Rollback request
Dear Sir,
I would like to get the rollback permission, in order to be able to use Huggle when reverting vandalism and graffiti. Cstaffa (talk) 16:11, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Quick question for you?
Why do you think my change was unconstructive in the Gaza article? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DeanKamen (talk • contribs) 03:06, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Global account
Hello there, J.delanoy. Since you're a steward, could you delete my global account "MC10" so that I can attach my local accounts again, as I don't have a home wiki (meta's CentralAuth)? Thanks. —MC10 (T•C•GB•L) 21:27, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
Huggle 9.5
Hey J.delanoy! I am trying to go on Huggle 9.5 which I think is the newest version and the login button wouldn't allow me to login because the button is gray not like the other ones that I can press. What should I do? ActivExpressionSign! 01:39, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
- Never mind. I got the old version of Huggle. Now it works on Huggle 9.6. Sorry about the distraction. I thought it was the newest version. ActivExpressionSign! 01:42, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
time sink
Because doing that would create a huge drama and time sink that would eventually end up at ArbCom, whereas this page was never used and is full of half-truths and misleading statements (as well as clear errors of fact). It was never used, had no effect on the result, and cannot now be used, so should be deleted. An MfD would be the start of a huge mess. Verbal chat 18:24, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
- And that justifies attempting a brute-force G10-spree hoping to find an admin who will delete it for you? J.delanoygabsadds 18:27, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
- No one has done that. Just delete the bloody thing and we can all forget about it. Or ask the arbs involved what they think. It's all pointless, so why not just delete it. Verbal chat 18:30, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
- Verbal, you are allowed to file an MfD and thus to add the MfD template as necessary and appropriate. However, if you otherwise touch User:Abd/Response to Verbal, I will take it to a noticeboard or to ArbComm directly, and I believe that ArbComm will take a dim view of what amounts to long-term harassment here. You may also make comments and request corrections of any errors on the page on the attached Talk page. But it was my evidence, prepared for an RfAr, and actually cited there, and I should be the only one to change it, and even then I should not materially change it, and only ArbComm should be able to order its deletion. I hope there is no more disruption from this, and thanks, J., for your action. Had this been deleted, it would have gone to DRV and ArbComm. --Abd (talk) 18:48, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

We might need a rangeblock on the IPs editing the above article, but I don't know how to calculate one. Your help would be appreciated. They are already over the warning threshold for being blocked, but I don't know how to make it happen. — KV5 • Talk • 19:33, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

- FWIW, the easiest way to check what range you need to block is to look up the IP address's WHOIS report (I use http://samspade.org/whois since it collates reports from all the RIRs). If it doesn't actually say what the range is, you can use this tool to calculate what range you need. J.delanoygabsadds 19:41, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Checkuser Needed, Please
A checkuser is needed on this ANI thread. Something seems to be up with User talk:Louiefontanez. Not sure if there is socks afoot, a comprimised account or what. But the user is apparently sending out emails via Wikipedia laced with personal attacks, but has made no edits in 2010, only one in April 2009, before that nothing til 2007. Something isn't right here. Could you take a look? - NeutralHomer • Talk • 00:48, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Most likely be related to this IP account. - NeutralHomer • Talk • 00:54, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Another checkuser worked on the case and an admin blocked the user in question. Hope all is well. Take Care...NeutralHomer • Talk • 08:12, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yup, it's resolved, thanks anyway J. Tommy2010message 12:39, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for the block on User:Bistuderby. I ignored the first round of crap, hoping he'd get bored and go play somewhere else, but today's crap wave indicated not. I'm assuming the indef block will truly be forever, but just in case, I'll also point out that the user name violates WP:U, "Offensive usernames are those that offend other contributors, making harmonious editing difficult or impossible."; I take the name as a personal attack at me - it's not like my name is even close to common. If there's an admin "double secret super probation", that account should be on it. Thanks again. Studerby (talk) 00:38, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- Welcome. Indefinite means "infinite unless another admin is willing to unblock". I can practically guarantee that no admin will ever unblock that account. J.delanoygabsadds 00:40, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Privacy purposes
I suggest creating a new page User:J.delanoy/talk (or something), cut/paste everything here over to there, have that page SineBot enabled, and immediately set the protection level to move=sysop. One of the vandal log entries claims to state your IP address (whether or not it's true is not much business to the public), so doing this would make it much less visible, while possibly completely hiding the other log afterwards. mechamind90 17:28, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- I used to have /unprotectedtalk, but there was so much vandalism that I had to delete and salt it. J.delanoygabsadds 00:43, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
This arbitration case has been closed and the final decision is available at the link above. The following is a summary of the remedies enacted:
- All editors who are party to this case are instructed to read the principles, to review their own past conduct in the light of them, and if necessary to modify their future conduct to ensure full compliance with them.
- Editors are reminded that when editing in controversial subject areas it is all the more important to comply with Wikipedia policies. In addition, editors who find it difficult to edit a particular article or topic from a neutral point of view and to adhere to other Wikipedia policies are counselled that they may sometimes need or wish to step away temporarily from that article or subject area, and to find other related but less controversial topics in which to edit.
- Any uninvolved administrator may, in his or her own discretion, impose sanctions on any editor editing Transcendental meditation or other articles concerning Transcendental meditation and related biographies of living people, broadly defined, if, after a warning, that editor repeatedly or seriously violates the behavioural standards or editorial processes of Wikipedia in connection with these articles.
- Uninvolved administrators are invited to monitor the articles in the area of conflict to enforce compliance by editors with, in particular, the principles outlined in this case. Enforcing administrators are instructed to focus on fresh and clear-cut matters arising after the closure of this case rather than on revisiting historical allegations.
- From time to time, the conduct of editors within the topic may be re-appraised by any member of the Arbitration Committee and, by motion of the Arbitration Committee, further remedies may be summarily applied to specific editors who have failed to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner.
- User:Fladrif is (i) strongly admonished for incivility, personal attacks, and assumptions of bad faith; and (ii) subject to an editing restriction for one year. Should he make any edits which are judged by an administrator to be uncivil, personal attacks, or assumptions of bad faith, he may be briefly blocked, up to a week in the event of repeated violations. After three blocks, the maximum block shall increase to one month.
- Should any user subject to a restriction or topic ban in this case violate that restriction or ban, that user may be blocked, initially for up to one month, and then with blocks increasing in duration to a maximum of one year, with the topic ban clock restarting at the end of the block.
On behalf of the Arbitration Committee, ~ Amory (u • t • c) 18:31, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Kaiserreich et alias
Hi I saw you today doing an edit on the talk page of Mtumiaji:Kaiserreich at sw.wiki. He is troubling us at the moment under a number of aliases. How did you get to follow him to sw? sw:mtumiaji:kipala ---- Kipala (talk) 18:56, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- I watch an IRC channel that has some robots that list edits from many projects, and highlights edits that may be vandalism. Since that edit removed a large amount of text, the robot highlighted it, and I clicked on the link it gave me to the edit. J.delanoygabsadds 20:15, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info; this is an identity of a multi-sock who loves to play across wikipedias; he is not malicious (tried to clean up his mess under different identity) but pretty chaotic and troublesome... Kipala (talk) 20:50, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Signpost
Dear J.delanoy, I see you're in the byline for this week's signpost article about the British Museum activities. Could you please make sure there is appropriate mention of the major project to come out of that day, the WP:GLAM/BM/Featured Article prize? This is more than the reporting of an event but a (IMHO) major announcement and could potentially be broken off into its own subsection. Also, could you make sure that the NYTimes article about the event gets mentioned in the "in the news" section too? Sincerely, Witty Lama 21:59, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Revision to Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire and Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri articles
I noticed that you have revised either Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri or Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire.
I intend to revise those articles following the Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines. There are more details on the discussion pages of those articles. I'd be interested in any comments you have. It would be best if your comments were on the discussion pages of the two articles.
Thank you.

