Economy of India[edit]

Hi, Thanks for your edits. I noticed your great edits on topics related to the Economy of India and it would be great if you can help us improve the article or related articles. Thanks again!! pamri 08:51, August 6, 2005 (UTC)

Nice[edit]

Your edits are nice, please continue with the good work. --Bhadani 14:50, 13 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Rama survey[edit]

hi, Initially all the surveys were included in a single page as i developed them. Then somebody threatened that, the page would be deleted as it was as lengthy. Hence i divided into multiple pages, and gave some name to each of them. That name was hence given to it without thinking much. You may change the title appropriately. Sorry for that. Ramashray 13:50, 19 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Bahadur Shah[edit]

  • It was nice to see your edit, but actually Bahadur Shah Zafar and Bahadur Shah II are one and the same person. His real name was Bahadur Shah and as there was one more Bahadur Shah in the earlier period of Mughal Empire, the second is called Bahadur Shah II. In literary circle the second one was known as Zafar, which was his pen-name. Cheers. Have happy editing.--Bhadani 14:21, 23 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Deputy prime ministers of India[edit]

Hi, I should have taken you into confidence before removing some stuff from this page. I hope you see the reason why I removed some stuff. Do add anything you may like. Manik Raina 05:52, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

    • Another tenet of wikipedia is to do as much as possible through consensus. Perhaps that was the thrust of my argument. Manik Raina 06:38, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

It was nice to see your message - actually I have made bigger mistakes, so please do not worry: let us always come closer to make wikipedia great. Have a nice time editing. Hope to see you around. --Bhadani 14:17, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Frequent edits[edit]

Hey, you've been doing good work. In Sania Mirza article I noticed that you have made frequent edits only a few minutes apart. Use the "Show preview" button more often and save when you've made enough number of changes. This would help watchers of an article to track the history better. Jay 19:57, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

(Archival)Hi Jay,

this is with reference to your message by the same subject name on my talk page regarding my frequent edits on Sania Mirza. As the edits were in different sections and as I prefer using "section edits" (saves time on a slow internet connection), I could not use preview and hence frequent edits would be visible. thought I shd. let u know --rgds.,Gurubrahma 07:38, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed you put a cleanup notice on this page, and tried to remove the mess. Do you think it's worth removing the clean-up tag now? Sam Vimes 14:18, 23 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers. Just to clarify: the last two paragraphs were definitely copyvio from [1] - and the first paragraph was quite littered with POV. Sam Vimes 16:39, 23 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, you're welcome! I've actually always thought that one of the problems with the Wikipedia community is that we don't take enough time to let each other know our articles are being read and appreciated--all too often it feels like you're just editing into a vacuum. And thank you for putting a good article up! --Dvyost 16:41, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message. I changed few words. I think the article is ok and it should continue. Over a period of time it would mature. By the way, I have put my comments in the discussion. See you again. --Bhadani 10:12, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Can you add a reference for this edit using {{inotes}}? {{inotes|reference-name/source|pageno/article\title}} and add a link to in the reference section. View this comment in edit mode for an example. Thanks. PamriTalk 10:42, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for adding that. The actual quote was from Angus Maddison, who has done an interesting work on estimating GDP figures for most of the countries in the world. I was a bit concerned, the figures mentioned are over a very large time period, but have managed to fit in with the 2nd para of the colonial section. Anyways, I will try to search for the original figures. Thanks for your edits. --PamriTalk 12:38, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Among your recent edits on this article you deleted the sentence "He was also awarded the Padma Bhushan." while adding Category:Padma Bhushan awardees. Did you mean to do that? --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 15:05, 5 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Doh! I searched for "[[Padma" rather than reading the article carefully. That'll teach me to depend upon machines instead of my own eyes. Sorry. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 15:41, 5 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvios[edit]

I apologise for the copyvios, I have this tendency to paste in chunks of text and then work on rewrites. I will redo the Martha Fineman article. Most of the Hindu Law article is original. The detailed minutae are taken from the statute in most cases or explanations appended to the text. I used material from Paras Diwans, Family Law which might also be the source of the other website.

Update- Re. Martha Fineman Just a few clarifications, my understanding might be wrong but I thought. 1)Copyright laws do not apply to factual information. For instance stating that Lawrence Summers is the President of Harvard cannot be copyrighted. 2) Neither is listing out publications made 3) Textual copyright is one of the hardest to apply. Modifications to a large extent dilute charges of copyright, which include taking from multiple sources or reorganisation. I can dredge up caselaw if you like

This of course may not conform to wikipolicies, so would appreciate feedback

Aishwarya Picture[edit]

why was the L'Oreal picture reverted to the magazine pic? are we not allowed to put magazine ads? if so then is it ok to change the current Cineblitz pic for another magazine cover? thanks! Mailyn 12:34, 7 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

ok I've added a new magazine cover. I also added another external link to a fansite that is very informative as it has lots of up to date articles, images and more. I hope this is ok, please let me know!

