Josh Charles

[edit]

I've reverted your multiple changes of "Josh Charles" to "Joshua Charles" based on Wikipedia Common Names policy. The policy reads in part,

The most common name for a subject, as determined by its prevalence in reliable English-language sources, is often used as a title because it is recognizable and natural.

That's why, in the examples given there, articles are tilted Bill Clinton and Lady Gaga, not "William Jefferson Clinton" and "Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta". In this case, "Josh Charles" is clearly the most common name used for the actor despite his birth name being Joshua.

Please take a look at the articles suggested in the Welcome section above. I think you'll find them very useful. -- Pemilligan (talk) 19:02, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add or change content, as you did to List of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes, without verifying it by citing a reliable source. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (season 15), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Michael Smith (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Problems with upload of File:Mind Blowin'.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mind Blowin'.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:05, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You are changing dates for the Region 1 DVD releases for DVDs that have been released for over nine years. There are sources to confirm these 2002 and 2004 release dates. For both the first and second seasons, you kept the sources but just changed the access date, when the sources says the DVDs were release in 2002 and 2004 respectively. For the fourteenth season, you changed the source to Amazon UK, which would shows a Region 2 release and not a Region 1 release. As for the color changes, they have been that way for a while and you need to be able to explain why you changed the colors, otherwise it makes because you like your color choices better and then you seem to be WP:OWNing the article when someone tries to change it back to the previous coloring because you made no argument why it should change.

In regards to your editing in general. You need to start using Help:Edit summaries so you can explain to other editors why you made your edits. When you hit the "Undo" button it states "If you are undoing an edit that is not vandalism, explain the reason in the edit summary. Do not use the default message only." Since you did not use an edit summary, you said my edit was WP:Vandalism and me in turn a vandal. Most editors would not appreciate being called a vandal and some would consider it a WP:Personal attack. Lastly, you should read though WP:BRD in that after you make a BOLD edit and then get reverted, you need to start a discussion so a consensus can be reached, instead of blindly reverting back to your preferred version. Now that a discussion has been started here, please discuss and do not make another reversion until a consensus is reached. Aspects (talk) 20:25, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry but did not read what I had written or did you read it and then completely ignore what I wrote and go on a revert rampage? Now that a discussion has been started you NEED to discuss your edits here instead of continually reverting. This reversion you made, [1], changed back to non-U.S. dates that all of the other Law & Order seasons have. This reversion you made, [2], added back a redlink to an image that was deleted from WikiCommons. You reverted another editor, [3], who fixed the redlinks to have them link to the correct articles. These three reversions pretty much confirm in my opinion that you are blindly reverting instead of taking into account the edits themselves. If you could come up with a reasonable argument for why you changed the colors, I could accept that, but the fact that you are changing dates without reliable sources, changing date formats and link changes just because someone else made them are unacceptable. If you continue to edit war, you risk being blocked from editing. Aspects (talk) 01:25, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing, as you did at List of Law & Order episodes. Your edits have been reverted or removed.

Do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively may result in your being blocked from editing. When you revert an edit that isn't vandalism, it is common courtesy to provide an explanation for doing so. By leaving the summary field blank and refusing to discuss the issue, you are now becoming disruptive, and if this continues then administrator intervention may become necessary. Your use of multiple Wikipedia accounts

[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Dk113040, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Davejohnsan (talk) 16:35, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

And just so you know, this isn't anything personal. If it turns out conclusively that there isn't any sockpuppeteering going on, I'll be the first to apologize to you for the error in judgment. Considering our recent history, I just wanted to let you know that I'm not out to get you or anything like that. Davejohnsan (talk) 16:37, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No need to apologize, checkuser has confirmed that deceptive sockpuppetry was occurring. As result, I've issued a one-week block to this account. Mark Arsten (talk) 23:53, 15 January 2014 (UTC) I won't do it again![reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

your reason here Listen, I admit it. Sadly, I want to apologize. Please, forgive me for vandalizing articles on the Wikipedia, and I promise I will not ever create no more multiple accounts for any upcoming tricks of my own, as of now, Dk113040 is my only account I have from now on, I should be ashamed of myself. But one more thing, I need to know how to delete another account. And I promise I'll never ever create any multiple accounts on the Wikipedia again, please forgive me, and I'm sorry for everything. Thank You.

