Orphaned non-free media (Image:Maggs 03a.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Maggs 03a.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:22, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Julie Umerle article

Hi Freshacconci

Please could you explain to me what happened to my article?

I heard today that it had been saved after discussion had been assessed as 'no consensus' but I just looked for it now, and cant find it. Looks to me like it was speedy deleted without telling me.

I looked on the deletion list and nothing there but cant find the page either? Any ideas?

Btw, I dont have any problems with you nominating it for deletion originally. I recognised that it needed a lot of work, and I appreciate you saying that you wouldnt have any problems either if it could be saved.

Just I thought that it had been saved, and now I find it has not been. And just needed to know why not?

Thanks Vaishal (talk) 21:44, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Thank you

Rock music WikiProject

I'd like to invite you to join the newly-formed Rock music WikiProject. There's alot of Rock-related articles on Wikipedia that could use a little attention, and I hope this project can help organize an effort to improve them. So please, take a look and if you like what you see, help us get this project off the ground and a few Rock music pages into the front ranks of Wikipedia articles. Thanks! --Be Black Hole Sun (talk) 12:31, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

List of contemporary painters

hello Sir " master degree on arts " you don't consider contemporary painters unless they are Americans? what is your problem with painters of other countries? or you are like the S ***** of the American inspectors that they thought that since my nik was Xesko that the article that I wrote about the painter Xesko, was about me? I only wrote the page on him because we have the same name, only for that, nothing more. (forgive my english pls) Xesko (talk) 14:23, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Kindly don't insult another editor (in this case a respected and experienced one who has contributed a lot to the project) just because he has made an edit you disagree with. Re. the amazing coincidence of you being User:Xesko and having the same birthday, occupation, and place of residence as Xesko, as discussed on Talk:Xesko, see WP:DUCK. Ty 00:03, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Ottex

I'm concerned that the editor Ottex has a bee in his bonnet about the collage "Just what is it that makes today's homes" and is making incomprehensible assertions and threats to further damage the article. I've tried to repair the article but I fear for its long-term safety. I note that you've had runins with him in the past and wonder if you have any advice on how to handle the situation. The Christian Corbet page on Wiki is not being maintained by the artist but in fact by myself as President of the Canadian Portrait Academy. The said image that was uploaded on the artist was given permission to me by the said artist. Abstract Art

I am starting to translate italian wiki on historical abstract painters in english. Thank you for helping me to remember to put references. Most of the names I will refer to are very famous in Italy, I will consider only historical names and there are a lot of books to refer to. It is more difficult to find proper english text. I will do my best. Let me know if the references I have chosen suits the standards.

Hi! As this article is not about a person, but about a type of art, it is not eligible for {{db-bio}}. :-) Stwalkerstertalk ] 21:53, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Rolando Gomez

In the future, I strongly suggest that you limit your comments about me to my opinions or syntax or something that you might actually be knowledgeable about. In the Rolando Gomez discussions, you refer to my comment and say "You just happened to be looking for the article and stumbled on the deletion discussion. That's convenient (the argument about a reference that "used" to be here, is telling; there's either a campaign or some sockpuppetry happening)." Convenient or not, it is exactly what happened. I had been to the page in the past, and had gone from it to another source that was linked at the page. Yesterday I went back looking for the source and discovered the page was up for deletion. You can call it convenient. You can call it a coincidence. But do NOT insinuate that it is anything less than the truth. I have no problems with you disagreeing with my opinions. But I do have a problem with slander. --Agletp (talk) 03:21, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Something has been nominated for a featured article review. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to featured quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, articles are moved onto the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article from featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Reviewers' concerns are here. -- K. Annoyomous24[c] 06:12, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Sock action

Hello there, I noticed you had some issues with sock puppetry with User:Tellus_archivist. I have reported the same user the other day as a suspected puppet of User:Valueyou but no one has as yet looked into it, possibly it was missed becasue the suspect entered the conclusion, just realised this now, and have repositioned. You can view the report here. The user in question is adamant that meantspace credentials allow users to bypass VER, OR, & NPOV, guidelines, and he/she also believes that tags are unecessary. I have tried to explain how things work but interest is simply not evident. If the accounts in question do not belong to the same person it may be meatpuppetry. Have you any opinion regarding an approach to dealing with the behaiour of this/these editors?? Cheers. S. Semitransgenic (talk) 18:18, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Your use of rollback

Hi Freshacconci, just stopping by to note a few observations I have made. I have recently noticed that you have rolled back these edits: [2] [3], along with a few others and would like to remind you that rollback should only be used in clear cases of vandalism. The edits that IP made, were not anything close to vandalism and should have been reverted (if at all) using the undo button to allow for a edit summary. Also, I am going to remind you of WP:3RR, which (because the edits you are reverting are not vandalism) you are on the verge of violating. Please be more careful in the future, becasue as you may be aware rollback can be removed without a warning even if unintentional or in good faith (please see WP:PERM). Cheers! Tiptoety talk 19:24, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

