thank you, particularly WP:3RRNO, which states that it does not apply to "Reverting obvious vandalism—edits that any well-intentioned user would agree constitute vandalism, such as page blanking and adding offensive language." Taking into consideration that an entire section was being blanked with no reasoning, combined with other edits such as this one, I consider my actions justified. ... discospinster talk 11:38, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Honest mistake on your part I think

Hi Discospinster. You reverted a lot of changes I made yesterday, under the soapboxing/advertising. You're right in observing that my changes favored a particular source. But my changes are neither soapboxing or advertising. They are all genuine, bona fide updates. The sources I cited have all been updated within the past few months, and will be consistently updated in the future. You reverted to references from out-of-date sources, some more than 15 years old. Having written a complete wine encyclopedia of 5000+ entries, I can assure you that my changes were genuine improvements and updates. They were neither soapboxing nor advertising. I wasn't logged in as myself, so the changes appear under my IP address. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:121.98.113.22&redirect=no . I imagine this mistake on my part contributed to your suspicions. I respect your reasons for suspecting soapboxing/advertising, but they are mistaken in this case. I'd be grateful if you'd restore my changes. 121.98.113.22 (talk) 22:28, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Your edits removed content and other sources and replaced them with your own. The impression that gives is one of advertisement and promotion. I understand that you believe they are improvements, but adding links to the same web site to many different articles is frowned upon. One or two articles is understandable ... discospinster talk 00:53, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Update of Hueneme High School notable alumni

Please add under notable alumni Scotty Morris Founder and lead singer of band named Big Bad Voodoo Daddy Scotty Morris graduated from Hueneme High School in 1984

I would not know the source other than I was in band with him and he is in the high school yearbook and I saw him graduate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.228.216.35 (talk) 22:30, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Sourcing Journal editor

Hi Discospinster. I saw section above, which reminded me of a different user. I'm not sure what, if any, action is appropriate. Her/his contributions have primarily focused on adding Sourcing Journal, except three times adding 1-800-translate.com and one other exception. Back in May, I reverted the edits from May 20 & earlier because all of the 'references' were malformed. However, I did not know what to do with edits May 21 & forward. User clearly cared only to add Sourcing Journal - a source that I find in en.wiki one time outside of this user's contribs. Looking globally, user has tried to add Sourcing Journal to de.wiki (was rejected) and added 1-800-translate.com in Wiktionary and Wikimedia. Not sure how this should be handled. Thanks, Kirin13 (talk) 03:28, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

I stand corrected on the 'one exception' - it's actually a 'cleverly' disguised advertisement for 1-800-translate. Kirin13 (talk) 03:37, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
I've left a message on the user's talk page and will keep an eye on the edits. Thanks for letting me know. ... discospinster talk 03:41, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Must ask you to stop promoting rogue softare

You are allowing harmful content to be published on Wikipedia, including links to rogue software. By doing this you are potentially causing a lot of users harm. It is requested that you refrain from making malicious edits to content, especially since you are in no way qualified to discuss cybersecurity topics. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BloodyCrip (talkcontribs) 04:08, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

I've been a naughty boy

Hi there - fair play I've been doing wrong things badly. I apologise.

However in my edits I only shared truths.

So how is that meant to work? I don't have police evidence...

Anyway, sorry to bother you. I'm not a vandal, I only seek to share the truth I've found.

Best wishes <xx.xx.xx.xx> I've no idea who I am — Preceding unsigned comment added by Honestmarketing (talkcontribs) 04:43, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Katadata Page

Dear Sir,

You are deleting Katadata Page in wikipedia. Katadata is independen media about economic and business that we built in Indonesia. Because our independency we have got support from mdif. You can see our profile on http://www.mdif.org/our-portfolio/dnv-portfolio/.

I tried to edit katadata article on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Ade_Wahyudi . Can you restore our page.

Best regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ade Wahyudi (talkcontribs) 07:28, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

The original page was in Indonesian and did not contain anything that showed the company was notable by Wikipedia's criteria. So to restore the page would not be helpful. You can just copy what is in your user page to the Katadata page. But you should also change the wording a bit, because it is written in a way that looks like advertising, when it should be written in a neutral way. ... discospinster talk 11:58, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Deleted photo on Chachi Gonzales article.

I would like to know why the photo I used on Chachi Gonzales's page was deleted. Did I do something wrong? Can you add a photo of her that is okay to use because I don't know which photo is approved. Thank you. Chachi Gonzales — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.134.109.17 (talk) 23:32, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

The photo is presumed to be copyrighted, so Wikipedia would have to have permission to use it -- see WP:PERMISSION. Or it would have to be justified under the fair use exception -- see WP:FAIRUSE. ... discospinster talk 23:37, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

I provided a source to my edit. You delete in nonetheless..trying to silence sourced edits are we? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.231.17.181 (talk) 03:20, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

hah. who are we kidding there? it is a pariah state, except it will bomb you if you speak out in the global community against its genocides..

One person's letter to the editor is not exactly sufficient to add the U.S. to the article. ... discospinster talk 03:27, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for interrupt, there's a huge objection on talk page for adding "pop" genre in the infobox. Allmusic reviewer says an alternative rock album, however, he added "comes off as pop". I think "pop" that means a style or a hook, not an actual proper genre. 183.171.166.30 (talk) 02:42, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

There seems to be a lot going on in that discussion, so I don't know if I could add anything. Perhaps there should be an attempt to reach consensus, more like a WP:Request for comment? At least that way it will be more clear who thinks what. ... discospinster talk 12:49, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
