Vandalism fighting tip

Sometimes more than one edit of vandalism is made consecutively, so make sure you revert ALL the vandalism, and not just one edit. Cheers —Floria L 08:20, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

I usually do, but I script revert first as it removes all vandalism 99.5% ± 0.25 of the time. It might also help to revert after the vandal has been blocked (as you are likely to have some breathing space), which reduces the chance of the dreaded edit conflict. Why are you deleting what im saying on the discussion page? Why is no-one lsitening to me here? All im asking anyone to do is to spend 30 seconds looking at a page that shows that 2 pages should be deleted!

With a truckload of salt???? Firstly, it concerns me that youve never heard of discogs.com - it is NOT merely a discussion forum, it is the internets premier music database site. Secondly he author of that post is a moderator on that site (as am I) who did a helluva a lot of research into what was going on up to and including travelling to the supposed place where the label was based. Trust me on this, is a elaborate hoax spread over a number of websites - to achieve what I dont know. AfD - Prizm Project

I just wanted to let you know at your AfD you make a reference to the number of Google hits. This is a violation of WP:GHITS, and is discriminatory towards whether the article should or should not stay on Wikipedia. Cool Blue^{Light my Fire!} 12:24, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

The google test here shows how difficult it is to find non-trivial sources for the article in question. Putting {{unref}} on the article won't solve the problem, as per above. It needs more wider input than that. The topic is not highly specialised and I'd expect an organisation who has done notable things to have a wider google presence. copyvio speedies

Hey MER-C, you need to notify the author of an article such as Children's Brain Tumor Foundation that you tag (correctly) for speedy delete as a copyright vio, by using the templates given to you at the bottom of the pink speedy delete tag on the article itself. I have done it in this care, but please take care to do so in the future. Even if in some cases it wouldn't make any difference (as the author won't care) it shoul dbe done for those cases where the author will go back and re-write the article. Well, I red it, and I cannot find any reason why the things posted on my user page cannot be there. A lot of those facts were found in different fact books, and the information in those fact books was probably taken out of some type of encyclopedia. So I do not understand why I'm wrong. I realise now why they're showing up less often - the captcha that appears whenever IP editors add external links is able to fool XRumer so far (even though it claims to be able to bypass captchas. Hehe.) In response to an OTRS ticket (#2007041710009994), I had a look at the history of Jim Dobson. After a back-and-forth with a few other registered users, an anon replaced the existing article (including text that was both unsourced and derogatory) with the word "Deleted" [1], but you reverted the anon's changes [2] and replaced the inappropriate text. Wikipedia has nothing to lose by biting self-promoters and/or people who use it as a social networking site. I don't see any sufficient reason to waste the time, and neither does Wikipedia's former lawyer (see [3]). See also WT:BP#Blocks_for_Conflict_of_interest-only_accounts, where consensus is growing that vanispamcruftisers who do not contribute constructively may be blocked indefinitely. Hello there :)

I noticed you prodded the article of "From a Whim", and after reading thoroughly through the "things you shouldn't do" I came to realize that I did trespass over one of those things, but I thought it would be O.K. to make the article because the band just got signed to a record label (Oh ya, I should mention this isn't the Lamoni in the band, he let me use his account due to the fact I don't have an email, I'm Ryan, nice to meet you :)). If your band is notable - see WP:MUSIC for what we deem to be notable - someone (not me) will eventually write an article compliant with our content policies on it. You shouldn't, because Wikipedia is not myspace and/or a forum for self-promotion and writing about yourself is strongly discouraged.

Madrid metro map

The nature of Wikipedia means that you can't make a convincing argument based on what other articles do or don't exist; because there's nothing stopping anyone from creating any article. Plenty of articles exist that probably shouldn't, a lot of articles don't exist that probably should. So just pointing out that an article on a similar subject exists doesn't prove that the article in question should also exist. You should change your username at Wikipedia:Changing username. Usernames that contain a domain or imply a web address or that promote a company, are not allowed as usernames and eventually the account will be disabled. see Inappropriate usernames.--Hu12 23:02, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Rapleaf article

Hi. You put a Template:COI2 tag on Rapleaf, which I mostly wrote -- I turned it from a complete stub into a short article. I think you're pointing to another editor, not me, as having a POV issue.

If you have a chance, could you help me out on this? I'm a little unclear on the POV concept as it relates to business owners making factual corrections. But more than that I'd like to clean the article up to the point where there's no POV issue. What do I have to do? The guy's changes seem accurate so I don't want to just undo them. Re: image copyright problems

Hi, I picked up on your deleted messages, and I've retagged the image as GDFL-self anyway. At least there appears to be a sensible alternative tag now. In the past I had images labelled "my image etc..." deleted without warning because they predated the current tagging system and were just chopped on that basis. Very annoying, that. Easy db recreating deleted pages fix

Hi, I have tested a fix that should fix this issue. I wanted to run it by you before implementing it: The idea would be to check the revision Id before entering the Ifs that check the action to perform

        alert("The page has already been deleted.");
        return;
      }

nanoquest deletion

Hi, You gave me a warning for putting a spam link in the Nanoquest entry. Nanoquest is an Irish government funded resource for raising awarenesss of nanotechnology among children. The problem with the article was what I like to call vanispamcruftisement. Wikipedia is not an advertising service, nor is it for self-promotion. Iff the program is notable, someone will eventually write about it. You shouldn't. MER-C 11:37, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Image:Munsell-system.svg‎

Hey there. You just put a speedy delete tag on my image Image:Munsell-system.svg‎ (which I had nominated on FPC), and then closed out the nomination. The reason given was that the image was corrupt. If that was the reason for closing out the nomination, could you please undo that, as the image is just fine, and renders perfectly well on its image page, the FPC page, and on the article page? (It's not my fault that Mediawiki's svg rasterizer is rather crappy, and flakes out intermittently) Also, it would be proper (i.e. not incredibly rude and inconsiderate) to instead of just putting up a speedy delete, you would actually notify the author of the image in question.