The few sources I listed at the AfD were simply a way of my saying "I found these in less than 20 seconds... can't notability be shown?". I have since found more... and am still in the process... but since I have have no COI with this, I have begun sandblasting and rewriting the article to remove POV, Peacock, and unsourcable assertions. When I am through I hope it will then be nicely encyclopedic... and will most definitely ask you to look in and opine. This one is being a real pain, but I may be able to do it. I figure I am about 30% done. Wish me luck. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 10:02, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Richard Tylman COI notice

Greetings, You may recall participating in a Conflict of Interest notice concerning Richard Tylman earlier this year. I have presented evidence from this COI at a current Request for Arbitration. In doing so, I notified Gordonofcartoon whose name was mentioned in the evidence. It has been suggested by Poeticbent that I should have notified all participants… hence this notice. Kind regards, Victoriagirl (talk) 13:38, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Conflict with User:Laval

Please avoid directly editing articles he is editing actively, as the perception of stalking, while it may not be precisely the case, still doesn't look good, and conflict spanning over multiple articles is not a great thing. If there's an issue with his editing, I suggest you take it to a neutral editor - while I'm not around constantly, I can certainly act in that capacity if needed, or other admins will likely assist as well. Defusing the conflict by using a third party would be the best approach for the moment. I'll be leaving him a comment as well along these lines. Tony Fox (arf!) 05:10, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Please stay away from Laval as much as possible. Please don't comment on his edits in terms of being good or bad faith, and please try not to egg him on if possible. Try to stay cool and civil in dealing with the topics that you two share. I'd very much appreciate that. Tony Fox (arf!) 23:32, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Simple position: it's not referenced by secondary sources, so fails WP:V. Simple solution: use the refs you say exist as inline cites, whether print or online. The more the better. Don't just quote them in the AfD. Add them to the article. That is the sure way to keep an article. Regarding behaviour, I would advise a restrained response to provocation, which there has certainly been in a blatant way. Don't rise to the bait. Ty 06:03, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Terry Ananny

Hi, I've written up a report here on Terry Ananny for WP:LONG. As you seem to have been involved with this for a long time, please look over it and add anything you think needs to be there before I post it. Thanks, Lithoderm (talk) 22:08, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Incidentally, I notice you've been issuing the standard three warnings to Ananny's IPs before reporting them. As far as I understand it, vandalism over mulitple IPs only requires a single issue warning: Template:Uw-multipleIPs. This might help a little... Lithoderm (talk) 17:48, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
I don't suppose it would be possible to ban any edits that try to add the words Terry Ananny to certain articles, would it? That would put a stop to this nonsense, but I suppose she would likely just continue to vandalize anyway...--Ducio1234 (talk) 18:40, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Words can be banned from appearing in user account names, and images can be restricted to appearing in certain articles (such as genitalia), but I don't know if there is any content control as wide-ranging as that. Besides, what if she is suddenly elected a member of the RCA (as unlikely as it seems)? Wouldn't that make her notable? If there was that sort of word-banning, don't you think "penis" would have been on it a long time ago? Lithoderm (talk) 19:25, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Das Echo

Hi, thanks for having a look at the Das Echo article. I'm writing for the paper from germany (one of the mentioned stringers in Europe). I added some quotes. Would that be enough to put the banner for quotes off the article? and for the text, it would be great if you could erease the spelling and grammar mistakes, so that banner could also be taken off. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Philipp1101 (talk) 12:35, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi Freshacconci. I have attempted to answer the questions about this page. Christiane Paul, in her seminal book Digital Art, Thames & Hudson Ltd. discusses Nechvatal's concept of Viractualism on page 58. I noted that in the text now. One of the images she chooses to illustrate that section on Nechvatal is titled: "the birth Of the viractual" (2001). I will upload that image here.

Also, Joe Lewis, in the March 2003 issue of Art in America, pp.123-124 discusses the viractual in his review "Joseph Nechvatal at Universal Concepts Unlimited". John Reed in Artforum Web 3-2004 Critc’s Picks discusses it too in: "#1 Joseph Nechvatal". Frank Popper also write about it in his book: From Technological to Virtual Art, MIT Press, pp. 120. Then there is mention of the concept in "Joseph Nechvatal: Contaminations" a review by Patrick Lichty archived here: [4] The other 3rd party references already cited or on the web and can be checked.

Can I remove the banners now? And shall I put the Cybism aspect as a sub-division on the Viractualism page? Valueyou (talk) 08:39, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Removal of banners request

I seem to be in a cul-de-sac at the Viractualism debate page with Semitransgenic - as all the information provided came from the books and web pages cited as references. I have written nothing original. I have reported what I found. Semitransgenic demands more. Can we get other opinions please. Valueyou (talk) 12:57, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