Decline reason:

Given that your Grove4Life account was used to perpetuate disruption after this account received a final warning, you're due a block for disruptive editing even if the sockpuppetry issue is resolved. Frankly, Mark's one week block is extremely generous; I suggest you wait it out and use the time to consider how you might contribute constructively to the encyclopedia instead. Yunshui  08:58, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Episode titles

[edit]

Please do not change episode titles without explanation, especially when your changes are contradicted by multiple reliable sources and the episode themselves. None of the changes that you made to NCIS articles today were appropriate as they are not supported by the episodes of multiple reliable sources. --AussieLegend () 09:53, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Dk. Given our past history, I hope you don't mind my adding a comment here even though I'm not involved this time.
Please remember that your block wasn't just because of the sockpuppet account; it's because you were disruptively editing as well. You can't contribute to Wikipedia expecting that no one will ever disagree with an edit you make or revert one of your changes. This is going to happen no matter how much experience you have with the site's policies or how much seniority you have under your belt.
When you were blocked, you mentioned in your appeal your regret for "vandalizing Wikipedia." That was not an accurate description of what had happened; you appeared to be editing with good intentions, but the problem was that you refused to discuss the changes you made when several editors, including me, reverted them with explanations left both in our edit summaries and on your talk page.
You just came off your block, but you haven't fallen back into this behavior - yet. If you don't want a repeat block, then please have a discussion with AussieLegend here regarding the title changes you made on the NCIS pages. Davejohnsan (talk) 18:17, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
And amazingly, you've just done exactly what Davejohnsan has described at Criminal Minds (season 8).[4] I explained the issue in my edit summary but you simply reverted without any explanation. At the very least you need to explain your edits in an edit summary. --AussieLegend () 02:34, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Episode part numbers

[edit]

If part numbers were not part of the episode title, as is the case at Criminal Minds (season 8), the part number should not be in the |Title= field. Insead, it should be in the |RTitle= field. Only the actual episode title should be in the |Title= field. Speedy deletion nomination of multiple files that you have uploaded

Tags have been placed on the following files requesting that they be speedily deleted from Wikipedia:

This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the images appear to be blatant copyright infringements. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. [edit]

You've been told that "a & b & c" is wrong but you've chosen to continue using this method of listing writers and directors at Law & Order (season 20),[10] immediately after an edit explaining that this was wrong. This is not the first time that this sort of thing has happened. You were told not to use {{imdbname}} outside the external links section but continued to do so. You claim not to be editing disruptively but when you're told something and choose to ignore it without acknowledging what you've been told, it certainly appears that you are deliberately being disruptive. --AussieLegend () 06:46, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dk - just a quick note from the deleting admin here. :) I really appreciate all the work you do for Wikipedia (after all, we're all volunteers), but images that are copyrighted, like DVD covers, have to be deleted unless their being used in an article and have a fair use rationale, to prevent the Wikimedia Foundation being at risk of legal action from copyright holders. If you do want to the image in an article and think it satisfies WP:NFCC, then leave a message on my talkpage and I'll be more than happy to undelete it for you. Thank-you. Thanks for uploading File:Law & Order - The Fourteenth Year.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Law & Order - Season 14.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Law & Order - Season 14.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. AussieLegend () 19:07, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading images with invalid fair use rationales

[edit]

Please stop uploading images with clearly invalid fair use rationales (FUR). You've recently uploaded identical images (which is inappropriate in itself) with the same, or similar invalid FURs. These images were File:Law & Order - The Fourteenth Year.jpg and File:Law & Order - Season 14.jpg. I've identified the problems with these files in the deletion nominations and removed the more blatantly incorrect information and yet today you have uploaded File:L&OSeason14DVD.jpg with EXACTLY the same problems. You are not the author, the author is whoever created the original file that you've copied from Amazon. {{Non-free with permission}} is an inappropriate template as there is no evidence that the author has given permission for use of the file. Several of the fields in the FUR template are not filled out properly. By my count, to date you've uploaded 46 files here and at commons that were either copyright violations or had defective FURs. It really is time to start learning. For a start, don't upload yet another version of the same image. Instead, fix the FUR on one of them. Have a look at some other files and see how the FUR is filled out properly. You can use File:L&O DVDCoverSeason14.jpg, the file you keep trying to replace, as an example. --AussieLegend () 09:14, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:L&OSeason14DVD.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Accessdate

