I also noticed that the {{architecture}} tag can be completely removed from all Image talk: pages, in any and all of the importance categories (FA, A, GA, B, Stub, unassessed and NA) Refer to: Category:Architecture articles by importance. Featured portal candidate

The portal's currently up as a featured portal candidate. It's been generally well received but some input would be appreciated regarding the news section. The comments have been that a news section should reflect current events, as the section is not updated massively regularly, the reviewers feel it's not really reflecting current events. I've argued that architectural news is rather scant and suggested renaming the section to something like "Architecture in 2006-2007" but I'm not sure they'll go for this. Other suggestions include a "Architecture in this month" section. What should we do? I've opened a debate thread here --Mcginnly | Natter 01:24, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

On another tack - did you see the thread at the WP:FPCAN page about automatic rotation of the selected articles and images - I think the idea is we cue up pages in advance of the rotation (at our leisure) and a bot does the rotation. Article on William Burges

Dear Dogears

Thank you very much for have wikified my addtions to the Burges article. I am afraid I am a wikipedia novice and don't really know how lay out the page, select appropriate headings etc.

You may be able to answer another question. I have some photos of Burges buildings I would like to place on the page. The main ones are some of Castle Coch that I took at Christmas this year. Can you point me in the direction of instructions for adding photos? Any help would be most appreciated.

Thank you very much for your encouragement and advice. I am sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

I have been a fan of Burges since I was about 14 years old and living in South Wales, but Wikipedia was a very recent discovery. Saw that the Burges article was not very full and thought I could add a little. Shall now concentrate on burnishing and improving the article and later will try and add some of the photos I have taken of Burges' work over the last 25 years.

You're a gen-u-ine dog-gorn genius my friend (best southern drawl)- the code on that link went whistling over my head like a farting hamster. Sure thing I'll format the weekly articles - adding a link and a plea to the bulletin for the selected features seems a good idea although if we don't see more interest pretty soon I'm inclined to spend an hour or two and load the thing up for six months or so. I wonder though if we're not better off keeping them all in the same article page for now - a substle renaming to Timelines of architectural styles would do the trick and we can keep the massive global overview idea you had originally, but separate it neatly into various section headers. Help?

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me in my detailing assignments; I would be very grateful if you would be able to that; because its very confusing where to exactly section the assignment, and because the instructor doesn't bother to explain how to do it. Also its in 2D if you know what I mean. I am having a really hard time. This course is part-time, i.e. in the evenings, and it goes very fast; It started on Jan 9, 2007 to Feb 15, 2007, Tuesday, Thursday 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

Apparantly now I have just 1 week to do tons of assignments which I cannot understand; and I don't have any friends to ask for help.

And now I also need to prepare for the final exams which is divided in 2 parts one on tuesday and the other part on thursday. Thanks for your contributions and assessment. They increased the readability of the article. I wouldn't be surprised if this article is the most comprehensive biography available at this moment, as almost nothing is known about this important architect (or should I say 'master of works' ?). As far as I know there are no books or websites dedicated uniquely to this man. I'm afraid your rating "start" won't be upgraded soon to B or A, unless one adds a lot of discussions about his artistic works. But such discussions would hardly be objective, thus violating NPOV. NRHP - Frank Lloyd Wright

In the next couple weeks I am planning to expand the Wiki's coverage of Frank Lloyd Wright building's, especially with the concentration in Oak Park, Illinois. I would be willing to help expand Auldbrass Plantation as part of that personal project. If you are interested in helping inquire on my talk page. There are 100s of buildings by Frank Lloyd Wright and affiliated architects in the Chicagoland area, so this would be an amazing chance to really up the ante, so to speak, concerning Wikipedia and Frank Lloyd Wright. Sounds like a great project/collaboration that can get a lot of people interested. The Library of Congress - American Memory database has hundreds of images and detailed data pages together on one page specifically for FLW. See the following links:

Awesome links. I think this will be pretty awesome. My first tasks are as follows, which anyone can help with.
  • Stubs - Individual buildings within the districts. Several are individually listed, and need articles. Most are not listed alone and are contributing properties to historic districts.
  • Photos: All of the articles that are stubbed as part of this district I can supply original photos for in the next couple weeks, those combined with whatever we pull from HABS (any design drawings would be really cool for a Commons gallery, as well as the historic photos) can be uploaded to Commons for galleries.
  • Photos: Speaking of Commons, we should go ahead and try to organize the FLW cats on Commons by buildings, at least if they aren't already, I looked at briefly, seems like they could use some cleanup.
  • Expansion: The stubs are just the first part, the articles can be expanded through various sources, HABS usually has some documentation. For sites in Illinois the HAARGIS database is awesome (lucky us since so many Wright buildings are in Illinois.

Anyone who has similar task lists should post them, is there enough interest to merit a division either in NRHP or Archtecture projects?

New architecture article bot

Hi - thanks for the kind words. I'm quite happy to have the feed from the bottom going anywhere, so long as it is visible enough that interested editors can find it. The original output is at User:AlexNewArtBot/ArchitectureSearchResult, so that can be transcluded anywhere people want it to go. The bot searches for articles daily, so redlinks and redirects were articles at the time. There's no way to prevent them being listed, but there's no harm in removing them from the list. I've added the bot list as a transclusion to the new article announcement - Ultimately, with some refinement, in theory (I've got caveatitis today and the ointment doesn't seem to be working) people won't need to manually add to the list so it makes sense to pop it in at the top and let people for now add what they want beneath. Hi Dogears,

Just a comment about your edits to The National Art Center, Tokyo. Apparently, you copied and pasted the contents to National Art Center, Tokyo. When you do this, the edit history gets lost. That's not allowed under Wikipedia policy. Instead, you should use the Move button to rename an article. Using the Move button keeps the edit history together with the article, in accordance with the GFDL (the license Wikipedia uses). As a result, it will be necessary to undo the copy and paste. I have no objection to the new title, and if you wish to retitle the article in accordance with Wikipedia policy, there's no problem in doing so. However, it is no longer possible to use the move button, so a move request is necessary. Please feel free to do a move request if you want to change the title.

Hello Dogears, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Smokey-the-bear-matchcover.png) was found at the following location: User:Dogears/*Image gallery. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. NRHP vs Architecture

I am sorry if I have overstepped my bounds. Most projects consider it helpful to have related work tagged for them. I am very curious on what types of NRHP properties are not worthy as Architecture articles. However, if many are then I have sourely gone too far because many of my contributions have been non-NRHP Chicago Landmark structures. I will refrain from any contributions or accept further guidance. I don't really think 6000 should have much to do with your instructions. At WP:WPChi, we have about 10K and would not have a problem with doubling that with articles within the scope of the project. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria.
