Your RfA
[edit]All due respect, but I advise you to withdraw your RfA before you get hammered with opposition. RfAs hurt a lot of editors, don't let that happen to you. It's okay if you're not ready, you're still a valuable editor and when you get more experience you can try again. Best — MusikAnimal talk 16:18, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- I think I would rather withdraw my nomination, as the community feels I am not yet ready. Should I wait a day or do it now? Thanks for the advice, MusikAnimal :) EthicallyYours! 16:20, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- I'm sorry I did not see your second edit here where you asked when to withdraw. I saw the first, so I closed the RfA for you. Please confirm this was okay... — MusikAnimal talk 16:32, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- Well. I see a lot of opposition votes piling on, and probably I am not that good an editor. Therefore, I believe you've taken the right decision. Wikipedia is a good place anyways. EthicallyYours! 16:34, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah... the English Wikipedia RfA can be brutal. There have been RfAs in the past few months that resulted in the candidates leaving the project altogether. Just didn't want that to happen to you! And yes, you are an perfectly competent editor, you just need more experience under your belt before requesting adminship. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Trust me, being an admin isn't that great anyway :) — MusikAnimal talk 16:37, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- Saw your message on my talk page. No need to write there, I'm watching this page. I am happy to mentor you, to some degree anyway. I'm very busy, but I'll see what I can do. My biggest advice is to get more involved with content work. After all, that's what we're all about, an encyclopedia. What type of topics interest you? You can edit about anything, your favourite band, movie, etc. Check out all the WikiProjects. — MusikAnimal talk 16:46, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

(edit conflict × 2)Sorry about how your RfA turned out. I was seriously thinking about supporting you. In my opinion, it's something else how !voters commonly complain about candidates not having enough experience in content creation ("must have at least 2 GAs, although an FA is preferable...(insert rant here)"), but when a user who does have content creation experience tries to become an admin, they're shot down for some other reason. --Biblioworm 16:48, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- I follow cricket a lot. I found a WikiProject Cricket. So I might dive into that? Do I have any need for "registering"? Biblio, it feels nice to have someone appreciate the work, and you're that good soul. Thanks mate. On a side note, I feel that Kudpung's comment is also appreciable, and he has brought some important things into focus. Thank you Kudpung for that. Biblio, your cheerful attitude pleases me and I like people have such attitude. MusikAnimal is a great guy as well, and BethNaught was also equally good. I look forward to what the future holds for me as a Wikipedian. EthicallyYours! 16:55, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- I love your attitude! Wikipedia is all about having fun. Plenty of cricket-related things to work on. You don't need to register or anything, the WikiProject is just a centralized place for like-minded people such as yourself to discuss how to improve cricket-related articles across the project. You are of course free to edit whatever article you want, but the WikiProject should indicate which articles need more attention. Look for the "assessment" section in Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket to see what needs to be done. Again, if something seems boring or you'd rather work on a different article, do it! Don't hold yourself down to anything. Everything is volunteer work and it's supposed to be fun. — MusikAnimal talk 17:00, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

- Hi, I wanted to sincerely apologize for my comment n your RFA - I try to be honest but at times I can come across rather harsh which is never my intention,
- You've contributed alot here and we all appreciate it :)