[edit]

In citations, |accessdate= is, as the name implies, the date that you accessed the source. At List of Criminal Minds episodes you added a citation on February 11, 2014,[13] so that should be the accessdate, not September 4, 2013,[14] which appears to be a random date. --AussieLegend () 17:46, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:L&O - Season 14.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:L&O - Season 14.jpg.

Thank you. AussieLegend () 14:11, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading images with invalid fair use rationales again!

[edit]

as I have indicated above, you need to stop uploading images with invalid FURs. You are NOT the author of files that you have clearly copied from other websites and use of "n.a." in fields of the FUR template is inappropriate. All fields must be filled out correctly and I've given you an example of a properely filled out FUR above so you should have no issues doing this. There is no excuse for the FUR that you have included with File:L&O - Season 14.jpg. You do not need to upload multiple copies of the same file in order to fix your errors. just fix the first file. This really is beyond a joke now. --AussieLegend () 14:21, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. This is the last straw!

[edit]

Really, your edits have gotten beyond a joke. The title shown in the episode was Blye, K., Part 2 NOT Blye, K. (Part II) so moving it does NOT make sense, perfect or otherwise. On a related note, the episode prior to that was simply called "Blye, K.". It did not have a part number and this is noted in the article, yet you completely ignored it and added your own part number.[15] You cannot do that. We only use the actual episode names, not the name that you think it should be. When date ranges begin and end in the same year, for example January 2 – May 21, 2008, that is how it's supposed to be written, not as January 2, 2008 – May 21, 2008, which is why {{dts}} is used and why this edit was inappropriate. When an article contains direct links to an article, don't change them to point to redirects as you did here, here and then again here, even after I warned against it with this edit. If you can't edit without making such a large number of errors that other editors have to waste hours fixing your mistakes, perhaps you should consider other interests. --AussieLegend () 12:14, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've warned you numerous times about uploading images. A tag has been placed on File:Law & Order - The Fourteenth Year.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. When you make an edit that isn't minor or may be disputed, or when you revert another edit that isn't clear-cut vandalism, it's common courtesy and almost obligatory to leave an explanation in the edit summary field. Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at List of Person of Interest episodes. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Favre1fan93 (talk) 01:17, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at List of Person of Interest episodes shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. American Gothic (TV series)

[edit]

List of American Gothic episodes is a redirect to American Gothic (TV series)#Episodes and therefore, this edit was pointless and, at best, unconstructive. Please pay attention to edit histories and check that your edits are positive. You have been editing now for over a year and yet are still making edits that we tolerate from new users. I continue to have grave concerns about your competency to edit based on your edit history. --AussieLegend () 04:26, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

P.S. Normally I wouldn't use a generic warning template with you, but you really should know better by now. Don't change the episode title unless you have some concrete proof that it's been listed incorrectly all this time. Davejohnsan (talk) 22:29, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, The good wife (season 6)

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, The good wife (season 6). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – The Good Wife (season 6). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at The Good Wife (season 6) – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. BiH (talk) 06:23, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed your recent edit to List of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes does not have an edit summary. Please use them, otherwise your edits will simply be reverted.

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! —MelbourneStartalk 07:31, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • You continuously edit articles without explaining your edits. It's getting so tedious, that if you continue to do so, I'll be more than happy to take it up at WP:ANI. Use them please, they're there for a very good reason. —MelbourneStartalk 07:56, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Season articles

[edit]

We don't create season articles until there are episodes actually scheduled to air in the next season. This is usually around August-September. The only exception to this is when there is sufficient, sourced non-episodic content to justify creation of an entire season article. Cast lists are NOT regarded as sufficient content. --AussieLegend () 08:45, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
