RfA thanks[edit]

Thank you very much for your support for my recent RfA, which I'm quite happy to announce has passed with a consensus of 67 supporting, 0 opposed and 0 neutral. I'm glad I meet your criteria. Most of all, I'm glad you took the time to evaluate my candidacy, as I believe that's what keeps RfA running smoothly, and I'll be working hard to justify the vote of confidence you've placed in me. Please let me know at my talk page if I can assist you with any admin-related tasks, or just if you have any comments on my performance as an admin. Thanks! Wow... if I were born just fifteen days later, you'd be exactly twice my age... not to make you sound old. Happy 35th (with perhaps a trip to the Midwest?) joturner 05:10, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The party shall go on! Have a nice time. Happy birthday to you... --Bhadani 14:39, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks my dear Alee![edit]

Oh, no, dear Alee, I can't believe I missed your birthday! :( I hope you forgive me, hun - let me try and repay you with a *heap* of flowers, both for your bday and the beautiful gift you so kindly gave me! Btw, it's so great to see that many people notice your extremely hard work. You deserve big credit and praising for it. I'm so sorry I couldn't help but to a minimal extent - the last days have been kinda hard in terms of finding time to do more than just some superficial editing to me. But I am sure that, considering your expertise in the matter, as well as my utter amateurism, maybe it was for the best of WP... I can't even think how embarrased I'd be to see you rectifying my mistakes! Anyway, Alee, hope you had an awesome bday, and that you're enjoying the summer. Big hugs! space stations[edit]

Good question. I would say that just because a body CAN take up orbit around another doesn't make it a satellite. So Centerpoint Station isn't in orbit around anything, but it could be. And Nightmare's Fortress is just "in space." Space Mountain represents another problem: It's locked right here on earth, but it's definitely a space station. So I'm not sure exactly where you're trying to put this, but it might be a thorny category when you do. Hope that helps!--Mike Selinker 13:35, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Participants[edit]

Before you get too far along, do you know that the Template:Participant leads to the creation of Category:Participants in WikiProject XXX? --Usgnus 00:09, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WHOA: where did this CRF for renaming massive numbers of project member cats from members to participants come from? There's some decision somewhere and project people, whom it affects, are never notified of it? Where was this discussion? I can't find it. Rlevse 00:44, 20 July 2006 (UTC)...I just found it. This was only 3 days ago and involved a mere 3 people and you come up with this? So what if the project member cats have different naming conventions.00:46, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I am. You should have let projects know about this. Users can't be expected to keep up with every discussion on wiki. The projects should be free to name their own member categories. Rlevse 00:54, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sun & moon[edit]

Wow! That's the nicest, coolest thing I've seen in a while. Thanks, I needed it. Her Pegship 06:03, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could use an opinion on this[edit]

LA, Sorry to bother you but I have a slight issue I could use a neutral parties opinon on. I'm involved as a Mediator in a case involving two editors, another editor whom I tried to setttle a disupte he was having with other editors seems to be having a personal issue with me.

Please take a look, if you don't wish to get involved I will understand.

The user is UCRGrad and currently has an RfC against him that might be going ot ArbCom. I understand that I'm asking a lot of you, but from what I have seen, you are a fair and Neutral editor.

It settled down (A SYSOP had to get involved) I will let you know if I need help in the future thanks a million. Aeon Insane Ward 02:16, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I could use you views on this LA if you don't mind. RfC It needs more Neutral Outside Views. If you don't want to that is ok. Aeon Insane Ward 03:19, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Card Game Wikigift[edit]

Hello Think Fast,
I have a little Wikigift for you in regards to the card game user templates that I would love to put on your user page. It is a custom card game container. Would you want something like that on your user page? - LA @ 06:48, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would like that a lot! Thank you! --Think Fast 14:03, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I do like the box you added. Thanks for the box and for your work. --Think Fast 22:17, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edit to my page[edit]

No, I don't mind at all. Also, I am very impressed by your Barnstars, they are a reflection on you commitment to Wikipedia. I hope to mact such a commitment one day. Dfrg.msc User talk:Dfrg.msc 00:22, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've WP:CFD'd icy moons as it appears your CFD request failed because you placed it in the middle of a massive rename request, and it was probably lost in the shuffle. 70.51.9.213 05:32, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IRC troubles[edit]

Your ghost just disconnected:

01:00 -!- Lady_Aleena [i=user@ddu138-13.xecu.net] has quit [Read error: 60 (Operation timed out)]

Just out of curiosity, why do you have to wait? Is there some issue with your connection? Normally, you should be able to connect under a different nick and kill your ghost with "/quote chanserv ghost nick password", if your nick is registered with services. --Slowking Man 08:04, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the BTTF relist and correction[edit]

Thank you for correcting my error on the request for renaming on the Back to the Future trilogy. How long should it last until the renaming takes place? (I will have a lot of edits to do if it is moved, but I am prepared for that. :)) - LA @ 06:58, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Move requests normally last about five days, so it should be closed on August 17 or August 18. How come you will have a lot of work to do if it's moved? Are you referring to changing all the links? -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 13:49, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am referring to the change of the links, since I am the one who wants it moved. I am not looking forward to it but will do it if it happens. - LA @ 14:00, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Are you familiar with AutoWikiBrowser; it makes the process much easier. Back in June, I replaced 800 images in about four hours or so. However, you don't have nearly as many things to change. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 14:03, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DAoC[edit]

I left a message on cyde's talk page about DAoC, et al. Perhaps it's just a misunderstanding? - Jc37 23:02, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Brittle[edit]

While I was distracted, I think I may be looking in the wrong place for problems. If you'll point me again, I'm happy to look.
brenneman {L} 07:13, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ook, in retrospect that was more than a little bit cryptic, wasn't it? In an IRC conversation not that many hours ago (geologic time scale) you complained of feeling a little bit "brittle" wikipedia-wise. I asked if it was over the Dr. Who/Monty Python templates and if there was anything I could look over for you. You pointed me (I thought) to Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 August 7, but I didn't see anything there that looked stress-inducing. If you're still looking for an independant eyeball, I've got one. - brenneman {L} 07:30, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Accidental Warning[edit]

User Infobox[edit]

per your message - about "my" infobox - none. i relinked to yours. I have had bad luck with building my own so I gave up but now that they're the same - the one on my userspace prolly should be deleted.

IRC drop / Userboxes[edit]

I understand :) can you not use the /ghost command on freenode? /msg nickserv ghost <username> <password> if you've not tried it. highly useful for these situations, if I'm reading correctly. -- Huntster T@C 07:43, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, re those UBXs, no complaints thus far...and fallout is the least of my concern. If they want to revert a perfectly good and working UBX into one that's, ahem, broken...that's their perogative. Hope they enjoy! :D -- Huntster T@C 03:47, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, your ghost dropped from the server, and you should be able to rejoin. I was just about to ask someone for assistance when it happened on its own. -- Huntster T@C 08:03, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DRV thing[edit]

Hi,

If it makes you feel any better, remember I wrote "restored and userfied" -- there was a consensus the speedies were out-of-process. After restoring them, I made a judgment call that it was better to userfy per GUS than to list at TfD. I did this because, although GUS isn't "policy" yet, it is gaining consensus as the solution to a very tense problem. If I had relisted at TfD, the result would have been the same, and much more friction would have been generated in the meantime. I am a process-follower, but I don't follow it needlessly -- in this case, userfication was the best option for all.

I didn't do anything a typical user couldn't do, really. Unless a page is move-protected, anybody can move it at anytime (of course, userfying pages for no reason would be disruptive.) In the case of a User Template, though, I encourage people to userfy without hopping through TfD: Just move the thing to user-space (my userspace, if you'd like), and then mark the redirects as CSD R2 speedies. Best wishes, Xoloz 23:56, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User Infobox[edit]

The birthday table does some wierd things when you have the Birthday only. It doesn't show at all. If you fake you the Chinise Zodiac by putting a value, previewing it, then removing and previewing again, it will then show. Thought you'd like to know.--master_sonLets talk 19:12, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

More Thanks[edit]

Thanks for helping me clean up my userpage! If you have time, plz help me to make it better (all my userboxes are horribly aligned) NSD Student 23:34, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you help enable the switch function at User:Zscout370/Coloreng to this above template. What I need done is to allow people to choose the spelling of color (colour). TIA, even if you need to see other folks to get this done. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 06:48, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good news, the bot has been approved.[edit]

I've finished coding my bot, and it has been approved for a trial run of 200 edits, so I'll test it out on the remaining transclusions for for Template:User lj link.
