Population numbers[edit]

Hi Karansarathy, I had to undo your edits to White Namibians and Baster. When new population numbers become available, they cannot just be copied into the article without providing a new reference. Otherwise content would become inconsistent, with an old source apparently supporting a new number.

If you have newer references, by all means put them in. If you need help, just drop me a line. Cheers, Pgallert (talk) 10:03, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

Response: Hello Template:Pgallert, 124,000 of 2.1 million is less than 6%. The white namibian population is estimated to be 8%, while other sources state 6%. The correct population should than be 130,000-154,000. If your not going to change it, I will change the population with the right sources. You can't argue the sources and the math!!!. According to the Namibian government, white namibians make up 8% of the population. This is the most recent source of 2003.

Hi Karansarathy, the template to ping me is {{u|Pgallert}}, but that is not necessary as I'm watching your user talk page for a few days. All I'm saying is that the old source cannot support the new numbers. If you have newer numbers, please put them in and source it, then there is no problem. Cheers, Pgallert (talk) 20:14, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

Pgallert, so where did 124,000 come from?, atleast I know where 154,000 came from, The Government of Namibia. That's the latest source. After 2003, there aren't reliable sources pertaining to the figures.

Have you got a url for that? The older numbers come from a scientific paper (for Basters) and from a web site which is no longer reachable (for Whites). Cheers, Pgallert (talk) 08:01, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing an article on Wikipedia, you will see a small field labeled "Edit summary" shown under the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Asian American does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks!--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 03:31, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. I notice that you added some content to Asian American that appears to be a minority or fringe viewpoint. Unfortunately, this edit appears to give undue weight to this minority viewpoint, and has been reverted. To maintain a neutral point of view, an idea that is not broadly supported by scholarship in its field must not be given undue weight in an article about a mainstream idea. Feel free to use the article's talk page to discuss this, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 22:10, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did at European Canadian, you may be blocked from editing. Stop messing with this article please. Last time you were changing numbers without giving a new source, and now you are removing sourced material without an explanation. You don't get to rewrite this article to please your yourself. Give some justifications and sources or leave it alone. Meters (talk) 18:53, 18 August 2016 (UTC)

You seem to have a history of making these sorts of unsourced edits or inadequately explained deletions on similar ethnic topics. My comments above apply to all articles, not just European Canadian. Meters (talk) 19:00, 18 August 2016 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Hayman30. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Pakistani Canadians, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Hayman30 (talk) 05:39, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Nambudiri. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Sitush (talk) 18:38, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