- (edit conflict) Ya know, Ethically, there's a lot to be learned from an RfA like yours. Put one way, if you ignore the little red 'Don't walk' light and walk across the road without looking, you don't be suprised if you get hit by a truck. It will hurt, but you'll get over it, and you'll learn to heed warnings and take advice in the future. And some of that advice does come best as a short sharp kneejerk. I know, because I was teaching classroom management to student teachers for 20 years. That said, on Wikipedia we do however use kneejerks very sparingly and its nothing to the punches you'll take if and when you do finally get the mop and use it. AFAICS there's actually nothing wrong with your editing, but there is just nowhere near enough of it to demonstrate that you have a sound knowledge of our policies and guidelines. Whether you take 3 months or three years, double your number of edits - in the same proportions of namespaces - don't make more than 5% errors of judgement at AfD, and try not to make any at all with CSD. Participate intelligently in discussions without it looking as if you are working towards adminship (which means keeping a relatively low profile in the drama boards), and choose one of the various 'help' noticeboards and start giving advice to others - looking up the answers to give to give to others is one of the fastest ways of learning stuff yourself. And last but not least, if ever you need any help or advice don't hesitate to come to my talk page; a quick look there will show that I do enjoy helping others, and (usually) in the nicest way possible. And read WP:Advice for RfA candidates first - I wrote it ;) Happy editing! --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 17:00, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- Actually, you are a very good editor: articulate, kind and friendly, and obviously Here to build an encyclopedia. Please don't take today too badly. I would have opposed this time, but I expect to be able to support you when you have some more experience. What I was looking for in Q7 was three things: first, to advise the editor about WP:CIRCULAR; second (because he's a beginner) to advise him to use AfC when creating new articles, so as to get the reviewers' help before making the article live; third, to mention that the CSD tagger was too hasty, as he tagged it less than a minute from creation. I sympathise with your concern that an early deletion may upset a new editor, but the needs of the encyclopedia come first. The way to avoid the hurt is to use AFC and get the help. Your template {{Vandal-rc}} wouldn't have helped here, since the article creator isn't a vandal. I hope these comments will help you, and once again, please don't be discouraged, as you are still a very good editor. Kind regards, --Stfg (talk) 17:14, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, ReferenceBot (talk) 00:21, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Hey there. I see you have nominated the article for GA. I would very much like to do a GA review on this film. Before that, I would like you to get it copyedited. You can ask one of my friends, Onel5969 to do a c/e. — Ssven2 speak 2 me 14:59, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Ssven2, I have asked Onel to kindly copy-edit if possible. Do tell me if you have any other concerns. EthicallyYours! 17:25, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- As a start, can you empty the references from the lead section as per WP:LEAD and write them in the article sections. For example, "According to Box Office India, Chennai Express currently ranks as the third highest-grossing Bollywood film worldwide and fourth in India.[15]" can be written in the box office section. — Ssven2 speak 2 me 17:33, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Ssven2:, if you do not mind, can you kindly start the review? I'd be reasonably inactive since mid-Feb due to work. EthicallyYours! 07:46, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

Bro, first off, fix all the references as per what I have listed in the review. Then I will add further comments. There seems to be no problem with the prose BTW, just the references mainly. — Ssven2 speak 2 me 04:54, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Incomplete AFD closure
[edit]Hi. You did a non-admin closure on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Samidh mukerjee but missed a couple of steps. I've removed the AFD notice from the article, and recorded the result on the talk page. Cheers. -- Whpq (talk) 05:02, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
- Whpq, thanks a ton for that. Do not know why, but I use the AFD Script for closing such debates which automatically does all that's required. Something might have went wrong. Thanks for informing, though. EthicallyYours! 11:10, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
Undid minor correction on movie called 'Dog Pound'
[edit]Hi. I received a notification that said:
"Hello, I'm Ethically Yours. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Dog Pound (film) because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. EthicallyYours! 16:52, 2 February 2015 (UTC)"
It was a minor change, but the original listing was not correct. It stated that there was an attack with a 'tennis ball racket' (which doesn't really make sense, it was either a ball or a racket), but the attack was in fact made with a ping pong paddle.
I would argue that the change was constructive because it corrected a factually incorrect statement.
Thanks! 98.212.128.198 (talk) 23:45, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
Regarding filemover request---I took up your "you are free to disregard it" statement, and so did the person archiving that request. DYK for Chennai Express

The fact was ... that Chennai Express is the third-highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Chennai Express. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Speedy deletion nomination of Dipankan Bandopadhyay
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Dipankan Bandopadhyay requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. David.moreno72 13:13, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
