Hello again! I noticed you mention on your userpage that you work at an engineering college in Kochi.(which one?) I am from Kochi too. If you are interested, you can add [[Category:Wikipedians in Cochin|(your user id)]] to your user page. Cheers, and hope to see you around. -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK11:17, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, trouble me all you like, I dont bite. . Here is the Kochi page. If you add [[Category:Wikipedians in Cochin|Gluewhale]] to your user page, you will be listed along with other wikipedians in Category:Wikipedians in Cochin. Btw, I've just finished my twelfth and planning to go for engineering (CS). Once achu mamma and team finishes dilly-dallying with the swasraya naymam I'll know for sure where I'll be joining. Hi, I really have nothing against Pradip Somasundaran. I still think he is non notable. Also, please refrain yourself from making legal threats. It is official wikipedia policy against this action.WP:LEGAL. Thanks --Ageo020 19:48, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pradeep Somasundaram and about a cartoonist

[edit]

I hope Ageo020 is not active out of any spite against Pradeep Somasundaram or you guys. Deciding whether someone is notable is to some extent a personal opinion. Someone that I think is notable may not seem notable to you and viceversa. So WP:AGF :-) I am fairly well-informed in the Malayalam film music before the 1990s. But since I have lived outside Kerala for the last ten years, I could not give a proper opinion during the discussion.

Are you familiar with a cartoonist named S.Jithesh and Chiricheppu ? He has been on a self-advertisement campaign adding himself to such articles as Cartoon and Caricature.

It is good to know that you would be contributing more. If you need any help, please feel free to contact me or Deepu Tintin (talk) 05:39, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I added a comment in the noticeboard too. Tintin (talk) 07:55, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry

[edit]

Hey, I guess my actions on Pradip's deletion review were churlish. It was just that the article first was a WP:AUTO and written by a user of the same name. Hence, I had opposed it. Now the article does look good and had this article been there first, I would have given a Keep vote for it. Anyway, sorry if my actions caused you any trouble or a loss of your peace of mind. Let bygones be bygones and move forward. Hope you keep on contributing.

Sorry again,

Pradip Somasundaran

[edit]

Hello. Sorry for the delay in replying. I noticed that both the tags have been removed. Anybody can remove such tags once the issue has been cleared. You don't need permission or any admin action for that. Also, I've copied Tintin's message over to here in case you missed it on my talk page. -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK04:41, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gluewhale, if you are in touch with him, can you please check whether it is Pradeep or Pradip, and Somasundaran or Somasundaram ? Tintin (talk) 14:06, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. With that all the issues with the article is now settled, I guess. Tintin (talk) 13:16, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing wrong with me

[edit]

Thanks Gluewhale, but there is nothing wrong with me. Just put that sign up, since can't think of anything else to put over there. Nice to see that you are contributing often to wiki. Good luck.

P.S. Is Chiricheppu a hoax or is it real. I am thinking of voting on that issue but since I have not even heard of this, I may want to consider your opinion. --Ageo020 21:58, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Film songs

[edit]

There is a lot to do. The state of old-timers is even worse. Yesudas has a long article while Jayachandran has one that bears no resemblance to an encyclopaedia entry. Others don't have even that. People like K.Raghavan, Dakshinamoorthy and Sreekumaran Thampi don't even have an entry. I guess we should start with stubs and then build on.

Re. the Chiricheppu affair, look at the quality of English written by an "IAS officer" : [1] :-) Tintin (talk) 07:06, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I too dont think these people are who they claim to be. I checked up the High Court advocates directory. The Sreekumars listed there dont seem like the sort of people who would waste their time over some silly political satire in chiricheppu. And imagine, an IAS officer taking time out to save a wikipedia article on his favourite comic. :-)) -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALKthunderboltz 07:41, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Dear Gluewhale , I saw some one trying this article for deletion. Concerts by Dr. K. J. Yesudas and Albums by Dr. K. J. Yesudas I don't know why ? what ever be if any neutrality problem please correct it instead of deletion. This is not an advertisement of Music company This is only for who would like to listen the album's of Yesudas or who would like to know his music. I think it is information for people who would like music. I never support for this deletion. Please care it.

License tagging for Image:Fiyaz.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Fiyaz.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:06, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Malayalee

[edit]

Hello,

There's a problem in the Malayalee article. The points of contention are the following:

  • Dayaanjali doesn't want the article to mention that marumakkathayam (matrilineality/matrifocality) were practiced by the Nairs. i.e., as a community, Nairs were known to be matrifocal/matrilineal, and a martial class.
  • Dayaanjali insists the the words "Malayali" comes from the Malayalam words Malai and Aali. Historically, the region has been known as Malayalam before the genesis of the Malayalam language. Hence, the words probably originated from old Tamil. He also seems to think that Malayalam originated independently of Tamil, whereas (facts aside) all linguists state that Malayalam split off from Tamil about 800 AD or 900 AD.

Since you are active in Kerala-related articles, I request you to take a look at this matter. Dayaanjali seems unwilling to discuss changes in the talk page. Initially we had a discussion. I provided references to support my points. After this, he has refused to discuss the points, claiming that my edits are "unverified". The discussion is here. --vi5in[talk] 06:39, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I firmly believe that Malayalam developed independently having more influence from Tamil. Having said that, the language has similarities with other languages in south india. It has loaned words from sanskrit and many foriegn languages. Its grammatic styles are similar to Tamil. Script is more similar to Tulu Script. Even then You cannot call it new language. The people of malabar cost was using languague which was different from Tamil even during Sangam period, though part of same kingdoms as that of present day Tamil Nadu. The people are different, the culture is different, the script is different. The words Mala and ali are there in many languages in south india and foreign languages like Sinhala, Thai etc. Its not known where the words come any paryicular language. And about customs of Nair cast, its not specific to nairs. More than that this is not the article that you can list out all the customs and tradition of aparticular community. You have a separate article where you can add details.

Image permission problem with Image:Fiyaz.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Fiyaz.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hekerui (talk) 23:48, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Gluewhale! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Kochi_India_slums.jpg exits with some error in the way they describe it. Can you guys from Kochi verify it and if possible take a new picture and update it with the latest one.Kochikandavanachivenda (talk) 13:33, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Hari-logo.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —SpacemanSpiff 10:23, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