174.132/16
Hi J. I notice you've blocked this range as it's probably had a runtshit proxy on it. I wonder if you could take a look and see if the BOLT IPs are being used. There's been more than one request before to get this unblocked[1][2]. I'm not entirely sure of the whole range but I think it's fairly small. If you could take a look and if runtshit's not using it then softblock or something, it'd be appreciated. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 07:20, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
- Well, he hasn't used it since I blocked it, which isn't too surprising. I can't really see much now of what I saw then, because I blocked it almost three months ago. I guess if you want to give unprotection a try, I have no real objections. J.delanoygabsadds 15:09, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yep, a bit late in the day I know. Knowing runtshit he would have been using one of the open web proxies in the range. I have no idea if BOLT is still exiting on the same range (174.132.56.152/29 IIRC), but it's still registered to them so I may just softblock their range. There were a few good faith editors there previously. theplanet is always a tricky rangeblock to make IME. -- zzuuzz (talk) 15:26, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you have warned me for leaving unconstructive comments on another admins page. I was wondering why this was as I was just asking why requesting the removal of a page belonging to one of my family members was unconstructive? Cheers Stephen Dalbiac (talk) 16:38, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
Vandalism in Albanian Wikipedia
I've seen you have reverted some edits made by vandal users in our Wikipedia. As I saw your profile, I thought you were the right man to contact with. This isn't related as much to another user called Elio96, who is having trouble with his articles and is struggling to keep them as clean as they should be. But the problem is that an user has started to delete contents of his articles. He has been blocked several times by our administrators, but he continues to open new accounts and does the same thing. Firstly, you can see his edits as an anonymous user (IP 81.243.35.60) then he opened an account with name Elio69, then Kristiani59, Elio66, and now Telio69. What can you do something in order that this user no longer will embarass and vandalise our articles?--Kristiani95 (talk) 05:56, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- Making a request that a checkuser query to be run may allow sqwiki's administrators to target a range block to stop him. J.delanoygabsadds 16:15, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Olde Tyme Englishe
I love it. You're only the third person (I'm the second) I know who uses the word "userboxen." Couple of questions re Huggle, if you could help. First, is there a way to get the page title checkboxes to "stay put" between sessions? Second, with "Filtered Edits," is there some way to exclude pages about bands and sports and video games? Finally, is there a setting to stop Huggle from adding pages to my watchlist? (I don't have preferences set that way.)kcylsnavS{screechharrass} 23:45, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Checkuser help required
Hello, I'd be grateful for the help of a checkuser at WP:AE#Brandmeister to determine whether the account at issue is indeed likely to be compromised, as is being claimed there. I suppose one could compare login IPs, if these are logged and available to checkuser, or check whether the IP who claims to be Brandmeister matches the IPs previously used by that account. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Sandstein 21:04, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Black Veil Brides article creator
Articles with substantially similar text have been created and repeatedly deleted over the last several months as Black Veil Brides and Black veil brides and the creators of both have been blocked for sockpuppetry, one of which — AtlanticDeep — you did in January and the other — Mcrfobrockr — was done by Bwilkins last month. A new try on that article, again with substantially similar text (I'm not a sysop, but I looked at the article in June and remember it reasonably well) is taking place at Wikipedia:Article Incubator/Black Veil Brides by user UltraHeadShot, who appears to have a similar editing pattern in addition to the similar text in the article. Just thought you might like to know. I'm going to leave a note on Bwilkins' talk page as well. Best regards, TRANSPORTERMAN (TALK) 22:00, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