I see what you mean, thanks for taking the time to help! I am not understanding all the rules and regulations yet.

I'm not really good at writing so I decided instead of looking at articles with older or less clear pictures and try to find newer ones but I see what you mean. I'm on my way to lurking around for articles without pics so I can add to those (^_^)

EoI request[edit]

Hi, I was wondering if you can please put up a stub for Economy of India in Telegu. Translating the lead should be more than enough. Thanks. PamriTalk 06:04, 8 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

If it is not too much trouble, how about using Itrans? If you type in transliterated english (as per ITRANS), I can convert to utf-8 using baraha and have it checked & uploaded by one te admin (he comes on #Indlinux). --PamriTalk 05:49, 12 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a ton. For GDP at ppp, you can probably leave it in English, ie., transliterate in Telugu, just like I did for Kannada. Take your time and theres no urgency. I think, a lead should be enough for now and a brief caption for the BSE image. I will paste the formatted utf-8 text here, so you can move it to te & rightfully claim credit. --PamriTalk 08:17, 13 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Whether or not a person agrees with these criticisms of Gandhi, the fact of the matter is that people have been making them who are not affiliated with the Hindu right wing. The purpose of the article is to present all relevant information and let the reader decide. If you or anyone else wishes to attack the credibility of those accounts, and have sources that support such attacks, by all means do so in the article. But hiding details which (if true) cause supporters and followers of Gandhi discomfort is not the way to go about an encyclopedia article. --Briangotts (talk) 18:55, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

IIM[edit]

Hey. I hope you will revert it back, for I believe there is some significance. The AIM has a common history with the IIM, since they both introduced case method, with Harvard guidance, in their respective regions in Asia during the 60's. In a way IIM and AIM are sister institutions, with similar names and similar teaching methods. IIM is also a link found in AIM, so I hoped to make it the other way around too. I hope I changed your mind. --Noypi380 08:52, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Gurubrahma, Thanks for starting the Indian Economy article in Telugu wiki. We appreciate it very much. If you dont have a telugu configured system you can always post them in RTS format. Categories Famous and Heroic people[edit]

There will be controversy. I expect to have plenty of comment. And anyone is more than welcome to alter these suggestions. I have just started the ball rolling. I only gave Ghandhi as an example of a leader. I never meant that he was the only candidare. I was just trying to avoid all the famous people becoming heroic too. (They often call themselves heroic). Mandella is of course a leader too. Of course, I would expect people to add lots of new names, and remove some, if they don't think they suitable. I expect a lot of names, but not 'thousands' I hope. I have also tried to be objective. Maybe Audie Murphy is a bit cheeky, and someone might remove him... that's OK. Wallie 09:52, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello![edit]

I'm very happy to meet you. This happens because of your proposal to merge a couple of food lists, and I'm still thinking through my response. I don't think I'm going to agree with you in the end, but I don't know. At any rate, I wanted to say it's really nice to have someone interested in the wikipedia food articles. Especially someone from India, which, to my mind, has pretty much the greatest food on the planet. Mothperson cocoon 21:59, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your Revert[edit]

Hi - - What did you find objectionable in my contribution to the Indian Independence Movement article? Please specify. All I did was stress non-violent protest and the impact of this idea on world leaders. I think you have just reverted routinely without giving any thought to the matter. Please restore my edits - Anon

Hi Anon, pl. create an account so that it becomes easy to track who it is (for example, some one may work from the same IP as yours and I may mistake him for you). I'm replying here as I do not know if you'd be working frm the same IP again. As for the reason as to why I reverted your edits, the reasons are as follows: -
General: - As an intro, the section is intended to give a flavour of the movement as well as indicate its scope and significance. Hence, for example, Bose's actions needed at least a mention.
Specific: - 1) I found the use of the word prosecuted out of context. 2) Not all movements were about ending British rule; the mainstream movement itself made it an objective as late as 1929. 3) The independence of a fifth of humanity was secured with not one shot fired or one British life taken. - is extreme POV. Incidents such as Chauri Chaura did occur. This would be the first and last time I'd be responding to you on this page. In future, either post your queries on the article's talkpage or create an account so that I can respond on your talkpage. Thanks --Gurubrahma 05:29, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
