Global warming controversy[edit]

Hi, I just rewrote some of your good faith work at Global warming controversy. I made a total of three edits, all of which (except the edit summaries) are shown in this diff. Your text made it sound like skeptics are the only ones interested in talking about paleoclimatology, which is far from accurate. My work thus far is just a beginning. Would welcome further neutral expansion of the geologic temperature record section (your originally and obtusely named 'time frame analysis'), but any text needs to be backed by what wikipedia defines as reliable sources. Thanks for reading NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 15:23, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Global warming controversy 2 - The sequel[edit]

Hi Gfcan777,

just dropping a note to let you know I reverted your edits to the Global warming controversy article. The reasons are stated in the summary: first it lacks reliable sources to back it up and second it gives too much undue weight to "skeptics" making it looks as if their position and that of "advocates of anthropogenic global warming" were equally valid when the scientific community has settled this matter long ago. Regards. Gaba (talk) 12:56, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

I agree the edits seemed like they were in good faith. However, now that multiple editors have pointed out the need for citations, my assumption of good faith will be greatly reduced if text continues to appear without citations to what wikipedia defines as reliable sources. Your recent edits[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (Insert-signature.png or Button sig.png) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 14:10, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Indonesia–Malaysia confrontation, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Indonesian Revolution (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Combat operations in 1963 during the Indonesian-Malaysian Confrontation[edit]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Combat operations in 1963 during the Indonesian-Malaysian Confrontation, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Combat operations during the Indonesian-Malaysian Confrontation. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 16:47, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

September 2014[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Western New Guinea dispute may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • Have moved all content to the more accurately titled 'West New Guinea dispute' article. :-)

West New Guinea dispute[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. Zhaofeng Li [talk... contribs...] 04:07, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

Sorry this was my first 'move', I wasn't aware cutting and pasting was a problem....I'm still a relative novice so having a bit of trouble with erforming the 'move' or 'merge'... thanks for your message  :-) Gfcan777Gfcan777 (talk) 04:29, 7 September 2014 (UTC) @Zhaofeng Li:)

March Madness 2017[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017.
